Nope, this time we didn’t shrink an OC!
Think you know the mystery story? Send in a guess!

Ah, man. Those shorts kill me as much as you when @neonthewrite shows them to me before posting! I might have cried at parts. I’m going to be adding them to the Brothers Together page on the BA tumblr, so there are easy links to find them, once I have some time to fiddle with websites.
Currenly, An Appreciation for the Sun is our only story between Birdie and Cas. Of course, if we ever get inspired, the sky’s the limit for all things spn and gt!

June 18th excerpt:
Sam could feel the ground shake under his boots and knew Jacob had him in his sights when the back of his neck burst into a tingle. He didn’t slow down, knowing if he hesitated it would be over. Compared to a human, he couldn’t cover enough ground to make a difference when it came down to it.
That was what Dean was waiting for.
“Ha! ” yelled Dean triumphantly as he darted out into the open. He was hidden away on the side of the dresser that was closer to the middle of the two beds, and gave him a shorter distance to cover. With any luck, he could serve as a distraction before he managed to reach cover to get Jacob away from Sam.

Ooo, good guess.
That’s not what this story will be, but we have mused about what it would be like to have a smol Jacob paired up with the canon brothers. Both of them so towering, Jacob so cheeky. This is a future possibility, but not happening just yet.
There really isn’t enough time in the world.

Once the story excerpts finish up for the current story (ws), we will be switching tracks for a bit!
Don’t worry, it’s still supernatural gt, but we’ve latched onto a new idea. So, for the first time in ages, we will be writing a non Brothers Apart story. All Supernatural, all Gt, totally different idea.
The story is a collab between @nightmares06 and @neonthewrite. The story excerpts will come from that story until it is finished being written.
If you want to try giving it a guess, feel free! I’m sure I can scrounge up a sneak peek if anyone guesses the premise!
Anything goes!

XD He would be so offended at first, and wouldn’t have any quarters on him if the kid was determined to swap teeth for money. What a gruff little guy to have as a tooth fairy, almost as silly as the tooth fairy Jesse Turner dreamt up. Hopefully the kid doesn’t want to see him fly, as he is not only flightless but has a phobia of heights. He’ll have to talk his way out of this one.
Dean, the smooooth talker.
This little story takes place when Oscar is around 14 years old. It is canon to the Brothers Together AU.
Oscar hadn’t had a very successful day. He managed to scrape together enough crumbs and bits of food for one meal, but that was no progress. His pantry would merely remain at the abysmally low levels it had been when he set out.
He shuffled quietly towards home, cloth shoes pushing dust around. He felt worn out to the core. Climbing furniture could wear on someone after doing it all evening and into the night. Especially someone who didn’t eat as much as they should, but in order to avoid running out, Oscar had to cut corners.
He always had to cut corners.
While he walked, Oscar was drawn inevitably into memories. Years ago, when he was just a young kid and his mom had only been gone a year, Oscar had been happy again. A bright spot in his bleak outlook may well have saved his life.
He’d had food and water and a place he could go for more warmth when even his pile of blankets was too cold. Oscar had more than one meal a day, of all kinds of foods, the memory of which still made his mouth water and his stomach pine for more sometimes. He’d had a glow of health in his cheeks and a shy smile in his eyes.
Oscar had had friends.
Now he was back to having no one. Oscar had stupidly wished for that month to last longer. He’d even let himself imagine going with them when they left. But a note written in quick handwriting, punctuated with a hasty SORRY OZ had brought him back to reality.
That had to be nearly half his lifetime ago. Oscar remembered them every day. He often wondered if they remembered him. It didn’t seem likely. They’d gone on to meet new people and make new connections.
Oscar was still there, clinging to the frayed edges of what was left of his connection. Just like he’d started to forget things about his mom, he’d begun to forget things about Sam and Dean. Their voices were gone. Their faces had become a little vague.
But he still remembered how happy he’d been to spend time with them. He’d even gone outside safely.
A familiar swell of music echoed into his passages from the room adjacent. Oscar felt his heart tighten and drifted to the edge of the wall. He leaned his ear against it and planted his hands on it as well. He knew that music anywhere. Someone must have left the TV on when they went to bed.
The music of Jurassic Park threw Oscar back six years. The taste of popcorn and soda, the rise and fall of the surface beneath him, the brightness of the enormous screen were crystal clear in his head. He blinked rapidly as he thought about that day in the park. He and Sam had explored the grass, outside, with the open sky above and the fresh air all around. Oscar was free of worry even knowing there were birds that could carry him away out there.
He wasn’t alone.
The music and the sound of people talking and dinosaurs grumbling reached his hearing, and Oscar sighed. He saw this movie in a big theater with his friends, though he’d had to cover his eyes for a lot of it. He remembered how Dean had placed a protective hand over Sam and Oscar.
After listening for a while, Oscar opened his eyes. He was back in the walls. It was dim and dusty and chilly. He hadn’t had anything to eat yet that day, and he didn’t have a promise of safety or more food tomorrow.
Oscar sighed and stepped away from the edge of the wall, making his way home once more.
June 17th excerpt:
Jacob sought his revenge by reaching over to nudge Dean in the side, getting the little hunter to jolt and put his arms up like he was raring for a brawl. Jacob drew his hand back well before any retaliation could be taken against it, but it was the only retribution he needed.

Sam has a fear of kids in BA and BL both, so he would be wary and staying as far back as he could. If Jacob was unconscious close by, he would try and revive him.
Dean’s really good with kids, even the larger ones, so he’d do his best to coax the kid. They need to get out of there, and the kid is the best one to do it. I have faith Dean will be able to get them to respond to him, and maybe go find Jacob.
June 16th excerpt:
Jacob was stretched out on the bed watching a TV channel showing sci-fi B movies. It was the best offering on the motel’s limited channel listing for the time being, and he let himself doze off once or twice while he watched.
He didn’t get up much. In truth, he was nervous to walk around.
He couldn’t help but think of Walt’s wary demeanor, the distrust in those tiny, hardened blue eyes. He could only imagine what kind of instincts were directing the man’s caution, and didn’t begrudge him that at all. Jacob was big, and he had proven himself dangerous to people like them when he first swept Dean up in a fist, and again when he grabbed Sam.
He’d learned a lot since then, but he’d never forget the fear on their tiny faces. Both brothers thought they might lose each other, all because of Jacob. Walt, as far as he had known, had lost his adopted sons, because of Jacob.
