Dean won’t trust Sam so easily but he also won’t know immediately that this is his Sam.

( Wasn’t totally sure which AU this was for, but either way!! )

Dean’s always had his problems with being suspicious. I think if Sam does it right, he’ll be able to worm his way right through any chink in Dean’s armor, and in the BA stories, Dean has plenty of chinks. Poor scarred bby, separated from his little brother so long ago.

October 19th excerpt:

Jacob was fascinated, by Sam’s words and by the fact that he was talking to someone who could use a laptop as a bench. That never got old, the size disparity between him and the extra-small folk he’d met. A lot of people came up to his chest and complained about his size. They had no idea what he looked like to someone like Sam.

Yet there he was, not hiding away. Jacob was grateful for trust, however tenuous.

October 4th excerpt:

“No harm done, man,” Jacob assured him with an encouraging smile. “Dean’s beauty sleep only goes so far anyway.” His grin widened when the little guy looked up at him with wide eyes, looking almost surprised that Jacob would tease a human so boldly. He supposed, in retrospect, it was pretty brave of him, considering the size difference. But Dean could be trusted, and Jacob wanted to make sure this stranger knew it.

Dean made a face at Jacob’s back by instinct before he could stop himself.

Well, he’d be more prepared for strange things happening to him. At ten, he was only just learning about the supernatural. If he was older, say between sixteen and twenty, he might not have had to live so long without Dean or John.

Based on how they lived, John probably got a cell phone as soon as he could, and would want to keep in touch with his sons. Sam might be able to slip away from Walt and call up his big brother, resulting in them reuniting much earlier on. Dean would have more experience with people the size of his finger, and Sam would trust his brother much faster.

If Sam was cursed as an adult, he’d be even more in tune with Dean. They’d tease each other constantly, and he might be stressed about any thoughts of being stuck that way, but he’d have Dean with him and that’s a much better prospect that being trapped on his own.

February 21st excerpt:

There was still a slight flush to his cheeks when he met Jacob’s warm brown eyes above. “Do you think I could stick around for a bit?” Sam asked hopefully, not wanting to go back in the walls sooner than he had to and waste the one chance he had at getting out. If Dean learned he’d slipped away while he was out, he’d end up under an even closer watch.

Jacob grinned, glad to hear that Sam actually wanted to hang out. Seeing the small hunter walk away from the desk, his shelter, to approach Jacob had been amazing on its own. Jacob’s shadow was overhead and he knew he loomed even when he tried not to, but Sam had come towards him anyway, putting trust in Jacob.
