I love your stories! Do you have any advice for G/T beginning writers?
Thank you! I’m not the best at giving advice, but I’ll try my best! (I’m really sorry if these are all terrible or not what you asked for…)
- The first thing to figure out is what sizes your characters are. Since Gt just means interaction between two or more people of extreme size differences, and there are a lot of options. One could be a giant while the other is human. One could be a borrower or a fairy, or even a human who was shrunk. But it’s good to get what species your characters are first and foremost. (I usually go for the borrower option, I just find that the most fun)
- Now this next one is more of an opinion and does all depend on the character and you, of course, but there should be a factor of fear within the ‘tiny’ character towards the ‘giant’ character. Unless they have known each other for a long time, even then, there might still be an underline of fear.
- Descriptions are your best friend when writing Gt scenes. Usually this happens in the tiny’s pov, with things like describing what it’s like sleeping on a giant chest, or describing how it feels to have a giant looming over you and being in their shadow. How they feel more than hear a laugh. But descriptions are also important in the giant’s pov, with describing the feeling of having the tiny in their hands for the first time, or the first time they try to ‘hug’ them. Things like that.
- It’s good to have a clear size in your head for your giant and/or tiny character. Personally, I like the tiny being around 4 to 6 inches tall in comparison to the giant (meaning, an actual giant would be around 65 feet tall I believe, don’t quote me on that). It’s perfect handheld size, while not being too big or small. Though, again, that is just my preference and you are perfectly fine with going bigger or smaller than that. Just know that if you decide to make your character a borrower, they are 4 to 6 inches tall, according to the books and movies.
- There are a lot of Gt cliches and it is perfectly fine if you use them.

I REALLY love the “Brothers Apart” series from what I’ve seen, but I feel so guilty because I never seem to have the time to catch up on what’s going on ;;; That and I really need to rewatch the earlier seasons of SPN, oof. It’s been far too long since it was a major love of my life.

Have you ever heard of nightmare06’s Brothers Apart universe because if you like SPN and G/t, that’s pretty much the best place for it. If you haven’t read her stuff, it’s so worth it.
Heck yeah I’ve heard of it! I’ve been reading Brothers Apart and all the other AUs that have branched off from it since back before I had a tumblr account! I was only on fanfiction back then, and I found @nightmares06’s stories just by searching through the Supernatural tags, if I remember correctly. I was hooked from the very first story that I read which, funny enough, wasn’t even Brothers Apart. I read The Comeback Kid first, and I would refresh the page everyday to see if a new chapter had been posted! It is still one of my favorite gt SPN stories of all time. From that point on, I read all of the stories that weren’t part of a series (The Dollhouse, An Ounce of Courage, Reversal of Fate, etc.) since I was a bit intimidated by such a large series at first, but after falling in love with all of those stories as well, I just knew that I HAD to read the series. Brothers Apart was the only one there at the time that I was reading them, so the AUs hadn’t been posted yet. From there, I read through every single new part any chance that I got when I had free time and I finished them pretty quickly. I had a lot more free time back then though, so I’ve unfortunately fallen a bit behind on my reading for the other AUs, but I always make absolutely sure that I stay up to date on Brothers Apart stories and one of the newer AUs, Brothers Consulted (I’m a big fan of Sherlock too). I’ve read at least the first story of all of the other AUs, and they are all insanely creative as well. I can only hope to write a story as well-done as the different AUs in the Brothers Apart world, and I really admire all of the writers who work on those stories as well ( @neonthebright sent me a prompt a while back and I was literally screaming with excitement all through my house when I got that in my inbox). All of the writers that put so much work into those stories are incredible. I don’t know how they manage to crank out so many stories in so many AUs, but it’s beyond amazing to see their work in action! Keep being awesome @brothersapart! I’m hoping to get through all of the AUs one day just so I can keep going on these amazing adventures that you create!

