On Sam’s Knack…

anonymous  asked:

if Sam is hiding in the pocket, fully hidden and unnoticed, but Dean is chatting with another human, will the knack be mildly active due to the proximity or turned off completely?

Sam will, but only under certain conditions!

The knack is wholly psychic, so it operates without him actually needing to be seen. If someone glances at Dean’s pocket, he’ll feel a slight tingle and know to stay still. If someone actually knows he’s there, it’ll grow much stronger. The strength of the alert he gets is related to if someone has actually seen him and if they mean him any harm.

As it is, Sam will most likely elbow Dean to let him know whenever that happens. This way Dean can be sure to keep their attention off his pocket, or leave the situation if they’ve figured him out.

Story appreciation and questions!

Anonymous asked:

First of all, I absolutely LOVE all the stories you’ve come up with in the multiple universes you guys have! I am addicted to them and read and reread them almost daily they’re that written! Brothers Apart, Brothers Together and Brothers Consulted are my top favorite universes, but all of them are so good and intriguing that I can’t help but love your interpretation of events and the world, scenarios and characters you guys have come up with!

I actually have 2 questions actually.

In Brothers Consulted, will we ever meet Moira’s biological (and Dean and Sam’s adoptive) parents at any point? Would be awesome to meet the ones who took in the brothers after the rough relocation they went through.

And also, in the Brothers Kept universe, if a full-sized Dean and/or Sam were to run into a borrower (like say, Oscar for example, but any borrower like Walt, Kara, etc.), do you think they would still view them as people, given that borrowers were made public long before they were even born, and worse, turned into pets? I mean, given that they were made known and are largely harmless, I don’t think they’d register on a hunter’s radar as threats, but maybe they’d either be forced to realize the little people were people or just pay them less mind?

Thank you so much! It’s great to hear that you’re enjoying the worlds we’ve created, and you can bet we’ll keep creating!

For the first question, there are no current plans with Moira’s parents. They live a few flats down, and don’t often venture to visit their wayward adopted sons. The bros chose to live in a flat that all the rumors said was dangerous, against everyone’s advice, it’s not a place that many people would come to visit.

Moira, of course, is an exception, and she now knows that the humans are friendly, so she’ll certainly be back.

As for the rest of Moira’s family, one of her ancestors plays a direct and important part in the story.

Now, for Brothers Kept, before the brothers were cursed and subjected to live as borrowers, they wouldn’t have treated them badly. Borrowers had been around as pets since at least the 50′s. Sam was usually fascinated if they caught sight of any, but borrowers are also quite rare in America compared to London, because the borrower populations are very sparse in comparison. Dean mostly ignored them, focusing on his training and keeping Sam safe.

Winning story!

And the winning story, with 25 out of the possible 100 votes (it was a very close poll!), is…

A World of Secrets!

After being attacked, Sam wakes up in a dark place, surrounded by strangers. He escapes them only to find that his life won’t be going back to normal any time soon…

This marks the beginning of a new AU, Brothers Unexpected! Where Sam is separated from Dean, but not from humanity, despite his new curse.

Sneak peek:

The blue-eyed man brushed Sam’s messy hair back. “My name’s Walt, and this is Mallory,” he introduced, his voice remaining level. “A few days ago, you and your brother got attacked. Do you remember that?”

Sam nodded mutely.

“That lady… the w-itch…” Walt was uncertain as he enunciated the word as though he’d never said it before. “She hit you with something. Some… spell. After it was cast, your brother couldn’t see you.”

Walt swallowed thickly. “We got you out before you got hurt more… but Sam… your family. They’re gone. The witch ran and they chased her.”

Sam’s eyes started to spill over. “N…no,” he mumbled. “Dean wouldn’t leave me. They wouldn’t abandon me!” By the end, he was shouting, his thin voice going up an octave in his panic. The memories in his mind clamored for attention. They overlapped and caused his breath to hitch.

Both Walt and Mallory flinched at the sound of his shout, eyes nervously flashing to their ceiling. Mallory put a delicate hand on Sam’s shoulder. “Sam, they never wanted to,” she said in her lyrical voice. “They thought the witch killed you and just wanted to…” She trailed off, her eyebrows furrowing uncertainly.

