July 7th excerpt:

Dean anxiously grabbed his food and water, dragging the bottlecap into the shelter and putting down the sandwich remains, unable to chase away his thoughts.

“Was it the name?” Dean found himself calling out to the kitchen, his voice falling flat on dead air. “I won’t call you Stanley again! I just thought… maybe…” His voice cut off as it trembled from emotion as he realized he might have ruined his one chance.

He didn’t want to go back.

Bowman Lost Excerpt

neonthewrite:

Bowman shouted more curses at the huge wingless man, and slammed his hands against all sides of his cage. He rustled his wings and tried to tackle the walls, but nothing he did had any effect. The giant stuck to its word, too, gathering its things and ignoring Bowman’s cries for release. He could only follow its blurry shape with his gaze and not once did the giant answer, though it glanced his way several times.

Angry tears stung his eyes again, and Bowman brushed them away on his sleeve. He didn’t have the time to feel sorry for himself. He faced the terrifying thought of leaving his home trapped by something big enough to fit him in its mouth. He was so small.

September 19th excerpt:

Dean cut off mid-sentence, his entire body stiffening. Scenes that had played out months ago ran through his mind, reminding him of the time his size had been turned on him, shoved in his face over and over again.

You already know I’m under four inches tall, what more do you need? I know I’m the shortest one here, isn’t that enough?!
