Comment: I feel REALLY bad for poor Bree in Brothers Consulted. In a way, aside from Mark and Anita who had to deal with being under Euan’s control for years, Bree had to undergo being taken away from her family (at least Mallory most likely survived this au), being forced to become a pet to a family of criminals with all sans one treating her like a doll, THEN getting shipped away to London and away from the only stability in her life (aka Beth) to get marked with a brand, and had she not gotten rescued, who knows what would’ve happened to her. And, unlike the others, she’s kind of alone in the whole situation. Mikael, Kara and Christian have each other. Anita and Mark got reunited. Even Dean and Sam were lucky enough to stick together through their whole ordeal on making it to London. Bree’s got nobody and since her family is back in the US, she’ll have to make the biggest adjustment of all since she has to probably learn how to borrow all over again.
Yes, Bree absolutely has the roughest path of the Americans they saved! Luckily for her, the British borrower population is very welcoming. Anyone that Sam and Dean are in contact with would take her in with open arms, and of course at the moment she can stay with the Winchesters during her initial recovery.
Her most important issue will be keeping her separate from humans, since right now she’s the most conditioned out of the crew they rescued. They can’t have her going back to humans and end up where she started at.
Comment: I love the ba multiverse so much! I just devoured the stories when I found them and I feel like the characters and world are tangible, after so many people have shared so enthusiastically in it together!
Anyway, I’m also a huge fan of Schitt’s Creek, and I have so much fun imagining a bizarre crossover. Moira meeting Dean, expounding on the simple pleasures in life (elitist things that totally go over his head), and Dean inexplicably waxing poetic about pie (trying to impress Moira, I’d imagine). Alexis saying “ew, David! I think I saw a mouse!” “Ohmygod what?! Where?” As Sam makes a run through the motel…
Anyway just wanted to say I love what you do thank you for sharing with the world you humble me.
It’s great to hear! We’ve put a lot of love into these characters and stories, and hope to continue doing so for a long time!
I haven’t personally seen Schitt’s Creek, so I can’t say much about it, but I do love me a good crossover! It’s fun to see these guys in all the different situations we can throw them into!
Comment: Okay, so we know how small the borrowers are to a normal-sized human, but being the weirdo I am, I had wandered how BIG humans must appear to borrowers just for fun! So I was doing some calculations (although I kinda figured you probably already did them) of how big regular humans would look to the borrowers.
So, on a 1/19 scale that you have them, for an adult borrower equivalent to be ranged between 5 foot to 6 foot (or 152.4 cm to 182.8 cm), they would be between 3.2-3.8 inches (or for the metrically inclined, 8.1-9.6 cm). Of course, Sam (and likewise Jacob) being 4 inches (10 centimeters), would be considered taller than most, meaning most borrowers wouldn’t even make the double digits in centimeter height.
This would mean that an adult human ranging between 5 ft-6ft/152cm-183cm, would appear to them as 95 to 114 feet (29 to 34.7 meters)!
So, with human (or formerly human-sized) characters that actually have a confirmed canonical height, they would probably appear to the canonical littles as followed (WARNING: some might be off):
Dean Winchester (6’0): 114 feet/(183cm)34.7 meters Sam Winchester (6’4): 120.2 feet/(193cm)36.6 meters Bobby Singer (5’11): 112.2 feet/(180cm)34.2 meters John Winchester (6’0): 114 feet/(183 cm)34.7 meters Jacob Andris (6’5): 122 feet/(195.5cm)/37.2 meters Sherlock Holmes (6’0): 114 feet/(183 cm)34.7 meters John Watson (5’6): 104.5 feet/(167.6cm)31.7 meters Stan Baker (6’0): 114 feet/(183 cm)34.7 meters Mycroft Holmes (6’1):115.5 feet/(185.4cm)35.2 meters
There’s a strong chance I got some of the characters’ height wrong (ex. I don’t know if Dean’s 6’0 or 6’1), but the main gist they’re around that height give or take.
