August 31st excerpt:

“There’s a motel in town,” Jacob said, remembering. “I can just grab a room there for tonight, we’ll meet there when you roll in and then come out to the woods, sound like a plan?”

“Sounds like a plan,” Dean confirmed. “Send a text when you’ve got a room, we’ll set up our base of operations there in case we’re around for longer than a few days.”

“Since you’re so great at camping,” Sam said under his breath with a grin, getting Dean to nudge him with one of the fingers spaced around where he crouched. Raising his voice, Sam finished off the call. “Bowman, don’t worry, we’ll be there soon and we’ll figure this out. Just hang on.”

August 29th excerpt:

Jacob glanced over the information printed on the card while he dug his cell phone from his pocket. On any other day, he might have joked about the dark green ink Bowman had used to cross out the name John Bonham printed on the card and scripted in Dean and Sam Winchester instead.

August 28th excerpt:

He glanced back to Bowman, who waited on his palm. “Y’know, Bowman, I think the more help we can bring in, the better,” he admitted.

Bowman perked up, and Jacob saw understanding in those green eyes. Bowman might not know how a lot of “human stuff” worked, but he was a smart little guy. “Dean and Sam,” he said.

Jacob nodded. “Dean and Sam,” he agreed. “I’m betting they can weigh in on this, too.”

This was a tricky one, not gonna lie, anon! Not for the switcheroo or anything, but just because we haven’t done something like that yet. As it is, Jacob’s timeline is already pushed back a bit to line up with the Winchesters, so it’s not like we couldn’t move him back a bit more to be older than Sammy.

In that case, and assuming we’re talking about a Brothers Adopted scenario with them both tinified, Jacob would be a very patient and chill older brother figure for little Sammy. I can see him quietly listening while Sam goes on and on about what worries him, asking questions, and trying to make sense of the new situation he’s found himself in. Jacob would understand and he’d be a good source of protective hugs when things got overwhelming for the kiddo.

The thing about Jacob is he’s pretty much always a teddy. The difference this time is he’d be older, and the older he gets, the better he is at maintaining his calm. He’d be the most chill.

Unless it called for it. If Sam got captured by a certain giant older brother, that giant might find a little Jacob charging in to try to get him back. We can only hope they’d sort things out before Jacob ended up sticking his nail-sword through Dean’s hand.

This time, the door didn’t come into being in its regular spot.

The room shifted, barely noticed by the many different patrons of the ever-growing Lounge. And now, it was literally growing.

When the shift finished, there was another door, this one placed further from the bar than the others, and off a sheer cliff that the nearby Dean shied away from on his way for a refill.

The door opened, and in strolled the next patron.

Dean ground to a halt, his eyes going wide.

Not for over a decade had he seen a chair his size.

Sam was in his hand, much like the many other Sams of the bar. The main difference between this Sam and the others… he was human sized.

And Dean was a giant.

“You have got to be shitting me!” came one of the voices from the tiny bar placed at around Dean’s chest height.

One of the multiple Dean’s at the bar (the original, the one that came first to the room to meet his teenage self), was standing a few feet back from the edge, his hands on his hips and a supremely annoyed look on his face.

The new entrants to the bar snapped their heads to the side in time when another voice, a much fainter voice cut through the air. The source was a barely visible speck on one of the tables.

“See how you like it, asshat!”

Dean tentatively came forward, holding his hand level with the floor so Sam could step down. He could barely believe his eyes. There was a nearly microscopic version of himself standing there, and Sam spotted a small version of himself nearby.

The regular Dean scowled. “Watch it, shortstop!” he called threateningly to the smallest Dean there. “Or it’ll be time for a pool rematch!”

Over by the arcade, the teenager’s eyes were wide, holding Sam close. “Maybe we should sit this one out,” he said faintly, unable to tear his eyes away from a giant older counterpart. The regular sized one was a handful enough.

Sam patted his thumb. “But we gotta check them out!” he insisted. “I’m normal sized over there!”

And of course there was no way for Dean to say no to his little brother when he got that yearning in his eyes. He swallowed nervously before wandering away from their safe corner, keeping a distance from the edge.

The bartender waved the new pair on. “Drinks on the house boys! We’ve got all sizes here!”

In Brothers Divided, Dean never woke up and found Sam trying to break Jacob out of the vase (Brothers Adopted early storyline). ‘Cause of that, they can’t get Jacob out, Sam is stuck between a rock and a hard place, and finds himself losing his adopted younger brother to the giant that trapped him.

“It’s so hot!

Sam looked up from where he was bent over a book, avidly reading his assigned summer lessons (only assigned because he’d asked the teacher for work to do over the summer). A slight smirk hit his face when he saw where Dean was, sprawled out on the most shadowed area of the table in an attempt to soak up what he could of the cool surface, avoiding the sun like he lived all his life in a cave.

“It’s summer,” Sam pointed out helpfully, nudging Dean in the side with a pencil. “In South Dakota.”

Dean groaned, comically loud as he tried to squirm away from the intruding eraser. “Doesn’t mean Bobby can’t invest in some air conditioning for once in his life!” he complained, pushing himself up so he was sitting. It made it easier to bat at the pencil.

