Brothers Saved Dynamic

anonymous asked:

How does the dynamic of Big Sam/Smol Dean interact with people like Bowman, Jacob, or Nixie?

Lol, these two will be a fun pair once they grow up!

Sam tends to be a bit more hands-off with smols compared to BA Dean. He’s far less likely to just grab, unless they’re a possible threat (he hasn’t dealt with any winged smols, so they’ll get nabbed).

Meanwhile, smol Dean is hyper and very likely to pounce on a stranger, he wants to know where they came from and why they’re here, and they better not be getting into his stuff!

Dean’s had a few less savory experiences with borrowers by the time he’s grown in that AU. People just keep mistaking him as Sam’s pet and trying to ‘save’ him! He’s quite happy sticking with his little brother. Who else is supposed to take care of the kid?

If Jacob’s human-sized, it all depends on how they meet. Dean is still as stab-happy as ever if he gets grabbed, but he’s also conditioned to interacting with humans more than borrowers, so he’s not going to be put off by the kid’s size. He grew up with a Sasquatch, after all.

A Small Announcement and Updates

For Valentine’s day, we’re going to release a special sneak peek from the future of Brothers Apart! Be sure to stay tuned!

When more entries come in for the 2019 Brothers Apart Contest, I’ll create a post that lists all the entries and where to find them. I’m looking forward to seeing what everyone creates! So far we just have one, and that’s from a deviantart creator.

The contest is open until April 10th, and if there are enough entries, more prizes will be added.

As always, if anyone is lucky enough to guess what’s going on in a story, we will give a special sneak peek of that, and if anyone guesses the knack of one of the characters with an unannounced knack, we’ll reveal it! Good luck!

A Burglary at Baker Street will continue posting every Sunday and Wednesday at 9pm est. Be sure to leave us a review if you’re enjoying it!

The wordpress blog and the tumblr site are open to any questions or comments you might have, feel free to submit anonymously!

Thank you all for coming along with us on these stories! You’re what makes writing worth it!

thepoisonlily asked:

After Jacob in Wonderland, did Jacob remain with Sam and Dean until his injuries (at least the big ones) healed or did he have to make up a story for his family and friends?

Jacob had some adjusting to do before he could let himself go home. He’s learned quite a bit about hiding big secrets ever since he joined the team, but there was a lot that happened in that story. He would be way too haunted and twitchy if he went home too soon.

Luckily, they happen to know a whole village of sprites that have healing magic. Jacob was mother-henned by the Winchester brothers at the end of the story (and probably after, too), and the sprites would be no different. Especially Rischa, who knew the depth of his trauma and pain the minute he came back to the village. She wouldn’t have told the brothers since he didn’t want them to worry even more, but she’s told Bowman enough for him to be able to help Jacob out.

After he got his injuries patched up enough, he went home to try to keep himself busy, but he found himself visiting Wellwood a lot more often after Wonderland.

Djinn dreams

anonymous asked:

If the brothers got stuck in a djinn dream, what would their dreams be? Would it be different in the particular AUs?

It would certainly depend on the AU in question.

In Brothers Apart, Sam’s biggest issue is the fact that he blames himself for Mallory getting killed. Meanwhile, Dean wishes that Sam had never been cursed and definitely blames himself for not finding Sam before he was dragged from the room.

Every djinn dream would be different, and none of them would be perfect (djinn are so good at that). Like if Dean wished that he’d saved Sam in time, he might end up living in a different version AU… for instance, where he saves Sam at his own expense, or instead of leaving Sam behind, he’d see him and grab him.

Are stories like Brothers Saved and Brothers Together djinn dreams? Are we all in a djinn dream now?

Oh, hey. So I went back and looked in my old BA ideas, and apparently had a bit scripted out for Sam falling into a djinn dream, so have an old drabble!

It’s a bit short, but I like it.

“Dean!” Sam cries out, desperately running along the banister.

I have to reach him… have to help…

He almost doesn’t see the attack coming. A tattoo covered hand tries to sweep him from the railing and only misses when Sam dodges to the side at the last second. Another hand tries to snatch at him as Sam sees Dean rise up, using the distraction provided by his borrower-sized brother to grab the blood-soaked knife from where it fell during the struggle.

Even as Dean plunges his knife into the creature’s back, the fingers brush against Sam with an almost loving caress.

The world fades before he even realizes he’s falling.

“You haven’t had nightmares like this for years, Sam.” – Mallory in the dream.

Okay, really random question brought on by my own struggles with hearing loss, but what would happen if, in the BA universe, a witch hit Dean with a curse that temporarily caused him to lose either his hearing or his sight? How would the brothers react to that?

This would take some adjusting for sure!

If Dean lost his hearing, he’d need to be far more aware of Sam to begin with, since now his brother can no longer call out for his attention. They’d start out communicating with writing, since Dean has no current experience with ASL. One bonus is that he does, in Brothers Apart, know Morse Code, so he can tap out a message to Sam in an emergency, and interpret what Sam’s trying to tell him on the fly (they use this on a few separate occasions when Sam’s not in sight).

