They’ve innovated a few different types of weapons for him, including his hook, but this hasn’t occurred to them. Normally they stick to stuff that’s more useful against the monsters they hunt– Silver, iron, salt and such. This kind of thing would be more useful against rodents and people, and Sam’s grown used to his knife for defense.

(Legos are a form of torture implement)

If Sam was to do the entire motel, it could easily take a month or more if he wanted to cover every possible place that littles could be. For his purposes, he will stick close to Dean’s room and look at the closest hallways. He’s checking for signs that anyone lives at the motel; small bootprints, signs that the inner wall has been modified to be more accessible, stuff like that.

He won’t ask to stay in a motel after their hunt is done unless he finds trace of his people.

It sounds like a great idea! Though the brothers don’t often put time aside for personal projects, I can see this being a weekend thing if either of them needs to take a break and recuperate from a hunting injury. They could even make some for the field burrow, supplies are always welcome there. And the littles living there are always up for a trade, especially with some of the stuff they craft themselves.

I actually have a few ways I imagine it! We have the initial layout from the first story of Brothers Apart:

The arrows and circles showing where Sam and Dean were standing on their initial first encounter, small escape paths and entrances for Sam marked at the sides.

Then we have the actual layout of the real Trails West, another good reference for the room:

New Chapter is up!

Nightmares06 made me do it!
They just had to write a
couple of lines in ‘Garlic and Cold Spots’, talking about dressing
Dean up as a dragon. Just *had* to do it. Sigh, welp, here’s Dean as
a dragon in Oscar’s hotel, The Knights Inn.
It takes place in
my story in chapter 31 for Dragon!Dean is Still Scared of Heights. So
Dean is 6 inches tall and injured. But this time, he doesn’t stay
asleep. Soon as Sam and Bobby drift off, he’s wide awake and
worrying. He decides to take a walk around the motel room to wear
himself out when he sees an impossibly small person slip into the
room through the heating vent and steals a couple of peanuts and
M&M’s from a bag of trail mix. Dean follows the mousy guy out and
gets stuck in the walls in a pile of plaster pinning him helplessly
down. He fears he’s going to die in there when suddenly there’s a
familiar face walking towards him with mousy guy in tow. It looks
like Sam but that’s impossible. The guy is 4 inches tall and 10 years
younger then he should be, and he doesn’t recognize his brother at
all.

The last time they encountered a case like that in 1.08 – Bugs, they actually didn’t break the curse on the land, and a large ghost attack like that is much like a curse. They would have to find signs of the ancient burial ground to get it protected by the state (occasionally works), or find a way to put the spirits to rest if that didn’t pan out. Hoodoo is a better option than a salt and burn, so they’d need to find someone well-versed in the belief and willing to help.
