I’ve thought about this myself! I can’t imagine trying to write Oscar as a human at any point, but it’s too fun to think about what superpower it would give him anyway.

I ended up with pyrokinetics! Oscar would be able to create little flames and control them to a degree. Can you imagine him discovering that? One second he’s got a tiny fireball in his hand and he doesn’t know what to do with it. Looking around at Sam and Dean like halp!

October 2nd excerpt:

Despite the tension between the others, Sam burst out into a grin. “You’re our size!” he blurted in surprise. He was thrilled to know that there were others like them out in the world, and they weren’t just in Haven.

Oscar wasn’t aware that his eyes could get even wider. But the other person approached and they definitely did. He glanced back and forth between the pair. This second guy, with longer hair, was a whole four inches tall. The one with the hooded jacket wasn’t far behind, either. These guys were enormous.

Am I? Am I your size?! he wanted to say. But Oscar’s hands were still clamped firmly over his mouth to prevent any noises of alarm from escaping him. This was exactly the last thing he wanted to happen.

October 1st excerpt:

Oh crap, Oscar thought, practically holding his breath. If he heard correctly, they were going to come searching for people in the walls … did that human have them bringing people out that he could also capture? Oscar sidled along the nightstand and slipped behind it, hoping they’d go do their exploring of the room while he found his way to an exit and got the hell out of dodge.

He shouldn’t have come back to the room. Oscar’s curiosity had drawn him back like a moth to flame. He’d already wrapped up a handful of salt from one of the piles left by the human in a scrap of cloth. Salt was good for all kinds of things, and they’d just left it lying around like weirdos.

September 29th excerpt:

His heart was pounding a frantic beat. Oscar’s entrance to the walls was nowhere near the dresser. He’d aimed to just wait until the human crashed into bed, and no worries would occur. He could still do that, but now Oscar had the knowledge that two poor souls were captured by that human.

And … it seemed they were trained  or something. They’d needed permission to get out of the duffel bag. That they were carried around in a bag like that in the first place made Oscar feel a little sick. What if they’d been jostled around? What if they fell out? Would the human care?

It might have gotten eaten (*shakes fist at tumblr*), though if it was sent in as a prompt it might not have been answered because I’m so buried under life I don’t have the energy for prompts unless I’m hella inspired.

We definitely have more ideas for BT, like the Oscar shorts that come out from time to time. He’s not been forgotten! For myself, I’m not sure if I’ll be doing anything more with the young bros in BT (though there’s lots planned with the young bros in BU), but there will be stories from their adulthood.

Sam would try and hide nightmares like that from Dean as much as he could. He won’t want his older brother to feel bad just because he’s so big. A good nightmare deterrent will be spending the night sleeping in a pocket, very warm and safe, though Dean won’t willingly let him the first time, thinking of all the things that could go wrong (like him rolling over), and he’ll probably wake up one morning with Sam all curled up in there after a nightmare.
