May 9th excerpt:

No answer came, and Logan’s voice fell on dead, uncaring air. The car engine cut out, and in the silence he could make out the sound of footsteps making their way towards the door.

A door creaked open, and “Honey! I’m home!” echoed through the air.

Rumsfeld jumped to his feet and barreled out of the kitchen, vanishing from sight. Dean’s laugh, clearly recognizable after Logan’s short time with the hunter, followed the dog’s entrance. “Whoa! Sam can’t say ‘hi’ if you go knockin’ him off my shoulder. Gimme a sec.”

The
second Picture for “A Friend In Need”.  Poor Dean doesn’t have much room inside
a small cardboard box that is meant to transport small pets around.
It’s a bumpy ride that’s for sure! Especially when his new owners
fingers are seen pressing in on the box from above while he’s carted
around, not knowing where he’s headed.

A knack? I dunno… I’m not very athletic, so probably nothing physical. Maybe something to do with empathy? I can’t stand seeing people upset, so I tend to (at least try) to help them feel better. Maybe, if I can touch someone, I can have sway over their emotions, at least a little. Think Mantis from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2. That would be cool.

Mantis is the secret weapon of the group, it’s definitely a great ability to have!

May 8th excerpt:

“What are you planning?” Sam asked curiously as he made himself at home, pushing Dean’s collar up to block him from sight and leaning against his older brother’s neck. Just another day, living with his giant brother.

“Oh… I’m sure there’s something we can do with him.”

@nightmares06:

My knack would be empathy. It’s already strong enough that I get headaches in large groups of people, especially if those people are particularly miserable (retail, shopping, sometimes movie theaters or family gatherings. UGH the family gatherings), while if I’m in a large crowd like a convention, where it’s all high energy and excitement, I actually get energized by it, though later on I crash and burn and spend the rest of the day listless. I think I’d have a strong enough empathy to know just how someone else is feeling, and possibly help reflect my own emotions back at them if they need a boost.

@neonthewrite:

Since we are discussing knacks, I decided to put some thought into what my own would be. I agree with everyone saying it’s difficult! @.@

I decided to start from something that comes up a lot for me, and that is Anxiety. I overthink just about everything that happens to me, and I stress over situations that didn’t/won’t even happen (my cowriters can attest to this stressing nonsense). So I think my knack would be some kind of Prescience … the ability to see several possible futures just a few seconds forward, and the clarity to know which one is most likely to happen and act accordingly. How I wish I could actually do that!

@borrowedtimeandspace:

I had a tough time coming up with what my knack would be if I were a BAU borrower, and I still don’t really have the specifics down for the idea I did eventually think of. I’ve always been a pretty fast learner, I pick up hobbies and skills with my hands pretty easily most of the time, so maybe my borrower knack would be something to do with that: picking up on information really quickly and retaining it well.

Like, I could peek into a room and do a quick sweep with my eyes, then pop back into hiding and still be able to know where everything is in the section of the room I could see. Or if I had a tol buddy to help me, they could flip really quickly through a book in my line of sight and I’d know every single page by the end of it (though that kind of information dump would probably give me a headache and nosebleed).
