If you could choose a song to represent the BA multiverse (besides the traditional supernatural ‘Carry on my wayward son’) what would it be?
Carry On Wayward Son is naturally, a classic for writing anything with Sam and Dean in it, but I definitely have my music that I use when I need inspiration!
There’s a few different songs I’ve used for scenes or stories, like Glad You Came for the end of Taken, when it’s all calm after everything has happened. Celeste has her own theme song in Painted Black, the version by Ciara (A+ song for getting evil, and highly recommended!).
Whenever I want to feel Sherlock-y, I did download the soundtrack to the first three seasons. Those songs are great!
I think one of the songs that helped shape the stories as they are is Jump On My Shoulders, by AWOLNATION. It’s a bouncy song, and not inherently g/t oriented, but I get definite g/t feels from the main line, Jump on my shoulders, and is probably what helped form Sam’s favorite place to stick with Dean. He’s not a fan of pockets, it’s shoulders all the way!
Plus, that song has a line about a man at the door, there to steal your soul, so it also has the Supernatural vibe I’m looking for.
One of my more recent songs is House of Memories, by Panic! At the Disco. It’s what inspired me to start writing some of the BA finale story, which will definitely be emotion-heavy if I get to complete it the way it’s planned out in my mind.
I just, need songs to write. Give me the music and emotions!

I’m sorry if this has been answered before, but how soon after being cursed does a little’s knack start up? I know that Brothers Together said his knack came through after a few years…
It depends on the person, and how strong the curse is when its put on them (by the time Celeste curses Sam, she’s refined her technique, but some of the first borrowers to be cursed exhibited signs of their new abilities within days or months because of how overpowering the grace was).
Sam and Dean generally start to exhibit real signs of their knack around 2 – 3 years after they’ve been cursed. It starts out as weak twinges, and then grows in strength. Dean’s uncanny ability to always stumble into food becomes an ability that lets him track down anything he needs. Sam thinks he’s just good at predicting when a human’s about to walk into the room, but instead he’s feeling that their attention is coming closer to him.
A borrower that is born instead of cursed will have that ability their entire life. Whether they exhibit will depend on their specific situation. Only 1 or 2 borrowers out of 100 will actually show signs of their ability, the other 98 go on not realizing they have an ability at all, much like Walt Watch did until the moment he needed it most.
Of course, the borrowers that the story tends to focus on are those with their special abilities, so we’ll be seeing quite a few new knacks as the stories progress!

I’m looking forward to seeing more Sam and Dean interact as the different sizes. I love learning about the curse and seeing how the brothers cope no matter what is thrown their way! (So nothing specific, but more of what you do best!!)
@nightmares06– Castiel will certainly be showing up more in the Brothers Apart AU, and he’s also slated to appear in at least one other (that I remember!)
And if you haven’t seen it yet, be sure to check out @neonwrite‘s Quiet as a Mouse, which has Castiel and Oscar meet in the canon SPN format! Its sequel, Beggars Can’t Be Choosers also features the Winchesters showing up to bother the tiny lil borrower of the motel. If we get lucky and give the story some love, maybe @neonwrite will continue this lil spin-off AU!

Season three of brothers apart
@nightmares06– For Science is getting edited while we post Burglary and the next story, and the story afterwards is under construction!
Also did I mention that I’ve been fiddling around with the themes that’ll be in the final Brothers Apart story? Yep, some of that has been written out and will be helping to tie the stories all together.
Season 3 will be the third and final Brothers Apart season, but don’t fear! The other AUs will not end with it.

@nightmares06– Cas yes, Jack’s existence is just so contrived and complicated from where BA stands on the Supernatural timeline that he probably won’t ever show up in the series, but maybe in a random short story sometime! I need some inspiration for it, haven’t gotten any just yet.