“She cursed you, Sam,” Walt cut in gruffly. “Everyone you knew is a giant. That’s why they didn’t see you and that’s why we had to get you out of there. They’re dangerous.”

A silence stretched out between them. Sam’s hand started to shake, more of the cup crumpling inwards as a tear slid down his cheek. “G-giants?” he asked timidly.

Something in his mind clicked before Walt could get out another word. “No! ” Sam stated firmly. “Dean’s not… Dean would never…” His words jumbled and he started to hyperventilate.

Sam shoved the covers off. His water splashed out of the deformed cup. Droplets of water spilled onto the wooden flooring.

Hot. He was too hot.

The world was too cold but he was too hot.

Walt just barely managed to catch the metal cup as it fell, but it was too late.

Sam stumbled out of the bed… nest… fabric. He almost fell over to dodge a well-meaning grab from Mallory, her face covered with sympathy. Sam squirmed between the two people that had saved his life, his desperation giving him energy to escape.

He needed to go. Dean was out there, he had to be.

Sam just had to find him.

Shoving the fabric draped over the doorframe, Sam ignored the cries of alarm that came from his former room. His eyes darted around the new room, and he quailed at the sight of a penny casually kicked against the side of the wall.

It was large enough to serve as a dinner plate.

No, they’re making it up. They’re lying, they have to be!

As soon as he saw another doorframe, Sam ran for it. He had to get out before they grabbed him and put him back in bed. There might not be another chance for escape. Dean always told him to watch out for himself. A hand brushed reflexively against the knife tucked away in his soft tan jacket and Sam prayed he never had to use it.

There was a block in front of the door. It was heavy, but Sam shoved it to the side. The adrenaline filling him made his hands shaky, but it gave him energy he could draw on. He needed to get away, he needed to escape.

A dark passageway arched overhead. The panic that Sam was drowning in refused to let him really see it. He couldn’t make out the cobwebs that lurked in the unreachable corners. The nails in the wooden walls were bigger than his hand but his eyes just brushed over them. He needed to run.

And so he ran.

Wind whipped Sam’s hair into a frenzy. In the distance, the sound of boots came. He was being followed. Panic lent speed to his strides, and Sam pushed himself like he’d never pushed himself before. It was a race. He needed to find a way out of this dark world before that Walt could catch him. It was as simple as that.

Sam’s eyes flashed from side to side as he searched for a way out. The dark walls were dusty, but footprints could be made out in the thick dust. Sam set himself to following them, driven by desperation. He was only ten, and his legs weren’t as long as Walt’s. If it took him too long to find help, he’d lose the race.

“Sam! Wait up, please! You don’t understand!”

Sam pushed the voice out of his mind and ran even faster, if that was possible. A wood splinter jutted out, nearly tripping the young kid up, but he only stumbled, scraping one hand against the ground. The skin was raw and red as he forced himself to run again.

He spotted a light in the distance, and a tiny bubble of hope filled his chest.

A way out.

There was another shout, but Sam didn’t even hear it this time. The wall gave way to an opening where the light was, and Sam felt triumph fill his chest as it turned out to be warm motel room light. He was safe. He could just walk out the door and go search for…

Any thought he had in mind trailed off as Sam skid to a halt.

Something was more than wrong. The room was distorted, the beds and walls arching up over his head by what seemed like miles. He’d run right past the gigantic nightstand, thinking it was just another hallway, leaving him exposed in the center of the floor.

Sam froze, his entire body filling with fear as he realized that Walt may have been telling him the truth.

Pool Time

anonymous asked:

Now that summer is here, would BA Sam and Dean ever want to go swimming in a pool (with no one else there, of course)? I can imagine that’d be a bit scary for Sam but with Dean there it could be fun!

The moment Dean finds out that Sam can’t really swim (he hasn’t had a chance to practice since he was 10…), he’ll insist on starting small… like a sink. That way his little brother doesn’t go sinking to the bottom of the pool the second he gets in.

If they go swimming in a pool, they just have to make sure no one else is around to see the surprise borrower guest!

