Portability is definitely not why I write on this scale.

First things first, the main reason you see Sam standing at 4 inches tall is because the majority of my stories are either Brothers Apart, or AUs based on Brothers Apart. The scale is not going to change between them.

Second, I do have other stories that work with different scales. Reversal of Fate and An Ounce Of Courage both use the scale where Sam/Dean stand at 3 inches tall. This scale was discarded for BA because if he’s in it for the long haul, he’s going to need to do things for himself. He is not dependent on Dean in any way as some people seem to assume. Sam survived most of his life without his family around and could easily survive without them. He stays with Dean for reasons all his own.

–Sidenote here: In the horror story, Jacob is reduced down to barely an inch and a half tall and we’ll see exactly why that’s not a good thing. It’s a horror story for a reason.

I also won’t work with the Swift scale (Found in Gulliver’s Travels and The Borrowers). Since I write for enjoyment and I don’t enjoy writing my characters at 6 inches tall, you won’t find that here.

Lastly, the scales I and @neonthewrite use are not 4 inches = 6 feet.

Sam stands 4 inches tall, but his actual height is 6′4″. This gives us a ratio of about 1/19. If we put him and Bowman next to each other, they’re both 4 inches tall. Same scale, right?

Wrong! Bowman is actually the equivalent of 6′2″ in height. So he’s tall, but not quite at Sam’s height. He’s going to be disgruntled if they ever stand at the same scale and he comes to discover this human he can look straight in the eye is actually taller than him. Bowman’s ratio is about 1/18.5.

Oh my! I’m sure he’d think it a good joke, but I hope he wouldn’t go too far with it! It can be hard convincing someone so small that it was an innocent prank, especially if it poked at their pride. (Small Dean would not go for this, there’s at least a chance with small Sam).

I do see Dean getting flipped off at a minimum for retaliation, though.

I agree completely. That would be terrifying. Not to mention, at that point it’d be nearly impossible to interact with Dean at all. Sam and Bowman would have to be his caretakers.

I can’t say how small Jacob will end up (can’t give everything away 😉 ), but I will say that being smaller than both Sam and Bowman will really mess with his head. Being so little in general will be truly terrifying for Jacob, who’s used to being a towering six foot five.

One thing I’ve found in Supernatural is that, no matter what, these brothers find their way back to each other. No matter how much the odds are stacked against them, they are meant to be in the Impala, on their way to the next hunt.

Fate can only keep them apart for so long.

Aww, that would be so cute ^-^. They could have swimming lessons for Sam and Oscar since the tub is the size of a pond. Dean would have to watch those two closely, they are very smol kiddos.

Oscar would probably only be convinced to try if they gave him something to float on like that rubber duck. Poor little guy would fit down the drain, and since he’s generally so nervous, they’d need to sweeten the deal. And then he might just stay on his ducky the whole time. XD

Sam is not at a scale where this would be a problem. He might be much smaller than a regular human, but like a mouse, he’s a small mammal that would drink the water. Mice are smaller than Sam and are able to drink water without an issue, as we can see by their survival for millennia.

The surface tension of the water (what makes it ‘sticky’), is not too strong for them to drink. The same goes for Sam’s people. The smallest living mammal is barely 2.5 inches long at its longest, and these shrews do not choke on water when they drink. If we go smaller than an inch for scale, perhaps the cohesion of water might begin to be an issue for survival, but my fics never go down to this scale.

Another factor in any gt story is ‘suspension of disbelief,’ a term embraced by all science fiction writers. Certain parts of gt are not supportable in the real world, no matter how much we wish it so.

I do love Garth! He’s always a ton of fun on the show. The hard part is deciding how he’ll react, since he was only on the show a few times. I don’t ever want to mess up such a wonderful character.

Caleb isn’t someone we get to see for long, so I don’t think of him right away. I wish we’d gotten more of a look at John’s friends, especially him and Pastor Jim. They seemed to be rich characters.

And then they were dead.

Good thing there’s no Meg in my ‘verse so far! (Rumsfeld is very happy for this)

There will be other characters from Supernatural making appearances throughout the different stories, that’s for sure.
