February 7th excerpt:

“I’m gonna be feeling that one in the morning,” Dean gasped out as he managed to finally sit up, letting his arms fall limply across his legs. He coughed, trying to clear up his throat.

That was when he finally realized that he was sitting in a hand, and a familiar one at that. He twisted around, staring straight up at the human that was looking at them both. He gave Jacob a wry grin. “Guess we coulda used Godzilla with us this time,” Dean tried to joke.

February 2nd excerpt:

The sharp sound of someone clearing his voice came from behind, and Dean twisted around in surprise. Sam was standing on the edge of the shelf with a disapproving frown on his face. A boot dangled from each hand.

“What are you, my mother?” Dean griped.

In The Darkness by The_Raconteur_24601

Something evil is afoot in a small rural town in Midwestern America, and it’s up to Sam and Dean to find out what. With the help of a small woman named Zepheera, they’ll do their best to save the town and Zepheera’s time-travelling alien friend from the greatest evil the Winchesters have ever faced.

This is a contest entry for nightmares06. It features characters from my Doctor Who/Borrowers crossover series ‘Borrowed Time (and Space)’ with a little tweak in Zepheera’s size to put her to Sam’s scale. This is not canon for BTAS and takes place sometime before Taken in Brothers Apart.

Nowhere Else to Turn by kimstaticchild

Reunited brothers Sam and Dean Winchester are still adjusting to life on the road together, with Sam being only 4 inches tall and having been living in hiding thanks to a witch’s curse.

On what begins as a nondescript night exploring a motel room, Sam has an encounter with Ziana, a confrontational borrower in the walls who in no way wants to deal with Sam, his strange background, and especially his giant of a brother. Unfortunately, she may not have a choice in the matter.

January 27th excerpt:

“We lived on the road,” Sam said, his ears still slightly red. Hopefully the two humans were too big to notice. “Dad took us from case to case after our mother was killed. Vengeful spirits, poltergeists, werewolves…” He trailed off.

“Witches,” Dean finished, remembering their last fateful case. “And cursed objects. People write strange deaths and disappearances off but there’s always a reason for them. People don’t just die and fade away.”

“Other people just stop looking,” Sam said sadly, picking up the train of thought. Dean wasn’t the only one that wished he could keep others from going through the same hell as they had.

January 26th excerpt:

Dean was exasperated, still rambling about the dog. “He’s the size of a freakin’ house! At least when Sam brought home a mouse, it couldn’t try and eat me!”

Sam snorted at him, rolling his eyes. “Dean. He’s not going to do anything.”

“You keep telling yourself that,” Dean said, one hand clutching the fabric behind them, “and I’ll be up high. Where it’s safer.”

January 25th excerpt:

With a careful finger, Bobby nudged Dean in the side to check if he was hiding any injuries the way John was prone to do. Dean had always tried to be more like his father, no matter how different they were in reality. Sam wouldn’t get away with hiding any injuries at all with his older brother around, so at least he could rest easy on that front.

Dean tried to bat the hand away. “Watch it! You’ll ruin the leather!” he complained.

January 24th excerpt:

Thanks to careful aim, Dean managed to land on Sam’s head when he reached the bottom of the hood. Both brothers went tumbling into the folds, and Dean considered his vengeance for the surprise elbow attack complete.

Sam gave him a shove back as they both tried to right themselves in the dim interior. The grey folds of fabric didn’t let much light in, but it wasn’t a problem for them. Compared to the dark walls of the motel, the hood was a well-lit hammock. They could see each other without a problem.