Destiel question

jayadawnyvonne asked:

An idea/question Do u ship destiel ? Because what if tiny dean/ or big dean finds a smol cass in the walls with sam ?? Instead of cass being an angel ?

Well, personally I don’t really ship any of the major ships on Supernatural, and I tend to avoid posts on them for the most part. You won’t see any ships featured directly in the Brothers Apart series, but of course feel free to interpret the characters however you choose.

WITH THAT SAID, I do know this amazing little fic where Castiel lives in the walls of a motel with his family and encounters the Winchesters… I highly recommend it! It’s angsty and fluffy, and one of my favorite g/t fics that I discovered on Archive of Our Own.

Go check out Little Angels by besully (Briar_Elwood)

Six-inch tall Castiel lives his life collecting trinkets from the residents of Paradise Motel, quietly sneaking in and out, never being seen. One morning he’s almost seen by two new residents: Sam and Dean Winchester who are checking out a supposed haunting at the motel. Turns out, they’re not really after a ghost….

Castiel even has his wings!

Size Difference in Relationships

anonymous asked:

hi I’ve been a big fan of yours ever since I read your stories while you were still in the midst of posting Taken though it’s been more on the stories side and it’s only recently I’ve started reading through everything here so I don’t know if you’ve answered this before, but would you ever write a story where a borrower and a human are in a relationship? could be platonic romance or whatever you feel like but I’m just wondering

It’s so good to hear from you! Good luck going through our tumblr– it’s gotten a bit messy, but there’s a looooooot of stuff here for future stories/snippets/sneak peeks, along with tons of musing and prompts/asks. And all the wonderful arts :3 Not to mention the asks we get in, which are tons of fun answering.

As for relationships. Admittedly, all three writers for the BA multiverse are ace, so we don’t often delve too far in. That said, there are a few relationships that will be shown prominently in the story, and at least one or two will happen with the two people at different sizes!

Stan and Nate are one of our major couples, and being soulmates, they always tend to find their way to each other in the end. Yet with a few storylines we have plotted out, they don’t start or end up at the same size all the time!

Nate’s not going to let a little thing like size keep him from stealing a kiss!

Artwork by @ghostquack

As for same-size relationships, Dean’s had a fling in Brothers Lost with a borrower he encountered on a hunt, and in the last season of Brothers Apart, Sam will also be finding himself some love!

There’s plenty to look forward to 😉

Future Things in BC

anonymous  asked:

Will Sam ever meet Mycroft in BC?

It’s not going to be for a long, long time, but yes! We do have plans where Sam will also have the chance to meet Mycroft!

Stan Baker is the agent that they’re going to be in contact with most often, and will be doing the legwork when it comes to any jobs Mycroft has, but we will see Mycroft himself returning in the future. We have quite a bit of the story for BC plotted out, the main task now is actually getting it written down and edited up for posting. Things are getting easier now that @borrowedtimeandspace has graduated college, we’re hoping to hop back into this.

It’s quite fun to put these characters from Supernatural and Sherlock in the same rooms with each other, we’re never quite sure exactly how they’ll react!

Brothers Saved: TV Time

Last short story for the moment!

Brothers Saved is far from over, so be sure to stay tuned for this AU! It has stories planned with both @neonthewrite and @borrowedtimeandspace, and I’ve slowly been working through their future relationship with each other and John (you can find a quick peek of that here).

So there’s plenty more coming! In the meantime, I’m still looking for prompts for this story, so feel free to send them in!

Dean had grown somewhat adjusted to the heights he saw constantly from Sam’s hands, but he felt he might never adjust to being so easily picked up and moved around by his younger brother.

When Sam stood, he had Dean standing in one hand and the other hand was occupied by the flashlight they had used to attempt to probe the inside of the walls with. Unfortunately, the entrance to the walls was too small for the flashlight or Sam to fit, and Dean could only make out the details to the edge of the area the light filled. Beyond that was solid darkness, where anything could be lurking.

Though he had a silver knife and his colt, Dean didn’t want to chance getting attacked by any rats or pests in the walls while he was unprepared, and Sam was already anxious about the entire idea of Dean exploring out of sight, so he had decided to pass up the chance and instead stick with Sam to watch some cartoons while they waited around the house.