Now, to compare borrowers to humans without going into the specifics of the 2d4d or and height factors, the average length of a male middle finger would range around 3.7-4 inches for men between 5 and 6 feet. Of course, this isn’t exactly accurate due to genetic variables and the like, but it’s roughly there. Meaning most borrowers would be shorter than an middle finger or even the index finger. Heck, some of the REALLY shorter borrowers (like Oscar, Moira, and ESPECIALLY Kiddo Sam and Kara for example) wouldn’t even make it to classify as ankle-height to some of the taller humans!
To put this in perspective, if the Statue of Liberty walked off her base and put her arm down, she’d be 111’6 feet (34 meters) tall, making her shorter than most of the main human characters (who are already on the tall side). All of them would be taller than the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro since it is 98 feet/30 meters tall without the base. And an elephant (which can range from 9-13 feet/3-4 meters to the shoulder) would be like a chihuahua or any toy breed dog AT MOST. Or going off of fictional examples, a Gundam (usually around or 59.5-65 feet/18-20 meters) suited to a borrower scale would be the size of a young child at 3.57 feet or 1.06 meters.
Needless, to say, the borrowers/littles have my sympathies. They’re even smaller than the Mary Norton’s borrowers (who, at 1/12 scale, would mean a six inch borrower would be freakishly tall to your borrowers). Personally, I prefer your scale since it’d give them the ability for them to hide more easily and get away with more stuff lol. But boy do they have their work cut out for them just trying to survive!
Also, love your stories! Was just nerding our on scale differences!
This is amazing! Thank you so much for this!
We definitely have a few select heights worked out for the giant along with the borrower scale (Dean, Sam, Jacob, ect…), but not everyone, so I’m going to store this in our reference section! There can never be enough nerding out on the scale differences, tbh.
I feel bad for the borrowers, too, lol! Growing up I always like the 4 inches or smaller scale, but when I originally designed this story I wanted the borrowers to both be v v smol, but also able to be independent and able to survive without any assistance. 6 inches was always too big for me to really enjoy, and 4 inches seemed like a good compromise. Now it’s my official favorite scale! I tend to avoid writing stories that go larger, though occasionally I like adding in a third mini-giant scale (like in Jacob in Wonderland).
As for Dean, we have him set at 6′1″, which gives him just enough height on Stan and Sherlock that he gets to strut.
Sam’s hands are pretty huge, so his fingers would be longer than all the borrowers. Dean’s aren’t small, either, so it’s hard to be tall enough to outsize his finger. Borrowers might be able to beat the length of regular-sized people’s fingers, at least. Those Winchesters (and Jacob!) run tall.
Don’t really know if you’re doing asks right now so I’m sorry if I’m being a little annoying but humans are often cause for conflict in these stories but has Sam and Dean ever encountered a borrower villain before or will in the future? I just thought it’d be kind’ve interesting.
We’re always open for asks, so don’t worry about it!
Truthfully, I keep wanting to do more on the blog, but the exhaustion levels from RL things right now are high, so I mostly end up just staring at a blank screen for a while before giving up. Getting an ask in always cheers me up, so feel free to message us anytime!
Borrower villains are definitely a thought that has occurred to us in the past, and I hope to be able to do more about them!
Originally, when I was following closer to the original Supernatural plot we were going to have Max (one of the original ‘special children’ from the series) show up as a borrower, much like Sam, with his same telekinetic abilities, which are killer for a borrower to have. I even had another OC planned for him, an empath that can influence how others feel.
This storyline got scrapped when I got rid of the original The Eye of the Beholderstory, but I still have it in the back of my head a lot, always wondering if I’ll be able to pull elements from it into a future story.
There are also a lot of options in the London side of things, where the borrower population is higher in density. More people means more chances for the bad to show up, and we certainly have plans one day!
Just because they’re smol doesn’t automatically make them innocent, and this is a theme I’m very much interested in exploring further with our crews!
