You see it as pointless, I see is as not?

I mean, it is my AUs and stories. I could just go ahead and post what I want, when I want to. We decided to randomize what posts next by opening it up for a vote, the reason we don’t list the AUs by the story names is because we don’t want any stories completely ignored in favor of others. I still have to occasionally put up a story regardless of the vote so it doesn’t fall by the wayside, but it’s better than just a string of Brothers Lost or Brothers Asunder posting without the others having a chance. And we all love Brothers Apart, but since I write most of it alone, there’s far fewer stories for it.

Plus, I do give people plenty of help deciding what to post. If you go to the Sneak Peeks link at the top of the tumblr (found here on mobile), there are actually the story titles listed in the peeks for everyone to browse, with one or two exceptions (because I have a full time job, and occasionally some things get overlooked).

TL;DR:

These stories are mine and will be posted how I decide, the poll is a fun way to involve our readers and randomize the AUs at the same time. Deal with it.

Votes are not accepted through asks, please vote here if you want your vote to be counted.

Yep, it was! It’s actually a direct continuation of the excerpt from yesterday–

Jacob glanced over the information printed on the card while he dug his cell phone from his pocket. On any other day, he might have joked about the dark green ink Bowman had used to cross out the name John Bonham printed on the card and scripted in Dean and Sam Winchester instead.

We try to keep the excerpts in chronological order as best we can, so there’s some you’ll see continue right off from the last one, and others that will leap ahead, they never post out of order.

@randompasserbyer This means the world to me to hear!

I definitely recommend following some writing blogs on tumblr. There’s a lot that have good grammar suggestions, word replacement guides, useful tools to use for when you’re writing. I use stuff as simple-sounding as the title capitalization website here, simply because a lot of the time I completely forget the rules! (Bad memory is one of my main features currently)

Another thing is, even when you start writing, don’t get discouraged. Trust me, no matter how far into writing, we always look back at stuff we wrote years ago and cringe. I can barely read some of my older works without wanting to attack them with corrections. You can see a line of improvement that runs through my stories, all the way back from the first g/t fic I posted (which is no longer online for reasons), through my first Supernatural g/t fic Reversal of Fate, going through An Ounce of Courage, and then the BA series. In my opinion, I hit my stride right around when I was writing Taken, and getting someone to help out and edit and beta, and someone to write with, was one of the best decisions I made for my writing.

If you do get help with your writing! Don’t forget there’s a difference between criticism and constructive criticism! Don’t get down because someone tells you your chapters are too long. Your chapters are too short. Stuff like that is purely subjective! Did you have a reason for those things? If you did, then remember certain types of ‘help’ aren’t the help you need! I did have to learn this one a few times.

Write, and write, and keep writing. Don’t push yourself if you’re having a hard time. Listen to songs that get you emotional. Write what makes you cry. Express yourself and don’t be afraid. It’s all in there just waiting to come out. ❤

This was a tricky one, not gonna lie, anon! Not for the switcheroo or anything, but just because we haven’t done something like that yet. As it is, Jacob’s timeline is already pushed back a bit to line up with the Winchesters, so it’s not like we couldn’t move him back a bit more to be older than Sammy.

In that case, and assuming we’re talking about a Brothers Adopted scenario with them both tinified, Jacob would be a very patient and chill older brother figure for little Sammy. I can see him quietly listening while Sam goes on and on about what worries him, asking questions, and trying to make sense of the new situation he’s found himself in. Jacob would understand and he’d be a good source of protective hugs when things got overwhelming for the kiddo.

The thing about Jacob is he’s pretty much always a teddy. The difference this time is he’d be older, and the older he gets, the better he is at maintaining his calm. He’d be the most chill.

Unless it called for it. If Sam got captured by a certain giant older brother, that giant might find a little Jacob charging in to try to get him back. We can only hope they’d sort things out before Jacob ended up sticking his nail-sword through Dean’s hand.

In Brothers Divided, Dean never woke up and found Sam trying to break Jacob out of the vase (Brothers Adopted early storyline). ‘Cause of that, they can’t get Jacob out, Sam is stuck between a rock and a hard place, and finds himself losing his adopted younger brother to the giant that trapped him.

They would be a little surprised to learn that humans have souls at all. Not because they think they’re monsters necessarily, but to sprites, their souls are like little pieces of the Spirit they pray to. Since humans don’t have one of the Spirits connected to them, it would be a bit surprising to find out that they have souls from an entirely different source.

Knowing how powerful a soul is would be less of a surprise. Souls are nothing to be trifle with, no matter the source. They might be worried about where those human souls go, if they don’t have a Spirit that will take them in. Heaven and Hell would not be easy concepts for them to grasp.

Bowman himself would be as belligerent as he is about anything a human tells him. Especially if he can’t actually see or feel any proof of it. If he actually saw a human soul, he’d be both mollified and also wondering why it’s just kinda floating around. Doesn’t it have places to be. Free it.
