@nightmares06

Ah, man, there’s just so many options. I’ll leave out the most obvious ones, since they tend to be canon pairings (Sam/Dean, John/Sherlock, Jacob/Bowman), and there’s some fun combos to be had!

Jacob/Sam– The quiet pair, both getting things done without so many impeding them. They need to look after their sassy counterparts, and know exactly what the other is going through. That being said, with Jacob so much younger than Sam, he looks up to Sam and admires him despite how Sam is so much smaller than he is most AUs, and this makes Sam puff up with pride for impressing the tallest human he’s ever met.

Dean/Bowman– Alot like Sherlock/Bowman, this pair has enough sass to end the world. We let them get into a loop of sass in at least one story, and had to find a way out without them just bickering to the end of time. Because, seriously, they would.

Oscar/Dean– Despite the odds, these two are an adorable pair. Dean usually scares the shit out of Oscar when they first meet, but when he gets past it, he’s going to be so proud, and Oscar gives him a good dose of perspective at how scary he can be to the small folk.

John/Sam– A lot like Jacob/Sam, these two are very chill, Sam looking up to the good doctor. Whether Sam’s tol or smol, he’d admire what John does every day, saving lives.

Dean/Sherlock– The world will implode from the sass.

@neonthewrite

Night is not exaggerating about those sassy pairs imploding the world though. Honest to God, we had a story with Bowman and Dean talking in circles for what was probably a chapter’s worth of sassing, and we opted to cut that down because they were getting ridiculous. I have no doubt that if Dean and Sherlock got started, they could do the same thing. Lessons have been learned. Things that should not be forgotten are immortalized in memory.

Oscar/Dean– I’m a huge fan of this too. They’re just such good buddies despite their beginnings (it’s something of a running joke in my own stories that Dean will grab Oscar at some point in each one). Dean is one of the scariest humans around just by being so intense, and yet Oscar warms up to him. It probably baffles anyone else who sees them. Can you imagine Bobby finding out that the most timid little he’s ever seen will just hang out with Dean Winchester, the guy even monsters are afraid of?

Sherlock/Bowman– We haven’t written anything for it yet, but musings have happened. They’d be such a funny pairing. Can you imagine Bowman fluttering around the ceiling of 221B or perching up on the curtains to yell at Sherlock? John would come back from groceries to Sherlock having a row with a flying plant person that fits in a pocket.

Jacob/Sam– Jacob and Sam are a pair near and dear to my heart. One of the earliest team-ups we imagined. They are both way too tol in proportion to Dean, and so they are dubbed Team Sasquatch. They get things done, and do not mess with them when they need to take care of their sassy counterparts. Do not.

Jacob/Oscar– The biggest and the littlest sweethearts. The cutes could go on and on.

Again, I haven’t had the honor of writing opposite @borrowedtimeandspace‘s take on the Baker Street Boys just yet, but I’d love to see how smol Jacob would fit in with them. There’ve been musings for that, too. 😉 Once we have a more solid plan, it’s only a matter of time.

@borrowedtimeandspace

Time is definitely something I wish I had more of ;w; So many ideas with all these characters, so many rl responsibilities getting in the way. Thank goodness for the internet and jotting down all the musings for later, because ONE DAY they will happen!

John/Jacob– smol Jacob especially would be cute to pair with my second-favorite doctor, but any iteration of either of them would just be chill and adorable.

Oscar/John– Similar to the above, but more along the lines of John doing his best to assure the lil guy that no one’s gonna hurt or trap him, not even Sherlock. All the tea and nibbles and cutes.

Oscar/Sherlock– And on the other hand… Regardless if Sherlock has already been ‘trained’ by smols, poor lil Oz would probably have a hard time interacting with the detective based on his intensity alone. Doesn’t help that Sherlock’s likely to poke if he doesn’t get a response right away. Unsupervised, I doubt much would get done between these two for a long time.

Sherlock/Bowman– I strongly agree that, if left to their own devices, these two would do little else but bicker and chase/avoid each other until the world collapsed around them. Help them.

And I pretty much agree 100% with John/Sam and Dean/Sherlock. All the cutes on one hand, all the sass in the other!

@borrowedtimeandspace

If living with Sherlock has taught John Watson one thing, it’s to go with the flow and try to make the best contributions to the situation at hand. Giant Jacob would be the most set-apart from the group thanks to his size, and lil Oz just needs a warm drink and some nibbles. John sees this and tries to help them feel comfortable.

And for Sherlock himself, the Lounge would certainly fill his head with questions, even if we take away the questions of how. So many versions of the same people is such an intriguing concept to the detective, and he’ll be sure to grill everybody just to find the subtle differences in their personalities and deduce the reasons for them. Even if he has to deal with the annoyance of being yoinked by a giant kid, the Lounge would at least never be boring.

@neonthewrite

One thing I can see happening for sure is John being a ready go-between for Jacob and all the other extra little guys. Everyone else being caught up in the shenanigans, someone’s gotta help Jacob communicate. It’s not his fault the others are gnat-sized to him! At least in the Lounge we can say they’re all safe from the concussive sound of his voice. @.@

@nightmares06

I’m so glad! Every time we do a lil special like this, something new comes out of it. It just so happens that this weekend birthed the AU lounge out of nowhere!

@neonthewrite

We’re super pumped that you’re enjoying it, because we’re loving it too. It gives everyone a chance to go nuts thinking about different pairings that haven’t happened/aren’t really planned for the aus.

@nightmares06

Yep, the second story is all about them finding Bowman!

It was actually the first story we wrote after finishing up A Lich of Sense, so we were still at the point in our writing where we were getting ideas like “But what if Jacob???”

