June 19th excerpt:

Placing his hand carefully against the table, Dean beckoned to Sam. “Gimme some of that sandwich,” he commanded.

Sam stuck his lip out but didn’t argue. “Kay,” he said, pinching off a corner.

Dean took it, flattening the bread between two fingers. “How ‘bout you get some rest and eat up?” he offered the kid, motioning with his head to the books he might be able to sit on. “Take it easy while we figure this out.”

November 5th excerpt:

Sam glanced up, grinning to see Jacob returned. “Hey!” The coffee had done its magic, waking him up and giving him the energy to face the day.

Then Sam saw how many books Jacob had in his arms, and his eyebrows climbed up his forehead. “Did you bring the entire Library of Congress in from the car at once?”

April 8th excerpt:

“Well, hey, Dean, it looks like you’re ready for some light summer reading,” Jacob quipped while he appraised one of the thicker books, feeling strange that even in a library he had to speak up to have any hope of being heard. The landscape of books was almost cool from this angle, creating a labyrinth of immovable blocks that might as well stretch on forever.

Dean rolled his eyes at that, opening up one of the books for Sam to peruse. Jacob backed away cautiously, keeping himself out of the way. “At least I won’t have a pop quiz to worry about when I’m done.”

December 31st excerpt:

The humans weren’t kept waiting long. At the back of the shelf, beyond where any of the books would reach unless they were shoved back all the way, Dean’s little shadow slipped from the corner. The crack he came from was expertly concealed to be hidden from view if one of the books in front was removed.

With the books gone, Dean had never felt so exposed leaving his own front door.

The tension in the air was so thick in the main room of the flat that even Dean picked up on it. He stepped up to the edge of the fabric John had gathered, his eyebrows going up as he saw it was all the same color. It didn’t take him long to piece together the fact that John had shredded a shirt for them to use, brushing a hand over a freshly-frayed edge.

@nightmares06 –

Oh, I have and I just love it! Especially when things get swapped around, and I’m always a fan of Boone. And her other book, the Fairy Rebel was one of the books I read again and again as a kid, over and over. Those formed a lot of my first impressions with g/t, along with The Borrowers. It was so hard to find good g/t when I was a kid! Always hoping for that one episode of a story where someone gets shrunk, (watching the horrifying movie The Incredible Shrinking Man that scarred me for so long), Honey I shrunk the kids…

March 7th excerpt:

He reached over them to experimentally nudge a book back to its upright position, and pushed it back a little farther. “Wow. With this setup no one would even know you guys were in there,” he noted appreciatively.

Dean slapped the hand that was encroaching in on their space. “And it’s gonna stay that way,” he said pointedly. “Now quit it! If you keep pushing the books back Sam will take over the entire place while he sleeps.”