If Dean lost his sight, he’d have to rely on Sam’s directions for getting around. Unfortunately, this would mean that Dean can no longer drive the Impala, so they’d better hope this is a reversible spell!

I have seen a few of these issues tackled in stories before.

In the Deanzilla storyline on fanfiction, Sam briefly loses his vision and Dean directs him Ratattouille style! That’s what Sam gets for growing his hair out. Sam also is pretty much a wrecking ball, it’s a good thing Dean’s not on the floor through all this considering he knocks everything over and sets the place on fire. Dean, your directions need work.

You can find this scene here, but I recommend starting with Deanzilla vs Hydros, as Measure of a Man is the sequel to that story and there are heavy spoilers.

Another story to tackle similar but different issues is The Dean Dilemma. Instead of Dean losing his senses, he ends up invisible, and tiny Sam has to deal with a giant older brother he can’t see.

There will also be a story dealing with Dean’s selective mutism as a child when he goes through a trauma, though that story has not posted yet.

If anyone else knows of any supernatural g/t stories that deal with these issues, let us know!

Hiatus over

I’m getting things back up and running, I just happen to be going a little slower than expected because on the last day of vacation I came down with a cold.

Feel free to send in any questions! Remember, we have this site set up to accept anonymous questions. If you don’t want to attach a name, you don’t have to!

There will be a new chapter of Burglary posted in less than an hour! I’m getting it ready now.

Luminous Arc asked:

I’m actually gonna piggyback off this question. For my entry into the contest I had a few of the tols in a homely setting. So I’m kind of interested in their second question — while at home and relaxing, are they the type of people to go barefoot or wear socks? For characters like Jacob, in his house is it common to wear shoes inside or are they the type of household who leave their shoes in a small locker by the entrance?

For the most part, this is going to come down to pure preference for the family in question. A lot will likely leave their shoes by the door to avoid tracking mud into the household. On the other hand, younger kids (and hunters like Sam and Dean) won’t take off their shoes or boots unless they absolutely need to.

Dean, for instance, barely gave in to taking off his boots when he was watching a movie while sitting in bed, and he only gave in when Sam insisted, tossing his boots in the corner in Jacob in Wonderland.

In the Andris house, Mariana likes to keep things clean. She makes sure outdoors shoes are left by the door if she can. Jacob wears socks around, and so does his stepdad. Mariana herself wears flat slippers when she’s in the house.

Andris Household Floorplans

Originally requested by Luminous Arc

The Andris family has two households that might be relevant. When Jacob’s father was still alive, the family lived in a small one-story home. In the present day as far as most AUs are concerned, Jacob, his mother Mariana, and his stepfather Mike live in a two story house that’s slightly nicer than the one before.

AUs featuring the early house: Brothers Unexpected, Brothers Adopted (without Jacob around, Mariana never moved even after remarrying), and Brothers Sought.

Otherwise, the second house will be the layout for the stories.

Pictures to follow (I didn’t use a ruler and my handwriting is a thing, hopefully it’s all clear).

At this time, I don’t have individual room layouts planned out (and I forgot to mark the archway into the living room from the hall), but in general this was a crowded but loving home. Jacob enjoyed his childhood in this home and spent a lot of time playing in the backyard.

Rooms aren’t perfectly scaled here, but this is the general idea of the house seen in most of the AUs.

Furniture sketch layout. It’s very basic but this is the general layout of the important rooms in the Andris home. One of Mariana’s jobs is a work-from-home job, and she does her work at the desk in the living room; however, everything is kept very tidy and clean. Things are less crowded here, but it’s still a very warm and inviting place.

Luminous Arc asked:

What stories do you recommend reading that star Jacob’s family more prominently? I’d love to learn more about them. Additionally, is there a (general) floor plan of his house?

You’re actually in luck very soon!

Though we do have Jacob’s family at least touched upon in a few other stories, his home will be featured a lot closer in the upcoming story There’s No Place Like Home in Brothers Lost. This will begin posting after A Burglary at Baker Street ends later this year. There is no current posting date at this time.

We do see Jacob’s mom and stepfather appear briefly in the first story of Brothers AdoptedFamily Ties. Mariana wasn’t at her best in that story by far after dealing with Jacob’s ‘death’ for so long.

You can also see Jacob’s father, Nicholas Andris, appearing in the short story Doing Good, Kiddo? Warning for a very upsetting story dealing with cancer.

In the future, Brothers Unexpected will have Sam adopted by Jacob’s family growing up, so we will be seeing more of all of them! Jacob’s a big part of the multiverse storyline now, and he’s certainly the adopted little brother of the group.

Neon drew up floorplans and layouts of the Andris family homes (the one they lived in with the late Nicholas Andris and the one they live in now). These will be detailed in their own post coming soon~