It’s not quite canon Bowman, though, because he met Jacob after Jacob met Sam and Dean. In canon he’s known Jacob for much longer.

@neonthewrite

Yeah, Jacob finding Sam in Brothers Found definitely altered his own timeline with Bowman a little bit. At least it meant that there was no one to catch Bowman like in his canon story, thus leading to the domino effect of trouble finding Wellwood long before the lich did!

For making Jacob so little, though, we had to make sure he had his sprite buddy around.

@nightmares06

Aww! Lil Weechesters meeting their older counterparts! And if there’s a wee Sammers and Dean, there’s a wee lil Oz in the room too, looking out at all these people so nervously! Older smol Dean will have to coax his younger buddy out so he can get to know them all.

Wee lil Ozzie riding around on Spritely Sam’s shoulders like Vel does tho.

BT Sam will be running around to introduce himself to everyone, including John and Sherlock, since clearly they know his older (older) brother, they’ve gotta be nice guys, right? He wants to know everything about them and has a million questions saved up for when they’re around.

@borrowedtimeandspace

John would have absolutely no evens meeting kiddo versions of Sam and Dean, careful with every word and movement. It’s something special, to have trust and strong interest from such a small kid.

Sherlock, of course, would be fascinated right back, offering his own questions in return. He wonders about how much their personalities have and haven’t changed over the years they’ve been small, and meeting their kiddo selves would definitely be informative.

@neonthewrite

Aww jeez. Kiddo Oscar meeting versions of his Sam and Dean all grown up. He’d be so shy with everything going on, I can see him attaching himself to one of the Winchesters just so he has someone to hide behind. Y’know, just in case.

At least with him around, extra tiny Jacob would have someone a little closer to his height. Oscar finding himself actually taller than someone would be amusing, he’d have to show off to Dean!

@nightmares06

Too bad for Sherlock that Jacob usually leans towards listening to Dean, especially when he’s so stern about something! No one messes with or startles Dean’s Oz (except for Dean), so something clearly must be done here.

@borrowedtimeandspace

To be fair, it’s hard for Sherlock to not be intimidating to smols. He’s not the most sociable of human beings, and smols fascinate him so. Luckily he’s got John to vouch for him, if he feels his poor flatmate’s predicament isn’t quite equitable.

@neonthewrite

Jacob would probably be willing to listen to John, too. He’s the guy with the tea, after all. And Sherlock, at least, wouldn’t be in any danger from Jacob. He might get a poke or two, but giant Jacob is just as fascinated by these little guys as Sherlock is by the other smols. Everyone is fascinated!

Have a question for us? Ask away! And don’t feel like it has to be just about the stories! We’re open to talk about anything!

All they have to do is ask! If it ever comes up in an AU, it seems like Sam is more likely to take interest in languages. Jacob would be happy to teach either of them a few phrases in Greek, since he’s quite proficient in it (when he’s home, calls from grandma are usually held in entirely Greek at her stubborn insistence).

Of course, I can also see Dean finding something written in ancient Greek and telling Jacob to take a stab at it. Jacob would have to explain that modern Greek has heavily evolved from its roots, just like English has.

@borrowedtimeandspace

John wouldn’t leave the poor kid feeling isolated, no matter how…much he is to take in at first. It’s easy to see how sweet the kid is, and once he’s over his jitters from being near someone so large, he’ll gladly offer the kid a cup of tea.

I’m sure we can imagine a cup of tea and a few biscuits to suit Jacob if we can imagine a room big enough to fit him and others with room to spare.

John would be proud to spend a bit of time with Jacob, show him that not everyone will think he’s so scary if given a proper introduction. Even if Sherlock continually prods him about what exactly made him so big.

@neonthewrite

Jacob would very much appreciate John’s efforts (and the tea). Some nice relaxation would be a welcome change from the running and screaming that giant!Jacob is used to. The two sweethearts can have a normal conversation despite Jacob being so huuuge.

He’d be amused by Sherlock’s prodding, if nothing else because Jacob himself has no answers for why he’s so big. He’d like to know just as much. If Sherlock can suss it out, he should tell Jacob before he tells anyone else, please.

@neonthewrite

Oh jeez. Should we count extra small Jacob as his own entity, even though he’s technically human Jacob temporarily shrunk down to the ittiest of the bittiest sizes? It’s definitely more fun that way if I’m honest (and he hates me whenever I muse about him being extra smol).

Oscar would probably be nervous around Sherlock’s brand of intensity that he’s always giving off. He’d have to curl up in a ball or possibly scurry off to hide if this hypothetical lounge has places for that. Maybe he’ll take teddy Jacob along, just to keep him safe.

Of course, if John offered tea, Oscar might be convinced to come out. Maybe. One of the Deans might have to help with the convincing.

@borrowedtimeandspace

John would certainly try to keep the peace with whoever he interacted with, especially if they’re smaller than him. A cup of tea or a shared biscuit would not be missed with him around.

Sherlock, of course, can hardly keep still. Not with, at any given time, a giant, a few smols, an extra-smol, and a sprite! Bowman would probably fascinate him more than any of them, he’d probably have much more to worry about than poor Oscar or wee Jake.

@nightmares06

Aa, a lounge for them all to chill in is just too cute. Human Sam bugging his smol counterparts, especially interested in spritely Sam’s wings, fascinated to see them at work, and excited when Sam’s willing to land on his hand and demonstrate.

The Deans would be in a corner bickering until one of their friends needs help. Then it’s off to scowl at Sherlock for making Oscar nervous.