Sam grinned, both for the complaints and for Dean’s relatively mellow reaction to the poke. Just a few weeks ago, his older brother, shrank by a curse to under four inches tall, had bolted from him, unable to cope with the sheer size of everything around him. Now, things were strained, especially between Dean and John, but between the brothers life was settling back down to normal.

“We’ve never had AC here before,” he reminded Dean. “And just last night you were complaining about how cold it was!”

Dean huffed in aggravation. “It was cold last night!” he insisted mulishly. “But now it’s so hot I can barely breathe in here.” He kicked out both legs, spreading himself out on the table again.

Sam frowned as Dean started ignoring him once more. As strange as it was to hear his cursed brother complain about the heat instead of a chill when there was none, Sam could understand it. Dean’s curse had hit while he was wearing his regular jeans and outfit. He didn’t have any shorts to strip down into. He could walk around in boxers, but being so vulnerable like that chafed at Dean. Small was bad enough, he would refuse to make himself more vulnerable.

“Be right back,” Sam said distractedly, pushing himself up from the table.

Dean was nearly a puddle on the table again, barely raising his hand off the surface to attempt a wave before flopping it back down. Sam smiled fondly at that, then left the room. He had a plan.

Ten minutes and three closet raids later, Sam was finally able to call his plan a success.

It wasn’t exactly what Dean was pining after, but considering that Sam, a ten-year-old kid with no current access to transportation or an adult, had to come up with it, he’d need to deal.

“Here we are!” Sam declared, plunking down a fan a few inches away from Dean and then setting up a second, larger fan for himself. He gathered up work and put that on the counter out of the way, and went searching for an outlet.

Dean sat up in a hurry at all the earthquakes, staring wide-eyed at what Sam had come up with. A small grin snuck its way onto his face.

“Where did you find those?” he asked, scrambling to his feet to look over the small fan that was nearly his size.

Sam’s head popped into view from the floor. “Bobby’s got all kinds of stuff like that hidden away in his cupboards,” he told Dean smugly. “Did you think I just sat around all day when you were playing around with the cars outside?”

Dean shook his head, bemused. “Figured you just read all day,” he responded.

Sam found an outlet, pulling out a plug for one of the lamps and taking over both sides with the fans. The one next to Dean sputtered to life, creating a cool breeze that ruffled his hair.

He barely noticed Sam returning to turn on his own fan, too busy positioning himself blissfully in front of the cool air. This new size might suck at times, but at least his little brother was just as reliable as he’d always been before.

“This is your best plan yet,” Dean said, stretching his arms up to get as much air as possible.

Yep, Dean will certainly got to school with Sam!

He might not at first, especially since Sam was a few years behind him in classes. John will want to keep Dean safe until they can get him cured, away from other grabby kids.

As Sam grows up and it starts to look bleak for Dean’s future as a regular-sized guy, Sam will convince him to come to school and keep his mind occupied instead of staying in the room and reading the same book on breaking curses. It’ll be healthier for Dean, and as Sam hits his growth spurt and no longer gets picked on by bullies (something he’ll avoid mentioning to Dean until Dean sees him with a black eye), he’ll be able to bring Dean safely with him.

Dean will complain, naturally. Still stuck with schoolwork.

COM: The Dragon Sleeps Tonight (Part 2)

( First part )

Commission for @wolfie180g!

A second part to The Dragon Sleeps Tonight was requested, for the same 1200 words and bringing in dragon Dean’s Sam along with Castiel, shenanigans ensue.

For being a great customer twice now, I tossed in a few more words, bringing this chapter up to 1600, and tried to finish the story, but wow is it hard to write an entire story in 2.4k words. I lack this skill.

The Brothers Apart Sam and Dean are @nightmares06‘s, dragon Dean belongs to @wolfie180g, and the original Sam and Dean Winchester belong to the CW/Erick Kripke!

“How the hell do you misplace a fifty-foot dragon?!

Stalking angrily through the woods, trying to not think about them being lost, it wasn’t until Sam heard a gravelly “Sam…” from behind that he realized he’d spoken his thoughts out loud.

Whirling around, a keen blue-eyed gaze met his frustrated hazels. “Dean will be fine,” Cas said steadily. “He can handle himself alone for an hour. If there was anyone suspicious in the forest, Bobby and Balth would call us.”

Sam took a deep breath. Exhaled. “Dream team, those two,” he muttered, but couldn’t hide a slight smirk. “I just… hate leaving him alone so long.”

“He won’t even know we were gone,” Cas assured, resuming his walk and pushing past Sam to take the lead. “If anyone can handle himself, it’s the full-grown dragon.”

Sam huffed, shifting the bags full of meat in his arms and following behind.

“Besides,” Cas continued, “we’ll all feel better when Dean’s been fed without alerting everyone in the forest that there’s a hungry dragon about.”

It would work good if he manages to hit weak spots, like eyes. He’s got good enough aim where he could turn it to their advantage. Sam blinding the enemy and Dean taking them down.

Depending on who they’re using this against, they could find a lot of metal scrap for Sam to shoot. XD Painful.