John and Bobby were out again, but their trips to try and track the witch down grew shorter and shorter as time went on. The trail had grown cold and no new evidence had been found.

It was as though, after laying her curse on Dean and being thwarted from doing the same to Sam, she had given up her attack on the Winchesters and vanished into the wind.

From the last update they’d received, Bobby would be returning that night. He had other cases to deal with, and other hunters clamoring for help with research. Due to Dean’s delicate situation, Bobby had essentially closed for business with the others temporarily, not wanting to chance the tiny teenager being mistaken by a hunter as a threat and…

Dean shut down that line of thought. It wasn’t going to happen, so he shouldn’t dwell on it.

With everything on his mind, Dean was almost able to ignore the fact that Sam had to go down the stairs to get to the room with the TV. Dean was solidly convinced that anyone would be wary of the way the ground rushed up at them while the ten-year-old kid went downstairs. At only a few inches tall, Dean ended up clinging to Sam’s nearby thumb for balance and security. As usual, Sam said nothing about it and merely curled it around Dean’s waist for a better grip.

Adjustments like this were almost becoming second nature.

When they arrived downstairs, Sam stuck the flashlight on the coffee table and grabbed the remote instead. As he clicked the TV on, he flopped down onto the couch and kicked up his feet.

Dean didn’t much expect when the surface he was on went sideways. Sam’s grip remained secure throughout the transition, but Dean’s stomach flipped and he clung tight.

When everything fell still, Sam gently uncoiled his hand from around Dean, finding his brother ghost white and attached to his thumb. Lifting his hand to try and dissuade Dean from hanging on, Sam looked at him in concern. “You okay?”

When Dean didn’t answer, Sam had to bring his second hand over and gently wind a finger under Dean’s arms and carefully pry him off. When the finger he was gripping vanished from between his hands, Dean blinked rapidly, coming back to himself with a gasp when he realized he’d been holding his breath.

“What was that?! ” Dean burst out indignantly.

Sam shrugged, his shoulders awkwardly situated against the couch cushion. “Just getting ready for the show.”

Dean jabbed a finger at Sam. “Next time you want to pull something like that, give me some warning. Geeze.”

With that, Dean collapsed backwards, laying down and staring up at the ceiling far over his head. Sam eyed him for a few seconds to make sure no further outbursts were incoming, then returned his attention to the TV and began to flip through channels to search out the cartoons that usually aired this late in the afternoon.

Considering how shaken Dean was from Sam’s quick drop to the couch, it was understandable that it took him several minutes to realize the surface he was on wasn’t flat, or solid the way the coffee table would have been. In fact, it was remarkably comfortable, and heated.

When Dean realized it was also moving, he jolted to his feet in shock and stumbled to see where he was.

Distracted from the show by Dean’s sudden movements, Sam blinked at him in confusion. “Show’s on,” he reminded Dean, gesturing at the TV.

“The show’s on?” Dean repeated in disbelief. “The show’s on.” He stomped a foot into Sam’s chest, the place he’d been casually deposited minutes before. “Whatever happened to personal space, dude?”

Sam grinned at that, hardly paying attention now that he knew why Dean was indignant. “Thought you’d like to be somewhere we can talk,” he pointed out tiredly, glancing between Dean and the TV set. The show was obviously drawing at his attention more. “Can’t hear you on the coffee table.”

“Yeah… well…” Dean didn’t have a ready comeback for that. He had to settle with “Next time, warn me before you just drop me here!”

Sam poked Dean in the side. “The good part’s coming on,” he reminded Dean. “You don’t want to miss it.”

Dean sent Sam a look, but couldn’t help glancing back at the TV. Sam wasn’t the only one who enjoyed a good episode of Sonic, even if Dean rarely admitted it.

“Fine,” Dean said in a huff, sitting down in aggravation. “Just because I can’t have you using any more excuses for not listening.”

Sam smiled, relaxing into the couch. He wouldn’t admit it out loud to Dean, considering the situation his older brother was in, but it was nice to have the couch to himself, with plenty of room to stretch.

“Whatever you say, Dean.”
