November 5th excerpt:

“Lucky I’m such a morning person,” Jacob joked. “We could get on the road for a bit before grabbing some breakfast. Since nowhere will be open yet.” He lowered his hand to the desk for Dean so he could at least get himself ready for the trip.

“And then onwards! To the next hunt!” Dean boasted loudly as he slid off Jacob’s hand.

October 30th excerpt:

“Hey,” Jacob greeted, walking over to set the plate down well away from any of the books. There was some bacon and eggs, staples for a continental breakfast, as well as some toast. “They had some fruit, but it looked pretty miserable,” he noted sheepishly.

“Trust me, I’m the last person who’s gonna complain about that,” Sam commented as he stepped down from the book to look the plate over. “I’ve lived in motels over half my life. Warm food is more we could usually hope to find.”

He took a few steps towards the food, then paused, realizing he was treating things like he was with Dean again. “You mind?” Sam asked, gesturing at the food and flushing slightly. Couldn’t just take the food. He’d only known Jacob for a day now.

August 24th excerpt:

“I’ll take a coffee, black, with a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich,” Dean ordered at the drive-thru window. His voice was still gruff from waking up and not grabbing a drink.

Sam was sitting down on the seat, calmly watching everything that went on around him with a steady eye. From there, he couldn’t be seen from the drive-thru window, and there were no walkways nearby for a passerby to peek in at him. He could have a few minutes where he was sitting on the seat just like anyone else did.

A shadow moved overhead and Sam craned his neck back. He watched as Dean steadily turned the wheel directly above, angling them out of the drive-thru. The car shifted to a faster speed, and Sam latched a hand onto the seam of Dean’s pants. As silly as it was, it was better than going flying with the car moving around. Dean wouldn’t be able to grab him in time.
