( Another one from @neonthesprite )

If we’re just talking about baby wood sprites (which are endearingly called sprouts), they nurse from their mothers or maybe a wet nurse, if needed. When they are a little more developed, they can have soft fruits if they’re mashed/chewed a bit for them first, much like a human infant. The important part is making sure they eat enough. Their little wings remain curled up in their little leaf bud shapes while they’re young, so they don’t get very much from the sun. Wood sprite mamas fuss about their babies getting enough energy most of the time.

For the safety of Bowman and the other wood sprites of Wellwood, I’ve chosen not to disclose this information. 😉

The closest approximation I can give you is the American Midwest. It’s definitely a familiar sort of place for the Winchesters, since they seem to spend a lot of their time in the middle of the country. I’m sure I’ve dropped clues in the various AUs we have written so far, but I will not be able to confirm or deny any guesses. Sorry, anon!

July 29th excerpt:

“Don’t overdo it, or you’ll never get to sleep,” Jacob warned with a laugh as Bowman wheeled around in the air.

In response, the sprite fluttered over to him and landed unabashedly on a shoulder. It warmed Jacob’s heart to be so trusted by his small friends.

Bowman flicked his wings in annoyance. “The sun goes down eventually. There’s no such thing as overdoing photosynthesis!” While it wasn’t strictly true, as a sprite could become incredibly sluggish, Bowman wasn’t about to go into that. Satisfied that he’d told the human what was what, he fluttered off his shoulder again.

Ah, nope! If that other answer was confusing, it just means that Jacob from his canon story would have been a better option to meet than the Brothers Lost version of him! If he’s met little guys before, Jacob learns very quickly to treat them like people. He’s already learned not to keep pie from Dean, after all! There’s hope for him yet, like there always is.

Just for clarity, in every AU except for Brothers Apart that we have created so far, Jacob and Bowman have not met each other at the time of the first story in each AU.

If they had, Bowman would give this Jacob a good bopping for sticking Dean in a coffee pot. Bowman’s Jake knows better than to treat smols like that. Silly boy.

April 20th excerpt:

This thought stiffened Sam’s back. He wasn’t about to roll over and act like someone’s pet or possession.

“I’m sorry,” Sam said tartly. “You’d rather we stare at you the same as you’ve been doing? I know you can’t take your eyes off us, can you?” The impression of being watched hadn’t left him the entire time. Even when the human looked away, there was the impression that the human wanted to look at him. It made Sam’s skin crawl to the point where he almost wanted to take off his skin and wash it in the clear stream in the Wellwood to scrub off the prickling sensation.
