When I started writing The Schism of Fire and Water, I estimated the story would go no longer than six chapters based on what was planned.
Boy was I ever wrong.

If Sam gets his size back for a bit or gets to see Dean eye to eye, he will not let big brother ever forget who’s the tallest between them. Of course, if he ends up back at his normal size, he’ll probably get buttoned up in a pocket if he keeps poking the bear.
There were a few different inspirations.
- First, I always thought Bobby’s pup Rumsfeld should have survived for longer than five seconds. We get to see the pup stretched out on one of the cars in the junkyard during Season 1 Episode 22. We never see if he died or not when Meg arrived, but considering he’s never seen again, most likely after the yelp she killed him.
No Meg, no dead dog. ;w;
- Second, Sam needs a dog. No matter what world we’re in, canon or AU, Sammy needs a pup. Hence the beginning of a beautiful relationship.

- Third, once the ideas for the pup started coming, they didn’t stop. It was meant to be.

The water sprites of Aeternum live in the lush jungles of that realm, tending the plants to pass the endless time. The great plains and deserts of the realm surround their home, where the air sprites frolic in the skies. Past the plains lies the great volcano that is home to the fire sprites. Earth sprites, of course, live below all the different lands, tunneling in the warm embrace of the earth.

Believe it or not, that is exactly how I got into Supernatural in the first place! I read two different fics that just made me want to know more about this show I’d heard about (I made the mistake of watching LOST instead back in the day). But A Rare Sense of Humor and Deanzilla just made me want to know these characters better… and two months later I powered through all the way to Season 9 and that’s when I started writing.
And really never stopped. I don’t even think I can stop anymore.
Don’t be ashamed, now we’ve got the same story for getting into the show, just different fics that pulled us in 🙂

Currently, no interludes are planned. All the story ideas that I’ve got will extend for more than one chapter, some shorter, some longer.
I’m glad you enjoyed! I can’t say for certain if there will be a follow up, but I’ve had interest from a bunch of different people, so who knows what the future holds. Everyone here will see it first if there ever is a continuation! I’m glad you’re enjoying things, and there will definitely be some fun things over the next week, once I recover from these crazy overtime hours. *flops*
