November 6th excerpt:

With the map spread out on the seat next to the teenager, Dean could survey their path from above with a bird’s eye view, but there was something about being down, on the map, that always appealed to him. Once he finished off his last bite, he took the initiative to slide down Jacob’s sleeve to join in on the planning.

Letting go of Jacob’s sleeve a few inches from the ground, Dean landed with a thump, rolling to catch his balance and coming out of the roll to land on both feet. The motion was as agile as any cat landing on their feet, graceful for a man of less than four inches. The only thing that ruined the move was a slight stumble as he skid to a stop, the paper unexpectedly wrinkling under his boots from the added weight.

November 5th excerpt:

“Lucky I’m such a morning person,” Jacob joked. “We could get on the road for a bit before grabbing some breakfast. Since nowhere will be open yet.” He lowered his hand to the desk for Dean so he could at least get himself ready for the trip.

“And then onwards! To the next hunt!” Dean boasted loudly as he slid off Jacob’s hand.

November 4th excerpt:

Jacob’s hand reached for the nightstand, ready to switch off the alarm. Then, his mind finally caught up enough to remember I didn’t set an alarm. He ended up diverting his reach before he could bowl Dean over, resting his fingers at the edge of the nightstand instead. He propped himself up enough to send the tiny guy a bewildered look, catching up to why he was on the nightstand and not right next to his head like he’d thought.

“Dude,” he mumbled, giving Dean as much exasperation as he could. “What the shit.”

October 1st excerpt:

As Sam was finishing with his hair, Dean packed the last of their supplies. He replaced the lid of the ceramic pot he’d found behind a dresser a few months back, covering up the dry food supplies they’d gathered to keep it fresh, and keep any bugs away from it. They would return here again, and if the food was still good, they would use it for meals. If not, they’d take it and dispose of it. It was best to avoid wasting what they took from the human side of the household.

With their place packed up and cleaned, they left it behind once more.

September 30th excerpt:

Shadowed in the night, a woman was standing directly behind him. Small, petite, her short brown hair pushed behind her ears to show off sharp blue eyes, she stood no higher than Jacob’s chest. Black fabric was swathed around her arms, keeping them warm from the coming chill in folds of darkness.

“I know you,” she said, taking a step forward. “You’re with the Winchester boys.”

Oh, oh! Is it Regarding Jacob?

You nailed it on the head! #rj stands for Regarding Jacob, and these boys are about to have more than they can handle with Jacob going the way of Dean in that similar episode…

The woman merely cocked her head, emotionless as she withdrew her hand. Those cold blue eyes never flickered. “Looks like you need a lesson on who’s really in charge here,” she said calmly. “It was never Dean, bless his stubborn heart. He’s tried so many times to throw himself in my way. It’s never worked out for him.”

Muttering a few obscure words under her breath, the woman sketched an arcane symbol in the air. The blue in her eyes grew stronger and more forceful, chasing the shadows around them away. “What’s a few memories between friends?” she asked rhetorically, then plunged her hand through the air, a thumb planting on Jacob’s forehead. A spark of purple light spread from her thumb to his eyes.

The enchantment rippled from her words to his mind, taking seed and planting itself. As she withdrew her touch and stepped back, shadows rushing from the bushes to engulf her silhouette, all that could be seen as the magic took effect on Jacob was a purple reflection in his eyes, and even that was quenched.

August 24th excerpt:

Sam yawned, finally having pulled himself up from the corner of the pocket. “It’ll be nice to hit the sack,” he said tiredly. “I’m not used to this yet.”

“We’ve been hunting for ages, Sammy!”

Sam shoved back at Dean. “I’m used to sleeping during the day,” he protested, ears flaming.

July 11th excerpt:

Antsy, Sam couldn’t quite keep his focus. He bounced on his heels in the pocket, making it shake around Dean, who clung to the side with a death glare sent his way.

“C’mon, hurry up,” Sam urged them. “Something feels… off.”

July 10th excerpt:

“That guy’s throwing back a few shots to drown his sorrows. I think you hurt his feelings.”

“He’s in the right place then,” Sam commented wryly, looking up at Jacob.

“With less money to spend on them,” Dean said with a glint in his eye, maliciously grinning as he glanced in the bar’s direction.

Sam rubbed his neck with a shrug. “I’m sure he’ll get over it.”

July 9th excerpt:

“Great job in there,” Dean enthused. “Now we can actually put that nest egg to use and stop worrying about sending Jacob into a bar to try and bluff his way to winnings. He’s the one more likely to get played.”

Sam rolled his eyes and elbowed Dean in the side. “He tries,” he defended. “It’s not his fault he’s kind of… wholesome.”
