July 22nd excerpt:

Dean let out a breath and slid his duffel bag from his shoulder, lightly dropping it in the corner. “Now what?”

Jacob glanced to the duffel and the loud clatter it made as it settled on the floor before looking up at Dean. From his position held up in the air, he had a good vantage point of a room in a motel that should be more familiar. Jacob hadn’t had time to memorize his surroundings there before he was hit by the shrinking. After that, he hadn’t come back.

Until now. In one of the weirdest missions he’d ever heard of. “How would I know what to do?” he asked, exasperated.

July 16th excerpt:

This phone held John’s number, Bobby’s, Sam’s cell he’d bought at the beginning of the year in case the kid needed to call him from the room, their new friend Jacob, known through their association with the wood sprite Bowman Leafwing, and some of Dean’s old hunting buddies. This meant it was seconds before Dean had the message up on his phone, holding it towards John for him to see.

8-13-05; 12:07AM – Haven, Kansas

“Dean,” John said slowly. “I don’t know who sent you that message, but it wasn’t me.

Dean closed his mouth from the shock. “Then who–“

It was indeed!

During original brainstorming for Sam’s home, Haven, Kansas was the location I ran with because of how perfect the name of the town was for the purpose it would serve in his life. A safe haven to grow up in.

One of the motels in the area is Trails West, so if anyone’s in the area, they should drop in and snag a room. Maybe you’ll see a familiar face peeking out at you!

(I claim no ownership of the name and none of the events in my story have actually happened 😛 This is all just fun and entertainment.)
