Night Fright

indigomasquerade97:

This is for @brothersapart 2018 contest, and is set in the story where Dean got cursed alone. He meets some… interesting people in the motel one night. Things go downhill very fast.

Dean grumbled to himself, looking around at the mostly bare dresser top. There was nothing here except for a clock and some pamphlets. He rubbed at his neck, willing that stupid knack of his to work right. It had never really steered him wrong – items that seemed useless at the time would always have a use shortly after they were found – but there was nothing here. No leftover food, no small items he could reuse in ways they weren’t originally designed for, nothing that he could take back home.

Brothers Keeper by @wolfie180g || wolfie180g

Sam and Dean spent half their lives fighting for survival in a world that outsizes them at every turn. They were hit by a witch’s curse when they were just children and left abandoned by a father that didn’t know they survived the attack. They learned to cope with their new diminutive height and make a home inside the walls, and under the floorboards of the motel they were stranded in. At about 4 inches tall, even a normal trip searching for food ends up with them coming across a new danger that they’d never seen before. Some kind of elongated rat of an animal that could easily make a meal out of them both, had spotted them and chased after them inside the motel room walls to a room they’ve never been in before.

What they find in that room is almost as terrifying as the strange animal that pursues them. A gigantic human that appears to be the animal’s owner, who is all too happy to let it inside. The brothers must find a way to escape before they’re seen and captured by the human to be taken away as pets, or worse, attacked and eaten by the fanged animal.

With no easy way out, they must pick the lesser of the far too many evils.

Predator Instinct by Wildstar_Wildheart

This is the entry for the Brothers Apart contest under the AU of Brothers Adopted. The background of the Brothers Adopted story is that Sam and Jacob were cursed by a witch and left behind on accident. 14 years after the curse Dean comes back and finds the brothers. They leave the hotel the tiny brothers were trapped in and, I forget what happened next, but this takes place after Sam and Jacob were found. So, enjoy the show!

Role Reversal by goldacharmed

Contest entry for Brothers Apart, by @nightmares06. After defeating a spirit Sam and Dean wake up to find that their roles have been reversed. Sam has to learn to be the “giant” while Dean will have no choice but to learn exactly how Sam sees’s the world while being “borrower” sized. Together they will learn more about each other than they ever expected.

Contest submission by @birvan! Here we have Sam’s bed and the crib Jacob got stuck in (along with an extra-smol bed for extra-smol Jacob that I’ll be sending to @neonthebright for her teddy)

I just had to get a picture of Sam with his bed (disclaimer: Sam here is a half inch too tol to be the Sam for my stories, but it’s close! He’s even got his research books ready to go)

Nightmares

     Sam stirred as he heard something bump into something nearby, sleepily he turned to see his younger brother making his way through the dark with his hands outstretched in front of him. “Jacob?”
“Sorry, did I wake you?” Jacob turned, squinting at the direction of Sam’s voice, after only a couple months of being cursed his eyesight had improved significantly in the dark but it still had a long way to go.
Sam brushed Jacobs question off, instead asking his own, “What are you doing up so late?”
“I had another nightmare.” He mumbled.
“Come here.” Sam scooted over so Jacob would have room to sit with him. “Do you want to talk about it?”
     Jacob remained silent and for a moment Sam thought he had drifted off to sleep, “Not really, can I just stay here?”
“Of course, and don’t worry about the nightmares. The first few months are always the hardest.”
They sat there in a comfortable silence, both silently morning what they had lost.
Walt found them there in the morning, both leaning on each other for support in their sleep, he smiled, loving both of his sons

I would like to enter this in the contest.

Thank you for the contest submission, @max-lenning!

Dean Winchester was the King of Pranks and memes, but what was he weeks before finding Sam and the new Brother Jacob? The victim.

====÷÷÷÷

Dean moaned a bit as he got up, you live another day…unlike Sam He thought sourly. His father hammered into his brain that it was his fault that his brother died, the sad thing is that he believes it.

He walked towards the door and instantly he felt as though someone was watching him. He huffed as Bobby’s voice rang out, “Breakfast boy!”

Dean had just finished a job when Bobby called him for another about a werewolf, he ended up staying for a few days before leaving again.

He walked out and down to the kitchen for some bacon and eggs, Bobby furrowed his brows in confusion, “Going for a new look?”

Dean paused and looked at Bobby with confusion, “What?”

Bobby coughed a bit, “Not that orange or pink aren’t your colors, but why?” Dean dashed to the closest mirror, he did not scream like a teenage girl who got food dumped onto her new shoes.

His hair was bright orange with hot pink tips, after running his hand through his hair, he realized that it wasn’t permanent and he could wash it out.

He turned to Bobby, “Very funny Bobby, when did you even do this? I’m a light sleeper.”

Bobby looked set back, “I didn’t do that, also the only hair dye I own is black.” Dean huffed, “Well I think I’ll lock the door tonight!”

Bobby shrugged as Dean ate, though he had a itching suspicion that a locked door isn’t going to save his head.

====Next Day====

A yell filled the air and a strawberry blond came falling down the stairs, “How did you do this!?”

Bobby bursted into a full belly laugh, “Boy, I’m too old for those types of jokes!” A serious look came over the older man’s face before disappearing into giggles.

Dean huffed before deciding to leave for the job that day. Bobby sighed with an amused smile as his kid left with an amused and confused face.

“You know…you should tell him.”

The old hunter turned around to see a tiny person on his kitchen table, mostly human but tiny. He would call her a little, but she wasn’t.

If the kitty features can say anything about it, “You dyed his hair and let him blame me!”

She shrugged as she slowly disappeared, “Just saying.”

Bobby, unperturbed by the disappearance, “I know…I know.”

Walt and Sean

neonthewrite:

My entry for the 2018 Brothers Apart tumblr contest. I wanted to write something with @nightmares06‘s Walt Watch, since he’s one of my favorites and he recently had some huge character development in the latest story of the Brothers Apart AU. This is set sometime in the weeks/months after the first story, after Sam has left with Dean under the assumption that Walt didn’t survive the events of that story.

Hope you enjoy it! Reading time approx. 10 minutes.

Walt knew something was wrong before he had time to fully wake up. Something like a heavy weight settled over his heart and he sighed without opening his eyes. Life had thrown him too many strange new things in so many months. Sometimes he wondered if he would ever have some semblance of what he had before.

Before Mallory … before Bree … his family had been fragmented, time and time again. What had he done for fate to lay its hands on him like that not once, but twice? He didn’t even know what had become of Sam.

That boy … Walt had known what he was, and hadn’t cared. In his old life, he was as much a danger to Walt as any other human.

Seeing that little face, full of fear he tried to hide, had decided for him. He and Mallory had been no match for those plaintive hazel eyes, full of tears the boy didn’t want to release. Walt still remembered the mumbled excuses about chick-flick moments. He didn’t even know what that meant and he could tell Sam’s heart wasn’t in the words.

The boy had lost his family. Just like Walt and Mallory had lost their baby girl not a year before. They might not understand everything Sam lost, but they understood that. There was no turning him away.

And now he was gone. Mallory was gone. Walt was alone, if not for–

“Walt?” Krissy’s voice was cautious and quiet, but Walt had known the girl long enough to recognize something else in it. Worry. His pale blue eyes opened at last to take in the concerned shadows on her face.
