That is currently up in the air!

We are working on the stories that may come after BT. Originally, the plan was to wait until Lich finished posting, because of the way Brothers Found has spoilers for that story in it during the course of the series. That is the first AU that we wrote out, and we were experimenting with how our characters interacted and having a ball throwing them all together.

Brothers Adopted and Brothers Lost don’t have any spoilers in them, but we’re still in the progress of editing these. Brothers Together, at least for Hershey Kisses and Salt Lines, was more of a seat of your pants story that had minimal post editing. The other stories got a lot more development in them. Most likely, they’ll be completed or near completion, at least for the first stories in each of those by the end of BT. (Brothers Asunder has not been developed at this time past the initial idea, it will not be joining the stories as of yet)

So we’ll leave it up to our followers. Later on, we’ll run a poll asking if you guys want us to start posting after BT concludes, or wait the way we’d originally intended.

And then, to decide which AU goes first… you’ll vote on the stories and the winner goes up!

For Brothers Together, we won’t have this scenario showing up. It’s possible it may appear in a different AU, but it’s a difficult type of scene to write and the setting and the emotions have to fit.

With Oscar and the younger Winchesters, bullies usually pick on easy targets, which is why Sam had such trouble in school. He’s a scrawny kid. Dean might be the type to get into fights, but in this scenario he’s not looking for trouble. He’s keeping his head down in order to keep Sam safe, and he’s a dangerous enough looking guy that no one wants to go after him first.

And I doubt that Oscar would ever come out of the motel again if he was involved in a fight.

Ah, yes, Oscar really would have quite a time outside! Everything is so open and the air is full of fresh smells that never make it into the dusty walls of the motel. Before meeting Sam and Dean, it certainly wasn’t a safe possibility for the tiny little kid.

We’ve got plans for Oscar going outside in a short Brothers Together mini-story. Here’s a snippet of A Day at the Park:

Oscar swept his gaze all around, watching the field of grass with pure awe on his face. He could see the shimmer in the green expanse as wind washed over it, creating soft waves and a faint rustling above them. It was a tranquil scene, not something he’d have expected from the wide, dangerous outdoors.

He twisted around to look past Dean’s face at the leaves shading their spot. A real tree. Oscar was certain it’d be impossible to count so many leaves, all waving and showing both sides in the wind. He traced their shapes, and his eyes trailed over the paths of the branches. “It’s … it’s so tall! ” he muttered.

The wind even tugged at his hair and shirt and Oscar had to close his eyes against the air flow when the breeze picked up. He shuddered once, but the chill didn’t last.

“Even taller than me when I’m done growing,” Dean said with a grin. He slowly knelt down, keeping his speed to a minimum for the two kids in his hand.

The place he lowered them down to was only a foot away from the trunk of the oak tree. Its roots formed a barrier on each side, trailing down into the earth only to vanish under Dean’s feet. Sam hopped off the hand, landing down in the small dirt clearing. There was just enough space around him so he’d be able to see over the top of the grass as it wafted in the breeze.

Once he was certain of his footing, he glanced back at Oscar. “You coming?” he called back with the biggest grin, excited to explore.

Oscar hesitated a second longer, craning his neck to peer at the ground from his safe place on Dean’s hand. The grass ringing in the clearing really was taller than Sam, and a lot taller than Oscar. He was amazed and nervous all over again. He could get lost in there.

He glanced back up, staring at the trunk of the tree above them and the way it stretched out high overhead. Then, he looked back at the smile on Sam’s face, and stood with his bag clutched in his hands. “Okay,” he answered, taking far more hesitant steps to get down from the hand.

Oscar scrambled for a grip on the hood, his pale knuckles turning white he held on so hard. “B-but s-school is full of humans!” he stuttered out, his voice barely more than a frightened squeak. He couldn’t fathom how Sam tolerated being around that many bigger folk all gathered in one space.

I don’t think Oscar agrees with Sam about this being a good idea…

Yes, there are two contests.

The first one will run through deviantart. All details can be found here. The entries must be submitted through that website with a link to the contest journal provided in the deviation.

The second contest is run through tumblr, for those that do not have a deviantart. Last year my contest was only on deviantart, but since then the fanbase of the story has expanded and it would be unfair to leave anyone out of a chance to win. All details for the tumblr contest can be found here, and the entries are accepted on tumblr, fanfiction.net, and archive of our own.

Each contest has the same grand prize, and if three writing entries and three art entries are received for either, that contest will have two grand prizes, one for each category.

You can enter into both contests, but you must have a different entry for each. All art mediums welcome, so long as it relates to Brothers Apart or any of its AU’s!

Brothers Apart Contest 2016!

Hello all followers and fans!

From January 1st, 2016 to March 31st, 2016, there is a contest running for Brothers Apart!

All art mediums are welcome, but the art must be based off of one of the stories within the Brothers Apart Universe. 

Literature is accepted, so feel free to enter in any story entries you want. The stipulation is if it is a multi-part story, all parts must be up by March 31st.

Rules:

  1. Must be based on Brothers Apart. Canon brothers will not be accepted and neither will the stories I have written that are not related to the AU. (An Ounce of Courage, Reversal of Fate, The Comeback Kid, Afraid, ect…) 

  2. You may create an entry based on one of the various AU’s (Brothers Lost, Brothers Together, ect…) or create your own AU, but if it is canon brothers, it is not Brothers Apart, and therefore not accepted, unless they’re interacting with the BA bros. 

  3. This contest is run alongside the same contest on my deviantart profile. You may enter into each contest, but must have two different entries.
  4. Everyone is welcome to enter except for @nightmares06, since I will be running the contest. 😉
  5. You may include any OC’s from the stories in any artwork or writing (i.e. Walt, Nixie, Kara…)

    or create your own OC’s to interact with them! It’s fun to do!

  6. For the tumblr contest, you may upload your entry to tumblr, fanfiction.net or archiveofourown.com. 
  7. Please tag @brothersapart in any tumblr entries. 
  8. For fanfiction.com or archive of our own entries, please send a message with the location of your entry to brothersapart.spn@gmail.com so it can be displayed on tumblr.
  9. For the deviantart contest, send a note to nightmares06 with the entry to ensure that it is added to the contest journal. Also provide a link to the contest journal. All deviantart entries must be submitted to the deviantart site.
  10. Each entry will be displayed on the Brothers Apart tumblr, and the deviantart entries will also be displayed in the deviantart journal.
  11. If you want to change your entry at any time for either contest, please message me through the BA email or a note on DA.
  12. If enough entries are received for either contest (three art entries and three writing entries), I will split that contest further and have writing and art as their own separate entries with their own grand prize. If this happens, there will be an announcement on either the deviantart journal or the tumblr profile, whichever one is affected. This means there could be as many as four grand prizes!
  13. The prize is something that must be mailed to you (and you’ll find out what it is soon!) so you must be comfortable sharing your address and name. All personal data shared with me will never be shared with anyone else and will be deleted after the package is shipped.

In the TV series, Sam had Sully as an imaginary friend because he was alone. Dean was off hunting with John and he found himself a different support system. In Brothers Together, he has Dean around all the time, and in Brothers Apart, he went straight from having Dean around all the time to finding a new family. Sully helped guide him to figure out that he didn’t want to be a hunter as much as he thought, but that was never an issue in this series.

If anyone’s wondering why no prompts have posted recently, it’s just because the prompts I want to write are turning into full stories. Prompts are still open, and I hope to have the time between all these different stories to finish up a few shorter ones soon! The holidays are making that difficult.
