June 26th excerpt:

The younger Winchester was sitting in a corner, his lap once more covered in the scattered papers that made up his journal. He wasn’t writing in them at the moment, but instead carefully reading through. As Dean watched, Sam brushed his hand reverentially down one to smooth the wrinkles on it, then set it to the side.

After a moment’s consideration, Dean left the box of raisins against the wall, giving it an ‘accidental’ kick for the way it tripped him up multiple times in the cupboard. At this rate, neither of the humans in the flat would think he could slip around undetected.

Damn box. At least raisins lasted forever.

June 18th excerpt:

As Sam was locked in his panic, the sounds of the world around him began to slip through the cracks. A murmur of voices in the brothers’ main room, Moira’s laugh. Distantly, Sherlock’s deep rumble as he argued with someone Sam couldn’t make out. Either a phone call–

–Or Dean.

Extra bitty Jacob definitely notices the chill once or twice. His body holds less heat and his clothes are thinner than even Sam’s. In the end, he has to stick close to the others if he wants to retain any body heat. Sam and Bowman might not produce as much warmth as a human can, but they do manage better than wee Jake.

Besides, Jacob lives up to his reputation as a teddy. Hugs from a mini-giant are sure to keep such a bitty guy warm.

Sam will still feel Jacob when he looks at him (and boy is that a weird feeling to get from a guy smaller than him, but Jacob remains uncursed), but since Jacob is both nonthreatening and means no harm, it’ll be very light, almost like a tickle. Even Dean will make a more solid impression on Sam when he glances over.

It’s not that he’s less nice, because in Dean’s mind he thinks he’s being just as good a guy as always. He just takes all decisions into his own hands, tends to do whatever he thinks is best, and won’t really take no for an answer. It’s like high-level big brothering, because here, the younger one won’t argue back with the giant that captured me

Poor Jacob.

And therein lies one of the big differences between Sam and Jacob. While they might both seem like shy little mini-Sasquatches, Sam is far more likely than Jacob to tell someone off. Jacob doesn’t like confrontation and he will avoid it even if it means silently dealing with Dean’s well-intentioned but stifling protectiveness.
