September 19th excerpt:

Younger sprites, many of them restless after being kept inside so much in recent days, hoisted themselves up on the window sills. Any kid that spotted Sam on Dean’s shoulder sent him excited waves. More than one nestling dropped back to the floor in their home with quiet thumps in their excitement to see the sprite-sized human, especially when he waved back with a grin.

Absolutely beware the angry bird. They will fuck you up if you mess with their nestling Sammers.

Sammers doesn’t grow like a regular nestling, but they love him anyway. He will just have to accept some rides from the sister hen when they want him to keep up with them and Dean.

May 2nd excerpt:

One of the nestlings leaned out further and grinned, and Jacob recognized those fluttering wings for sure. The kids were several feet away from them, and yet the distance probably seemed so much greater in their eyes. They had to tilt their heads back slightly to keep Dean and Jacob’s faces in sight.

“We came ta visit!” Vel announced. He finally stepped out of hiding entirely, folding his hands behind his back while his wings rustled in spite of himself. “We were wondering if, maybe … didja wanna play?”

March 16th excerpt:

“There are warnings that humans are dangerous to us. That they’d cage or eat a sprite, or pull at their wings.” Scar narrowed his eyes at this, looking thoughtful. Cerul could feel strains of doubt among his pensive friend’s restless emotions.

“Call me crazy but that nestling isn’t anything like that,” Scar insisted. “Even if he was … four and a half blasted feet tall, I doubt he’d want to hurt a fly.”
