Just saw the AoL snippet, and it made me remember that I had meant to send in an ask about if wee Stan considered the brothers his owners. Guess that answers that!

It’s a definite misconception between Stan and the Winchesters!

He doesn’t quite see himself the way they want him to…

It took seconds for Stan to grab the clip near the top of the pen and haul it all the way back to Sam, panting a little from the effort as he stepped back to give the human room to take it.

Sam was frozen in his search, not having expected Stan to suddenly shoot off in a different direction while they conversed. Seeing how much effort it took Stan to drag the pen over to him drove into Sam how different they were in size, making him feel obnoxiously oversized all over again.

Dean had an identical look on his face, not knowing how to react.

“S-Stan,” Sam managed to get out, delicately picking up the pen. He’d been looking for one, but– “You can just… tell me where the pen is, okay? You don’t have to go through all that work, I can just grab it.”

The ghost of a proud smile that had found its way to Stan’s features for finally making himself of use melted when he saw Sam’s reaction. Now he was confused all over again, worried that he’d done something wrong.

“But… you wanted it…” Stan trailed off awkwardly, trying to think of a way to fix it. But there was nothing to fix. The pen was fetched, Sam already had it. He didn’t understand why the brothers seemed so averse to his actions, but he resolved to do better next time as soon as he found out.

“That’s… not what I’m saying…” Sam said, his conviction fading at Stan’s reaction. “Just… If I want something, you don’t have to get it for me.” It was so hard to come up with words for what he meant. “I don’t want you straining yourself.”

“You’re not a pet,” Dean interrupted, putting it far blunter than Sam would have done. “You know that… right?”

Idea: Dean gates shrunk by the witch and then a couple years later Jacob gets shrunk (I just really love the idea of Sam being the big (literally) brother of Jacob

We love the idea too! That’s why we ended up with this exact storyline:

  • Brothers Remembered || Dean was cursed as a kid, growing up as a borrower at Trail’s West. He helped another kid cursed just like him, and certainly never expected to see a familiar face staying in one of the rooms.

Now they just need Sam to get on board with the whole concept…

It was during this time that Dean reached the top of the table and darted behind the huge laptop. He flattened himself to the back, barely daring to breathe for fear of alerting the human to his position.

Taking a few measured breaths to prepare himself, Dean leaned around the edge of the laptop to catch sight of where Jacob was now, expecting to see him contained.

What he found instead made all these thoughts flee his mind.

Jacob was casually sitting there and eating pizza while Dean risked his neck saving him!

“Are you kidding me?!”

I’m so excited for Dean of Nowhere!!! I feel like I’ve been waiting for this reunion for such a long time!! So, since I’m rereading Sam of Wellwood, I have to ask…what exactly is the process to become a knight of Wellwood? Or a patrol sprite, too?

Ooo, good questions! Fun questions!

Patrol is definitely the easier job to get in Wellwood. Pretty much all they need to do is show they can fly a patrol route and report anything out of the ordinary they might see while they’re out. This includes odd behavior from animals (including non-predators), bad weather approaching, damage to the forest, and potential dangers moving closer. This way a proper course of action can be planned out before something is right at the village. If the area needs extra help from the sprites, they can figure out who needs to go on an expedition (for example, setting up a group to go and help some sick trees).

Becoming a knight is a bit more involved. They have to be training all the time, and ready at the drop of a leaf to rush out in defense of the village. It’s not a job for the lax. In a pacifist society, the knights also have to accept that they will likely end up hurting something to defend the village. Not everyone has the mental fortitude to do that, especially when there’s not really an option to hold back.

If they have the right drive for it, though, the knight(s) in charge will take them onto the team, and oversee their training. They get practice weapons until they’re proficient with the movements they need, and if they impress the bosses then they can earn a sword of their own out of the armory. Then, they’re a knight dedicated to protecting the village, no matter what it takes.

I keep wondering if the “normal” Winchester dying and returning again is going to be in one of the BA canons. Tbh, I’ve been trying to imagine what each brother’s reaction to the death, the time when they are gone, and the reunion would be. Especially with the actual BA brothers who have already been separated for most of their lives…

Well I can’t lie that it hasn’t been on my mind!

This is definitely a series based on Supernatural, and canon often plays a huge part in story twists. Though neither brother has died in any of the stories yet, don’t discount the possibility. In any AU.

As to this happening in BA, it actually was supposed to occur already, in my original storyline. This plot got scrapped during my falling out with my old editor, and the revamped story is what you see today. Because of that, I did actually have just ONE LINE that I jotted down back in the day.

I’ll leave you with that! (This line is in no way BA canon, and most likely will never be seen in the stories as they are).

“He wasn’t supposed to die before us…” Sam mumbled to the Impala. “We weren’t supposed to lose him.” He curled his legs close to his body, wrapping his arms around his knees.

How would Oscar react to forests? It’s quite a different view from what he sees daily

Assuming he has someone he knows around to sort of buffer the whole experience, he’d be enchanted! Everything is so bright and vibrant and open out there, and the air moves so much more than in the stuffy walls of the motel. It wouldn’t even smell the same, with all the scents of flowers, trees, mud, and the like.

He doesn’t see many live plants at all normally. Chances are Oscar would be amazed even by a leaf or a blade of grass, gently feeling the texture or watching them move in the breeze. It’d be a charming experience for him, for sure.

When the Brothers Found trio returns to Wellwood, I can only imagine how worried Rischa will be when she’ll see how scarred Jacob is

Absolutely. The last time Rischa saw Jacob, he was very nervous about his extra-reduced size, but he was holding up okay. He trusted everyone around him and felt like they could keep him safe. The trickster then took that away from him, by making sure he was in danger no matter how much the others tried to prevent it.

He can hide a lot of those lingering fears and trauma from the others, but he couldn’t hide it from Birdie. Luckily, she wouldn’t just call him out on it – instead, she’d focus on keeping him distracted, or simply demanding hugs or attention. She’d want to Pray the healing touch, too, and he probably wouldn’t be able to stop her! They’re a sweet pair.

Going back to visit a lot would end up being one of the best things for him.

How will tiny Stan (from Brothers Chosen) react if they ever meet Nathan? Or even at the Lounge

At the point where Chosen starts, Stan and Nate haven’t met, so they’d both be a little shocked if they met in the Lounge. BC Nate is human, of course, so Stan would be stunned to see a human like him. Nate recognizes Stan, so he’s likely to come close for a look at this smol version. Stan gets a very up close view of those captivating eyes…

Stan would have a lot of confusing feelings.

Will Sam ever share some of his journal entries with Dean? I know that journaling is super private, but I’m sure Dean would be curious to know what’s in there since he can’t even see the words himself…

There’s actually a few reasons he hasn’t shared the journal just yet in the actual Brothers Apart storyline! (In Brothers Lost and Brothers Consulted, Dean has, on more than one occasion, stolen Sam’s journal with varying results).

In the beginning, Sam didn’t know if Dean was the brother he remembered. It was well over a decade since they’d seen each other last, so he took it slow. The journal was one of the things he kept private, and Dean respected that.

Later on, as their bond came back, and they grew to be a team, Sam discovered that without something to magnify his journal, Dean can’t read it. The tiny handwriting in it is too small for Dean to read, and it would feel plain awkward for Dean to sit there with a magnifying glass the entire time they’re looking through it.

If Sam ever gets a chance with Dean at his scale, he’d love to share it with his big brother…
