January 5th excerpt:

Dean! ” Sherlock called, cutting off John’s comment as he took long strides toward the kitchen. It was the most likely place they’d find the tiny man. Sherlock had no doubt the Winchesters’ food supply had been greatly depleted that night and would need to be refilled.

Biting back a cringe at the volume of Sherlock’s voice, John heaved a weary sigh as he followed his flatmate.

The silence in the kitchen shattered, Dean burst out from behind the glassware on the countertop, looking more frazzled than normal. His duffel was discernibly thicker than before, and a biscuit hung out of his other arm. Clearly, he had been busy in the time since they’d seen him last.

What?! ” Dean hissed. “And, what the hell?! How do you possibly always know where I am? It’s ruining my mystique!”

Bobby – Cradle

AU: Brothers Apart

Timeline: Several months after A Minty Haven

Bobby stared down at the floorboard he’d torn up seconds before, startled by what he was looking at.

Nestled between two supports, there was a small room, swept clear of any remaining sawdust from the construction of the house, and with a fine layer of dust spread over a few pieces of furniture.

Knowing about people the size of his finger living nearby and seeing proof of their existence were two completely different things.

He worried his lip. The floorboard needed replacing, and it didn’t look like anyone had lived there in a long time. He recalled the place Rumsfeld had chased him from months before, a fleeting glimpse of bright red hair running from him clear in his memory. They must have once lived in his house, before relocating. He wondered why they might have left, and decided it didn’t matter.

Carefully gathering up a cradle and two makeshift chairs, Bobby pushed himself to his feet. He could find a place to leave them, and hope their former owners found them. They deserved to have all of their possessions, no matter what had driven them from the house.

September 23rd excerpt:

“Holy shit he’s gonna do it. Holy shit.”

He barely got the words out before the wall a foot and a half away from them practically exploded inward. Jacob’s boot retreated from the strong kick and the parts of the drywall that he’d splintered sagged. Light broke in and illuminated the angrily stirring dust.

Sam scowled at the sight of the light pouring into the walls, but he couldn’t do anything about it except for stalk forward to use the new ‘entrance.’ He stepped carefully over the broken debris, waving a hand in front to try and dispel the dust particles clogging the air. A slight shudder hit him at how easy it was for Jacob to break down pathways that might have been peacefully used for years before this day.

September 22nd excerpt:

“D’you know which direction they’d have gone? Maybe a section of wall I could knock on or something?”

“They’re, ahh…” Dean scanned the walls, remembering what side the room was on when he was running through the dark. There had been a few turns, and Sam had gone in the opposite direction back…

Then he remembered he didn’t have to remember where they’d gone and bother with mapping out the innards of the house. He knew where they were at this very second.

Jacob – Rain.

From this post.

With an unspeaking appearance from @nightmares06‘s cursed Sam Winchester from our collaborative Supernatural AU, Brothers Adopted.

Reading Time: ~10 minutes

Jacob wasn’t allowed to venture off on his own. It hadn’t even been a year since his curse, and the size of everything could still stop him in his tracks sometimes to stare. The thimble they used for water should be too small to fit on his thumb, but he could dip both hands in it. Sam’s climbing hook was fit for a hefty backup weapon if he ever lost his silver knife, when normally it should be pinched in a couple fingers.

Jacob was small, and he wasn’t used to the way everything around him had gotten so huge, so harsh, so loud.

June 7th excerpt:

At the sound of a distant sneeze, Dean sat bolt upright. “Sam, did you hear that?” he called, his voice only just loud enough to carry to his brother.

“Hear what?”

Dean pulled himself to his feet. “I coulda sworn…” He paced out of their divided room, going straight to the sealed-off door to push aside the wooden block. “Wait here, just in case.” He ignored Sam’s protest as he left their sanctuary behind.

Sam Makes a New Friend

“This is something else,” Sam said, keeping his voice at a low level. It felt… eerie, inside the walls. Like he was in another world, almost. He didn’t want to disturb the surroundings, knowing that he was outsized by almost everything in their world.

Oscar smiled faintly. It was easier to see his face in the low light leaking in from a split in the wallpaper above. They were just on the edge of the illumination before it faded into murky darkness in either direction. “It’s not too bad,” he said, nudging a woodchip with his shoe. It, like some other debris, was left behind from when the building was made.

“The path to my house is a lot cleaner, though, ‘cause I don’t want too much dust,” he explained conversationally. Oscar looked in both directions before he nodded to himself, assured of which direction they’d need to go if they wanted to get to his home from here. That was a long walk.

He opened his mouth to say more, but paused, almost frozen, and listened. There was a distant sound in the dust, something moving in the darkness beyond the area they could see. Oscar listened with a look of concentration on his face and turned his eyes towards the source, watching the dark. If they needed to run, they at least had the air duct right there to scurry into.

Oscar could see farther into the dark. When he saw the source of the quiet shuffling, his face broke into a grin. “Oh!” he muttered excitedly, glancing aside to Sam to see if he’d noticed yet.

Sam gasped at the sound, and found himself coughing on some dust he’d inhaled. The sounds echoing in the walls around them didn’t sound like a person’s footsteps, and were far too lightweight to be a human nearby. He couldn’t put an image to what the source was, and worry filled him at the thought of not knowing what was out there.

“Wh-what is it?” Sam asked Oscar tremulously. His hand once again gripped the younger boy’s sleeve, seeking out security. The hilt of his knife brushed against his chest with the movement, reminding him that he may be small, but he had a way to defend himself if he needed it.