Hmm. Not sure why so many people want to know my favorites for things. I mean, I like making people happy by letting them know how much I like their blogs, but I also feel a bit bad that I can’t just list everyone that I follow as a favorite! For the sake of this anon’s curiosity, I’ll try to narrow it down, but just so everyone knows, if I follow you, you are still a fave to me. Believe me, if you weren’t then you’d know… because I wouldn’t be following you anymore XD
Please note: This list is technically subject to change I guess. Also, I’m not including the blogs that I mentioned in the question about my favorite G/t artisits because, to me, those are obviously a given on this list because why would some of my favorite artists not also be some of my favorite blogs to follow? lol! Anyway, at the moment some of my top five faves are…
1) @canadianrainrp This blog has AMAZING g/t stories (especially Forever Home, so go check that out). There is so much g/t fluff between characters as well as mystery behind their backstories, so I’m always eager to read more stories that pop up on this blog! Go check ‘em out if you haven’t already!
2) Gotta go with @tummyspelunk Cute g/t stuff? Check! Lots of fluff? Check! VORE GALORE??? Double, triple, and quadruple check! Not only does this blog have all of the g/t stuff that I could ask for, but it’s just a page of positivity that always makes me smile! 🙂 Not to mention that tummyspelunk drops his own stories in there from time to time, and I can’t get enough of ‘em!
3) @tiny-taker Now here’s another page that I’ve basically been following since I got a tumblr. Not only do I like seeing the g/t art and stories that show up here, but I also love when tiny-taker shows recommendations for g/t related stuff like books and movies that I may not have known about before! Plus, I recently learned that they’re a fellow lover of the Indian in the Cupboard like me, so it’s cool to know that I’m not the only one who still likes those books lol! XD
4) @arc852 OH… MY… GOSH! This was one of the first blogs that I just HAD to turn notifications on for! I mean, I love g/t. I love YouTube. Putting those both together? OMG! When I found this blog, it was like I had died and gone to heaven! I adore these stories since I love every single one of the YouTubers included, and the stories are so well-written! Arc, if you’re reading this, PLEASE TELL ME WHAT HAPPENED TO NATE IN THE SCHOOL! I HAVE TO KNOW! Lol just kidding… kind of, but just know that I love your stories and I can’t wait to read more!
5) @brothersapart This is one of my faves for sure! I love Supernatural, and pairing it with g/t in stories that have such detailed and well-developed storylines is awesome to me! I actually started following these stories on Fan Fiction before I even had a tumblr, so I’ve been a fan of them for a while. Keep up the good work over there! I’ll be reading for sure! Can’t wait for Brothers Consulted!

23. Who is your best friend? Probably @sabriel-fanboy-83. Even separated by distance, we find time to talk pretty much every day. 🙂 I have a lot of irl friends and other Tumblr friends too, but Chris and I talk most often I think.

Well, I have to say @thatsthat24 and @bisexualdemondean are the ones I always squeal at when I get notifications. I also really enjoy @brothersapart. Tumblr says I do a lot of liking and reblogging from @littlesasquatch, @archangelsanonymous, @tenoko1, and @tree-of-blue-squirrel as well. 🙂

A Compilation of SPN size!fic
There’s a good smattering of SPN size!fic out there on the interwebs, but it took me a long while to find the good stuff. All of this is SFW (aside from warnings listed) and definitely worth your while. There’s fics of all shapes and sizes (heh), so hopefully you find one that interests you. And I swear I tried so hard to find more tiny!Dean and tiny!Cas fics, but I’m afraid they are unicorns

The focus is always on the brothers’ relationship, and it is usually fairly canon-compliant aside from the obvious. And it’s ongoing! There are new stories and updates all the time. It’s feelsy, and snarky, and creative, and I am in love with it.

Sky’s Notes: This is one of those fics I keep coming back to read. The size interaction is on point, walking that thin line between careful!guilty!big!Dean and careless!teasing!big!Dean. There are some priceless moments (think Dean cuddling the tiny!Impala in his sleep. Yes. That happens.) as well as some genuinely scary parts. It twists and turns and goes everywhere you don’t expect. It’s probably my favorite fic of all time.

Deanzilla vs Hydros by nej47
Summary: Dean slays a monster, only to become pretty monstrous himself. But Dean’s not about to let a little — okay, very big — size issue stop him from kicking ass and taking names.

Sky’s Notes: If you ever had a craving for big!Dean, look no further. This is everything you ever wanted, believe me. Humorous, angsty, a good dose of hurt/comfort, and an epic final battle all feature prominently. Dean is determined to silently push through the pain (both physical and emotional), and Sam is confused and concerned. Oh, and don’t forget all the snark. There’s lots of that. Set in Season 4, and as such has the obligatory inclusion of both Bobby and Castiel.

Summary: Sequel to Deanzilla! On top of demons, angels and even Sam, Dean must also struggle with his new giant powers. To add insult to injury, the key to controlling them is an affront to his no-chick-flick-moments male pride.

Sky’s Notes: This is the sequel to Deanzilla vs Hydros, and is set later in Season 4. There’s even more angst in this one. Like, so much angst. I won’t spoil any more of the good stuff, just read it already!

A Rare Sense of Humor by Obsess-Confess and giantgirl
Summary: In which the Trickster (Gabriel) takes it upon himself to teach Sam Winchester a lesson. So naturally, he shrinks him down to 6 inches and sends both brothers on a confusing wurst throughout New York City and beyond!

Sky’s Notes: Pure crack. The boys basically go on a scavenger hunt through New York City and…Candyland? Cas of course gets pulled in somehow, Gabriel is a well-meaning jerk, and Sam isn’t the only one to take a turn as a tiny.
