August 23rd excerpt:

Nate’s brow lifted a little to see the borrower emerge. He wasn’t sure what he’d been expecting, but almost everything about Dean caught him off-guard.

Dean was young, no older than Stan or Nate themselves, but not far behind them. He had a sharp look about him, from his spiked haircut to his boots. Even sported a leather jacket to complete the rugged ensemble.

August 21st excerpt:

Nate managed to get Juno to calm down a little by the time Stan caught up. Dark eyebrows frowned at Stan as Nathan looked him up and down.

“Where’s Dean?” he asked, wasting no time mincing words.

Stan pointed. “In the kitchen. I kind of set him up with a–,”

Nate’s amber eyes went wide. “You left him on his own?” he hissed, incredulous.

August 19th excerpt:

Juno hastened to the sitting room where Stan was slumped on the couch, motionless except for the anxious fidgets in his hands. His fingers fiddled with the ring hanging from the chain around his neck as he frowned at the empty air.

Juno gave a sharp bark, and that was enough to get his attention.

July 7th excerpt:

Dean anxiously grabbed his food and water, dragging the bottlecap into the shelter and putting down the sandwich remains, unable to chase away his thoughts.

“Was it the name?” Dean found himself calling out to the kitchen, his voice falling flat on dead air. “I won’t call you Stanley again! I just thought… maybe…” His voice cut off as it trembled from emotion as he realized he might have ruined his one chance.

He didn’t want to go back.

July 6th excerpt:

“I happened to notice the shop, and there were cages, and there was one that I… I dunno, I just couldn’t…"

Another sigh from Nathan. “What’s their name? ” he asked, resigned.

"Dean,” said Stan with a small smile, hopeful that Nathan would come around and be on his side on this one.

July 5th excerpt:

Stan took a steadying breath, running his hand through his bright hair. “Well, I got the cardstock you needed, but… I kind of also brought home a borrower–,”

You WHAT??

….The fudge is a cardstock? And Does Nate not like the borrowers?

@enby-phoenix reblogged your post and added:

Oh boy. Calm down, Nate! You’ll scare the little guy!

@kajensen07 replied to your post:

Um, Stan. You might be in trouble…

These comments are great! @nightmarejasmine, cardstock is a type of paper. Nathan’s a teacher and Stan’s being the good bean and getting him his supplies.

Stan might have wanted to mention all this to Nate before bringing home a borrower!

July 4th excerpt:

“Nate… and Stan,” Dean repeated, recalling their introductions from before. He scrunched up his face. “Nathan and Stanley?” was next, wondering if he was to call them by their full names.

Stan’s brow jumped up and his attention turned from his phone to Dean. He couldn’t help a small chuckle to himself, he hadn’t been called ‘Stanley’ since he was little.

“Just Stan is fine by me,” he assured Dean. “No one really calls me Stanley. Pretty sure Nate goes by both, though, whatever you feel like calling him. He won’t mind either way.”