I just hope to get my energy up higher soon so I can jump back to the editing and writing without feeling down.
Technicality Question: I know all the BAAU is Supernatural fanfic, but the ones with Jacob and Bowman… are they Bowman of Wellwood fanfic, or AUs? Considering that the original BoW author is cowriting the BAAU stories.
So I tried to do a little searching to figure this out. Most of what I found referred to published authors doing fanfiction of something other than their own work, so it’s tough to draw any conclusions.
With that in mind, the intent is that they’re all basically Supernatural/BoW crossover fanfiction AUs. I do have ideas for “official” AUs of BoW, but they’re not written at all.
Is the ‘Just Another Halloween’ story from this new AU (Brothers Unexpected) that you just started posting? Obviously, it is after they have grown up a bit and met, but it seems like Jacob knows Sam really well in it… maybe more than he would in Brothers Found? And Dean with Oscar also seems that way. Just curious. 😀 Also, I am loving the new story. Thank you for putting so much time and effort into all your stories!
Oh my, we weren’t expecting anyone to piece this together just yet!
Congrats, you are the first person to realize that Just Another Halloween actually takes place in the far distant future of Brothers Unexpected, long after many shenanigans that these four will be going through while they grow up!
And the winning story, with 40 out of the possible 100 votes, is…
A Time To Heal!
Sam’s arm might be broken, but this Winchester won’t let it hold him back! That is, if Dean ever stops fussing over him long enough to sneak out of the walls for some fresh air.
We return to Brothers Lost, to check in on Sam and to see how the brothers are doing with their new place in the walls at Jacob’s!
Due to a brief hiatus, this story will begin posting on October 6th!

Sneak peek:
Before he even made it up the steps, the door was opened by Mrs. Andris (she’d married and was technically Mrs. Ellison now, but had been Andris for so long that Chase hadn’t yet gotten used to the change; she didn’t mind).
“Chase! So glad to see you. Jacob just got back a little bit ago, he headed up to his room,” she said, drawing him into a hug as he walked in.
“Really? I didn’t see his car, I figured I might have to wait…” Chase replied, glancing out to the street again.
“Oh, he’s driving that big black car now,” Mariana said, her eyebrows shooting up conspiratorially.
Chase’s followed suit when he spotted the shining black car, a metal behemoth with a classic shape and what looked like a lot of power in it. It certainly suited Jacob well enough, but Chase had to wonder. Jacob wasn’t rolling in money; it wasn’t in his nature. “Where did he get that?! ”
Mariana rolled her eyes. “Oh, he got work restoring cars last month. I even called the guy to confirm, he’s letting him drive it around. Didn’t want it to just sit, I guess.”
“Holy shi– crap. Holy crap,” Chase said, a sheepish look coming onto his face while Mariana raised an eyebrow pointedly at him. “Well, I guess I better go give him a hard time about that,” he said, nodding towards the stairs.
She forgave his near-slip and nodded. “I bet he’ll be glad to see you,” she told him with a smile before softly padding back into the front living room where she’d been at work at a desk in the corner.
Chase had his hand on the banister and one foot on the bottom step when he happened to glance at the archway leading into the kitchen. Nothing seemed out of place, so the barest movement caught his eye, so slight he almost thought he imagined it. Chase’s eyes zeroed in on the appliances all the same, or rather, what he thought he saw moving behind them.
if Sam is hiding in the pocket, fully hidden and unnoticed, but Dean is chatting with another human, will the knack be mildly active due to the proximity or turned off completely?
Sam will, but only under certain conditions!
The knack is wholly psychic, so it operates without him actually needing to be seen. If someone glances at Dean’s pocket, he’ll feel a slight tingle and know to stay still. If someone actually knows he’s there, it’ll grow much stronger. The strength of the alert he gets is related to if someone has actually seen him and if they mean him any harm.
As it is, Sam will most likely elbow Dean to let him know whenever that happens. This way Dean can be sure to keep their attention off his pocket, or leave the situation if they’ve figured him out.
