May 3rd excerpt:

Jacob struggled then, while they turned away from his home. He couldn’t even see it, with the way his captor held him so close to his chest. Jacob breathed quickly and shoved at the index finger nearest him to no effect. “S-somebody help me! ” he cried out, even knowing his voice was much too quiet for someone to hear. He was the easiest kidnapping victim anyone could have found.

A glance downward showed just how quickly he was being whisked away. He looked straight up, and got a view of the underside of the man’s jaw. “Take me back, man, please! W-we can work something out, just don’t do this.”

April 7th excerpt:

Jacob looked back up at his captor in time to see his gaze turn to the window. Jacob glanced at it too, and noted how the world outside was dimming, thanks to the maturing evening. More importantly, it was on the first floor, and anyone (anyone with enough height on their side) would be able to open it and hop out with ease.

Jacob looked back up at the man who had him suspended over the ground in a hand, and tried to make his voice as commanding as possible. “Don’t even think about it!”

April 6th excerpt:

A distant click at the front door, this time far more solid than the tentative sound of a lockpick, reached his ears. A smile of relief ghosted across Jacob’s face. His mom was home.

April 5th excerpt:

Jacob pushed a shaky hand against the fingertip messing with him, while the other brushed back through his bedraggled hair. His glare was tempered by the worry on his face when he looked up at the guy again. There was nothing familiar about the man, and nothing comforting in the fascinated gleam in those green eyes.

At least if he focused on that billboard-sized, smirking face, he didn’t have to think too hard about how high up he was from the ground. “W-what do you want?!” he demanded, voice still shaky with nerves.

April 4th excerpt:

In Jacob’s memory, very little could top the fearsome sight of a roadblock dropping out of the sky and hiding his goal from view. He almost didn’t scramble to a stop in time to avoid crashing right into the palm of a giant hand, one that came out of nowhere to keep him away from safety. He shuddered in fear even as it moved towards him and forced him to stumble backwards.

April 3rd excerpt:

Jacob sidled towards one of the legs of the dresser. If he could reach it before the search angled his way, he might be able to hide unnoticed. He was extra small. It had to count for something in this terrifying game of hide and seek.

April 2nd excerpt:

If there was one thing he knew in all his time hunting, it was that freak medical conditions were almost always supernatural in origin.

Which brought the young twenty-two year old hunter here, to this unassuming room in an unassuming house.

March 14th excerpt:

A deep, gruff voice resounded around the room. “Come out, come out, wherever you are!” echoed straight through Jacob, giving off an oddly-playful vibe. Of course, playful for the stranger could mean a whole lot of trouble for Jacob, considering the sheer difference in their sizes.

The boots stepped farther into the room, and the door swung shut, trapping Jacob in with a stranger that seemed to know he was there.

March 13th excerpt:

The intruder shut the door to the house lightly behind himself, a quiet click echoing through the still home as the latch shut. Darkness stretched around him, only broken in a few places by the scattered rays of the setting sun, splitting through the shadows like a shining beacon of sunset.

March 12th excerpt:

Seeing no options on top of the bed, Jacob edged toward the side. Peering over the side was like looking down into a canyon. He’d only climbed down the blankets to the floor once before, and that was with someone nearby to catch him in case he slipped.

There was a resounding click followed by the ominous echo of a door creaking open. Jacob didn’t have any time.

He started a downward climb. It was tough, and clumsy for someone who didn’t practice climbing much at all, but his fingers fit in the weave of the blanket hanging over the side of the bed. It was like climbing down a huge, thick net.
