September 3rd excerpt:

Dean knelt down right outside his guest room and rubbed the dog’s head. “You going to be our guard dog while we stay?” he asked knowingly.

Rumsfeld yelp-barked and nosed at the spot on Dean’s chest where Logan was hidden.

September 2nd excerpt:

“What are your plans?” Sam asked dubiously as he eyed up the slight bulge against Dean’s chest.

Dean shrugged. “I’ll figure something out. For now, he’s out of Bobby’s way, out of Rumsfeld’s way, and we’ve got the night to ourselves. Want to grab a movie?”

Sam considered. “What about Logan? I’m not sitting with you if he’s going to be bitching up a storm.”

“I’ll find a place to stash him for the night.”

I’m rereading Brothers Apart, for the millionth time, and I was wondering what would have happened if Bowman didn’t end up saving Sam from getting bitten by the spider? If Bowman and Dean were having to work together without Sam or with a very injured Sam, how would that have worked out?

Dean would desperately work to save Sam, and all thoughts of the case would be thrown out if he saw his little brother in such a bad position. He’d try and get Bowman to help him, his little brother is hurt, what if he dies…

Bowman, on the other hand, would be quite willing to help (which is why he shoved Sam away from the spider in the first place), but if he’s got a very intense and possibly accusing Dean on his case he might get flustered. He knows some of the right plants to help with a bite, but in the end his skill isn’t enough to do much healing so Sam would have to wait it out. At this stage, there’s no way Bowman could trust Dean enough to bring him to the village.

Remember Bothering Bowman, when Dean and Bowman argued in actual circles? It’s just how they make friends when there’s no Sam providing mediation.

August 31st excerpt:

Since Sam’s portion of the hot dog was cut into small pieces to make it manageable for the tiny hunter, Dean had to content himself with spearing the bite with his fork and dipping it in the ketchup, just like he’d done as a kid growing up. He could try piling it all into a bun to see how that would go, but since he was almost full, it seemed a waste of time.

Sam selected another shred of his leftovers and bun and had just begun to splice it all together when he happened to glance up at some movement on Dean’s chest. His eyebrows jumped up. “Dean!”

In the last story update it felt a bit like a missed opportunity to suggest maybe whomever cursed Jacob was waiting for him to grow hungry and desperate enough to go on a rampage, giving them plenty of time to get away and cover their tracks from any nosy hunters

Well, whatever happened to Jacob has happened some time ago, so if someone was waiting for him to get desperate enough to go on a rampage, they were disappointed.

Jacob is a very naturally calm person and has a lot of survival experience. He’s been able to trap food on occasion (or steal cows), and certainly hasn’t come close to the point of a rampage, even after getting shot up and threatened by Dean. Which Sam and Dean know now, so it went unmentioned.

I think! We might need some hints for the current story name guesses!

So.

#aol is metaphorical, much unlike Taserface’s name.

image

and #rj is very obvious! But ONLY if you’re up-to-date with the most recent episodes of Supernatural!

Someone guessed #rj, but #aol is still waiting!

August 30th excerpt:

The hunter pushed himself up on an elbow, tiredly rubbing a hand down his face to clear the sleep from his eyes.

Then he opened his eyes, and saw the scene unfolding on the nightstand.

“Jacob!” Dean exclaimed, sitting bolt upright.
