We won’t announce the story name when we post excerpts, and we won’t say which stories are from which AUs, but we do put a tag on each excerpt that points to the name for when the polls come out (unless it was written before we started excerpts, there’s still a few stories that were never excerpted).

If anyone is up for playing, we can always make a game of it. If anyone guesses the name of the story using the abbreviation, we’ll confirm if they got it right or not. We still won’t announce officially which AU it’s from, but you’ll have the name and be one step closer.

Which means that I can confirm that the anon who guessed that #jiw stood for Jacob in Wonderland got it right! Jacob’s going on a trip to Wonderland he’ll never forget…

A bit more on tags:

#trnt here is the abbreviation of the story the excerpt came from– later revealed to be “The Road Not Taken”

Abbreviations we’ve used and their names if announced:

The last kind of tag you’ll see is the queue tag:

All this means is it is a reblogged excerpt from 2016, you can go to the original post to find out its tags.

This has been a dissertation on tags!

@esoulix

Aa, happy birthday! Hope you’re either far from the blizzard or safe and warm on your birthday!

There’s not much difference between the Winchesters in the AUs. They often forget about celebrations, occasionally remembering to celebrate one or two. Jacob often ends up being the one to prod them into having a good time, especially when he’s making sure Sam or Oscar get to experience the good side of the human world.

I don’t want to give away too much of the stories, but even if Sam doesn’t have to fix Dean up in Brothers Apart, he’ll definitely be helping that big brother of his out in one AU or the other. He’s not as medically trained as Dean is by simple fact that Dean’s had to be able to stitch himself or his dad up since childhood, but Sam did learn some basic first aid from both Walt and Dean.

Those just sound delicious.

If I was little, checking out puddles and streams like this would definitely be on my list of ‘must-do’s. Once the silt settles, you can see all the fish swimming along and probably checking Sam out curiously, and he can call up to Dean what he’s looking at. But Dean better not step in the stream! He’ll scare off all the fish.

Supernatural tradition!

But really, most low end motels aren’t going to offer different room styles to choose from. It’s often ‘take what you can get,’ and two queen-sized beds is the most common format found at motels. If you want a room with a single bed, you’ll find that most of them are going to be king sized, and you have to pay extra for that, something Dean’s not gonna do.

Plus, a part of him is always saving that second bed for the possibility that Sam will be able to use it one day. Picking rooms with a single bed feel like he’s giving up.

There’s all kinds of things they could make instruments out of, all they’re bound by is their imagination!

Drums can be formed out of animal hide like Walt makes (though it’s not something he’d do, at least. They gotta stay quiet at the motel). Small branches and sticks can be hollowed out into pipes, leaves can make noise all their own, hollow trees can form other styled drums, the list goes on!

It really depends on the littles in question! There’s no “they like it” or “they hate it” here.

Someone like Walt or Arthur would see it as unnecessary, a frivolous pursuit for humans who don’t have to spend their days trying to survive. On the flipside, Mallory would love to discover embroidery, and how to do it for herself. She could spruce up their home, add some more splashes of color to brighten the place up.

In Britain, with the closer knit society, they don’t need to focus solely on survival. Some of the borrowers over there spend most of their lives sewing, and if they want to add some flourish to the fabric, they can do so. They trade for what they need, resulting in more specialized skillsets over the pond.
