@brothersapart here’s another Jacob entry.
It’s more cartoonish then the last but it works lol. (Cautious) ‘Jacob in wonderland’ 😏
I’ll put this one down as an entry for the deviantart side of the contest. Love that Jacob ❤

Jacob from: ‘Jacob in wonderland’. It’s like sams p.o.v, while jacob is siting down next to him. @brothersapart is this an ok entry? Nightmare06?
It’s perfect!
March 14th excerpt:
A deep, gruff voice resounded around the room. “Come out, come out, wherever you are!” echoed straight through Jacob, giving off an oddly-playful vibe. Of course, playful for the stranger could mean a whole lot of trouble for Jacob, considering the sheer difference in their sizes.
The boots stepped farther into the room, and the door swung shut, trapping Jacob in with a stranger that seemed to know he was there.
Sam stirred as he heard something bump into something nearby, sleepily he turned to see his younger brother making his way through the dark with his hands outstretched in front of him. “Jacob?”
“Sorry, did I wake you?” Jacob turned, squinting at the direction of Sam’s voice, after only a couple months of being cursed his eyesight had improved significantly in the dark but it still had a long way to go.
Sam brushed Jacobs question off, instead asking his own, “What are you doing up so late?”
“I had another nightmare.” He mumbled.
“Come here.” Sam scooted over so Jacob would have room to sit with him. “Do you want to talk about it?”
Jacob remained silent and for a moment Sam thought he had drifted off to sleep, “Not really, can I just stay here?”
“Of course, and don’t worry about the nightmares. The first few months are always the hardest.”
They sat there in a comfortable silence, both silently morning what they had lost.
Walt found them there in the morning, both leaning on each other for support in their sleep, he smiled, loving both of his sons
I would like to enter this in the contest.
Thank you for the contest submission, @max-lenning!
March 12th excerpt:
Seeing no options on top of the bed, Jacob edged toward the side. Peering over the side was like looking down into a canyon. He’d only climbed down the blankets to the floor once before, and that was with someone nearby to catch him in case he slipped.
There was a resounding click followed by the ominous echo of a door creaking open. Jacob didn’t have any time.
He started a downward climb. It was tough, and clumsy for someone who didn’t practice climbing much at all, but his fingers fit in the weave of the blanket hanging over the side of the bed. It was like climbing down a huge, thick net.
March 11th excerpt:
Jacob shuffled over to the music player and crouched down next to it. The cord from the earphones was cumbersome, and it almost felt like it was actively trying to tangle around him as he pushed it aside so he could reach the buttons.
When he could finally see the front of the device, now the size of a TV for him, he pressed an entire hand on one of the buttons. Choosing his own music, at least, was something he could still do by himself without someone making an argument against it.
The day really snuck up on me. I decided to do one of my writing prompts for the year with a Valentine’s theme, and this is the result. Jacob, as ace as can be, giving a pep talk to his best buddy on the day of dates and hearts and all that sappy stuff. The start of it came from a prompt, which I’ll put in bold, and the rest is mine.
“Just let me have like three seconds to pretend everything is okay before we go back in there.”
Jacob raised his eyebrows and wrestled a bemused smirk from his face. “Seriously, dude? It’s just some cheesey dance.”
Chase shot him an exasperated look. Of the two of them, he seemed better prepared for the event. His suit was crisp and he’d actually put some effort into styling his sleek black hair. By contrast, Jacob had a nice button-up shirt, some slacks, and he’d done his hair in the same style he always did. Chase was ready to charm people, by the looks of things.
It was odd to see him so unnerved about a social event. If Bobby wasn’t spending the whole time with his girlfriend, he’d have already started giving him shit over this.
Jacob was tempted, but instead he clapped his small friend on the back. “Come on, Chase,” he encouraged. “There’s free food in there. That’s like specifically for the people who showed up without dates. Eat your loneliness.”
Chase sent him one more put-upon look, and then glanced at the doors back into the gym. The hallway was decorated with signs and streamers in red, pink, and white, all pointing towards that big echo chamber. Their school didn’t have many dance events like this, but everyone always went to them.
What else was there to do?
“Come on, man,” Chase muttered. “This is easy for you. You get to just go ‘nah’ to the whole date thing and go have fun.”
Jacob rolled his eyes. “You know, bi or not, you could just do that, too. You don’t have to have a date.”
Chase huffed and stood up straight. Next to Jacob, he barely even reached a shoulder, but his usual confidence returned in small bursts all the same. Chase was the kind of person who could talk his way into (or out of) anything. Or, most anything. He’d asked a handful of people to go to the event with him, but they’d all paired up already.
“They better be good and ready for me, then,” he said, almost more to himself, but Jacob laughed along with him. When he opened the door again, the music and talking all but burst out into the hall, welcoming them back to the party.
Chase’s grin was already back in place. “Who’s ready to mingle?”
( From this post )
So many! ❤ My lesser known bbys get a chance to shine, too.
5. List 3 fears; one “surface level” fear, one “repressed” fear, and one “deep dark” fear.
Surface Level Fear: He fears being clumsy around the sprites
Repressed Fear: He used to have a fear of getting so lost no one would ever find him. This has worn down somewhat, but he does make sure to bring a compass when he goes hiking.
Deep Dark Fear: He’s afraid of forgetting what his dad was like. As the years go by, it’s harder and harder to remember, and this bothers him at the back of his mind.
35. If they could change one thing about themselves, what would it be?
Jacob is very secure in his sense of self after a lot of self meditation and such, but he knows he can always improve. He would probably try to aim for knowing what to say in somber situations, because he really doesn’t know what to say; they’re like his weak point and he might just go for an awkward pat on the back or a somewhat lame condolence.
1. What is one word to shut them up?
If that’s even possible with Bowman, haha. In all seriousness, it’s not a word but a threat against his wings will definitely give him pause. Not a very long pause, mind.
13. Which of the 7 Deadly Sins best describes them?
Pride, for sure. Bowman is super proud of his wings and his skills. The other sins don’t really fit him much at all, either. Wrath is a solid maybe, but he’s really just all bluster.
3. What is the worst pain they’ve ever experienced?
Elias has been in a lot of fights, and some of them were pretty bad. He would say that the worst pain was a gut wound, one that nearly wiped him out completely. However, the actual worst pain he’s dealt with was more metaphysical. In last year’s nanowrimo project, he had a good deal of his divinity ripped out of him. It hurt deeply, even if he didn’t recognize it right away.
9. What is their greatest physical weakness?
This is a tough question for a character who’s already so strong as a baseline. But, as a mortal, Elias has plenty of weaknesses. However, in his canon, there is a material called Korvasin Grey Metal that would cause many of his demigod magics to flee for a time, and that would leave him really vulnerable.
15. Who do they hate the most?
He hasn’t encountered them again since he met them, but he hates the poachers who came into his forest and killed pretty much every other arbor pixie with a misfired magical trap. It wasn’t meant for them, but that doesn’t stop him from resenting these people, and the fact that they took him away after that doesn’t help either.
25. Have they ever been betrayed by someone they thought they could trust?
He used to travel with a group of adventurers before he met Elias. One of them actually sold him to a black market at one point, and he almost didn’t manage to escape. When he did, there was some hell to pay.
March 10th excerpt:
The lock on the front door clicked shut in the distance, and Jacob heaved a sigh. He flopped backwards on his bed to stare at the ceiling, while the simple relief of having some time to himself settled over him. It had been so long since his mom had given him any solitude at all, always hovering nearby or having him stay somewhere in the same room where she was working.
