A Different Perspective

Dean’s pov

“What the…”

Dean’s eyes blinked open as his surroundings inched towards clarity. His whole body protested moving from his comfortable position, but his curiosity proved to be more important. His blurry view was almost clear when, out of nowhere, two hands slapped over his adjusting eyes. This efficiently kept Dean from seeing past the secure grip.

The hunter part of Dean immediately retaliated against being help captive. In turn, he thrashed in an attempt to free himself from the figure pinning him down.

Oh hell no Dean thought as he curled his arm back in preparation for punch.

Before he could slam his fist into the thing holding him down, he noticed a familiar voice coming from the same figure.

“Dean, wait!” it said.

The voice stopped the hunter in his tracks. It was the voice of his little brother… Only Sam was normally shorter than Dean. Like, a lot shorter. As a child, Sam was hit by a witches curse that shrunk him to a whopping four inches tall. He survived on his own for several years until, he was lucky enough to cross paths with his older, and much bigger, brother. The two brothers now travel together despite the very noticeable size difference.

“Sam!? What the hell is going on?“

Dean stopped fighting the second he recognized his opponent’s voice. He also realized the lack of a height difference between him and his little brother. At once a smile was on his face. The joy dean felt was over whelming at that fact that dean could see his brother as he was meant to. The joy, however, was cut short when Sam didn’t uncover his older brother’s eyes.

Damn the kid is strong!

"Sammy, lemme go. It’s just me.” Dean said softly.

He wrapped his fingers around Sam’s wrists to gently coax the hands off. The very fact that Dean could complete this gesture shocked Dean to the core. It was just so foreign for these brothers to have that kind of contact. Dean was thrilled he could even hold Sam’s wrists without the fear of breaking them. It was about damn time Dean gave his little brother a proper hug for the first time in several years. Only his little brother wasn’t letting go.

Does he think it’s not me? Dean pondered. It was totally possible in their line of work.

Sam proved Dean’s guess wrong when he responded, “I know Dean, I know. Just… Uh… don’t freak out."

Before Dean could question why Sam was so hesitant Sam removed his hands. Within that second Sam was being crushed via bear hug.

The brothers clinged to each other. A sense of delight filled the air. They had each other – everything else didn’t matter. The world vanished around them as they hugged like it would be their last.

In fact Dean was so overjoyed he didn’t bother to look around him.

He didn’t bother to note that his surroundings now towered over him.

He didn’t bother to realize that he shrunk down to 3.6 inches tall…

August 12th excerpt:

Logan sat up, pushing on the dry ground with sore hands. A large tree branch completely void of leaves lay nearby. The grass was thicker around him than it was in his immediate vicinity. He couldn’t even see past ten feet or so into the dark green shadows in one direction.

He looked in another direction and stumbled to his feet almost immediately. “You?!” he blurted, squinting at the man sitting crosslegged nearby, calmly paying no mind to the strange scenery around them both. Something nagged the back of Logan’s mind and told him to worry a lot, but his surprise pushed that voice back.

It looked like he was staring at a full-sized version of the tiny person-thing he’d recently been able to shove in a pocket.

“Yeah, me,” Sam responded.

XD Aww, that’s an adorable image! I can just imagine how scolded Jacob will be when he ‘bucks’ Dean off and the little guy goes tumbling. Sam will snicker at how offended Dean is that he only lasted ten seconds, clearly he’s going to need more practice. Dean will not forgive Sam if he stays on longer when it comes time for his turn.

Dean still loves those westerns, even all these years later.

August 11th excerpt:

The prisoner finally looked to Dean, the only one who he had a mite of respect for, if only because of his fighting skill. He still regarded the other hunter like he was garbage in the gutter. “I see the little vermin have you both good and trained,” he spat.

Dean coolly arched an eyebrow at Logan. “Trained?” He glanced down at Sam, sitting calmly on a shoulder, then back at Logan. “He can’t be talking about me, can he?”

Sam wrinkled his nose. “He wouldn’t say that if he ever saw the socks you leave in the sink,” he complained loudly, not showing any of the pain that he still felt in his arm. “I mean, really. Who leaves socks in the sink, of all places?”

Oh, I’m so glad! This is definitely one of our more emotionally charged stories, especially with the blunt way they approached Dean! There’s more feels ahead, and thank you for your support! We love hearing what everyone thinks of these chapters :3

(Please Dean, Jacob is but a teddy bear who got a little overexcited, don’t hurt him. He was so excited to meet you and brought Sam all that way.)

Sam and Dean will have to keep Jacob quiet if they spot the tiny burrower watching them (probably catching the borrower at some point out of sheer surprise before they realize the little guy is harmless). The field borrowers will have a hard time with how big Jacob is. How can that be a living person? It’s too big for comprehension! Just one wrong move on Jacob’s part can wipe their entire burrow off the map. (Living natural disaster; Jacob Andris)

August 10th excerpt:

With that settled, Dean knelt down next to Jacob. “Alright pint-size, c’mon,” he said, gesturing. “We’ve got to fix up the Sasquatch before he gets himself into any more trouble.”

Sam stepped onto his outstretched hand, resigned to being checked over for injuries before anything else, and indeed, the first thing that happened was he was lifted up in front of the intense green eyes.
