June 10th excerpt:

The voice of Alex Trebek played over the speakers of the motel room TV. “This car was made famous in the film Knight Ri–

“What is the nineteen eighty-two Firebird!” Dean called out instantaneously.

Jacob flinched in his whole body, ducking his head and clamping his hands over his ears in surprise. Dean’s voice blurted from behind him, but also from under him. He was seated on the source.

He really should have seen that coming.

June 9th excerpt:

“So glad you could enjoy yourself,” Jacob muttered with a roll of his eyes, still resenting how he must have looked just now.

Dean’s grin came back full force at the attitude he was getting from a kid smaller than his fingers. It had been so long since he’s had someone around to joke with, the attitude was refreshing. Like he’d been missing it for years and had only just noticed the absence.

“Aww, c’mon, it wasn’t that bad, was it?” Dean asked lightly. “You know you had fun too. In between cursing me out, that is.” He gave Jacob a playful nudge against his shoulder with a thumb. “You’ll just have to find a way to get me back. That way we’ll be even.”

Brief hiatus at the beginning or not, 2017 has been a busy year for BA!

Now that things have calmed down a bit, does anyone have any suggestions for the blog?

(Don’t ask for more chapters a week, that’s off the table and purely dependent on work)

Also if anyone has any ideas for when we reach the 3rd anniversary of Brothers Apart later this year (October 24th), let us know!

June 8th excerpt:

Dean tossed his tie on the bed and shucked off his jacket. “Didja miss me?” he called out to the room at large, scanning for Jacob on the table.

Jacob only peered around the laptop once he was certain it was Dean. All human voices tended to rumble a little in the air, but the deep, gruff cadence was coming to be more and more familiar to the cursed teen. He poked his head out from his hiding place before stepping out fully.

Sam will still feel Jacob when he looks at him (and boy is that a weird feeling to get from a guy smaller than him, but Jacob remains uncursed), but since Jacob is both nonthreatening and means no harm, it’ll be very light, almost like a tickle. Even Dean will make a more solid impression on Sam when he glances over.

June 7th excerpt:

Dean smirked. “We’ll have to get you a sense of style, smalls. Maybe when I find some new clothes for you that fit. You’ll be a ladykiller in no time.” Dean couldn’t see, but Jacob rolled his eyes at the comment. He finished tightening his tie, glancing towards the mirror next to the bathroom. “There,” Dean said, satisfied. “Lookin’ sharp.”