I really loved Jacob in Wonderland as well as the brief scene where Celeste was making Dean grow. I think there’s a lot of cool potential with more size shifting or more extreme size differences and would love to see that explored more 🙂
@nightmares06– We have a few different style AU ideas on the way, either in the planning stages, or just starting out with writing! Size shifting and size swaps, you’ll be seeing a bunch of this! (Extreme size differences will show up again, but we try and handle this one carefully, like in the extra smol Jacob AU).
@neonwrite– Extreme size difference is definitely a different challenge! It’s fun to figure out how interactions would change, especially when in some cases they’re impossible or extremely unsafe.
Hm, I’m not sure exactly.. I absolutely love your stories of brothers apart and all of it’s amazing AUs! I have to say I really loved your sort of take on an Alice in wonderland theme with Jacob! Maybe some other sort of stories like that could come into play as well?? Like.. maybe various other fairy tales into some aus??
@nightmares06– I had a lot of fun with the Alice in Wonderland/Super Mario Bros spin that was on that story! What kind of fairy tales are you thinking about for us to touch on with these stories?
@neonwrite– Jacob is wary of this suggestion, haha. We definitely enjoyed figuring out how to apply a classic tale to an AU, and it probably won’t be the last time. Definitely interested in hearing which stories people would want to see!

@neonwrite– Oh lord. Bowman would be so miffed about a situation like this, and it’s already been established that he’s not very good at being the tol one. He’d miss his wings so badly, and poor Jacob wouldn’t have any of the coordination he’d need to properly use them. They’d be such a mess and would HAVE to call the brothers in for help.
@neonwrite– Oh gosh! Such a timid little guy up against one of the oddest pairs of humans around. On one hand you have Sherlock, who would intimidate the HECK out of someone like Oscar, and then there’s John, who would probably endear himself to the little guy very quickly. I think they could all get along, somehow. So long as they don’t take his stammering personally.
Definitely more of the brothers together Series. IT Would Also Be Cool To See SOME MORE Of Giant Dean. And maybe even Sammy getting a day off from his curse lol

@neonwrite– It can’t be worse than their first meeting in Brothers Found, in which Dean punched Jacob right to the ground. The kid was wondering how beat up he might be by the end of it. Now they’re best buds!

TBH I’m very behind on reading all your stories, and probably won’t make any headway on catching up til school lets out. But one thing I always love is a good snark-off between a tol and a smol, such as when Dean and Bowman newly met in Bothering Bowman. Also Bowman in general. He’s great.

Bobby knows something’s up when Oscar doesn’t show up for a meal, and it’s time to call up Sam and Dean Winchester to find out what happened to their small friend and why he’s missing!
Dean and Sam are on a hunt again, this time cleaning up after someone else supposedly finished off a nest of vampires. A mysterious entity requires entertainment. Coincidentally, they meet.
When Sam Winchester was ten years old, he had a run-in with a witch that turned changed his life forever. Now, trapped at mere inches in height, Sam has been kidnapped by a hunter who inadvertently brought him in contact with the only people who might be able to save him. How will the Harvelle hunters handle this turn of events?
I’m sure most of our followers have seen the news, especially if they follow my main page, and it’s a sad day for those of us who watch the Supernatural show!
The series will be ending next year with season 15!
We just wanted to make sure that everyone knows, we aren’t going anywhere! The BA stories and pages will continue on, and we will write stories for this so long as we have ideas to fall back on!

I can’t stop imagining a smoll Doctor Strange! One of his manny powers is time manipulation, which includes being able to slow down time. I gotta ask, did you get Sherlock’s knack idea from there? Either way, his ability fits him well, I love it!
Lol! While it is true that borrower Sherlock shares a lot in common with Dr. Strange, his knack actually comes right from the BBC Sherlock TV show, and how Sherlock is shown.
His ‘deduction thing’ often shows him racing ahead of the rest of the world while he figures everything out, and this is an extension of that! It took an integral part of how he thinks and allows him to project it on the rest of the world, so now he’s even faster.
It kind of works with the way the show is too! When Sherlock concentrates on a crime scene, he sees everything in a short amount of time. I like it! Cool!
Exactly the effect we were going for with Sherlock! He’s one of the borrowers who’s knack builds off of his own character, much like Dean and tracking.

Awesome! You guys got close enough that I can now officially announced what his knack is as a borrower!
It isn’t exactly enhanced speed, but it’ll look that way to an outside observer. Sherlock is actually one of our stronger knack users.
He just needs that flair!
Time Distortion: The ability to slow down or stop time. A very strong knack that requires training to sustain for longer than a few seconds. In Sherlock’s case, he is able to slow down time around him, enabling him to escape with a speed that can’t be matched, and make observations that no one else would ever notice. When he stretches his ability, he can include others in this. He can’t stop time like an angel; it will always move forward
@borrowedtimeandspace: I like to imagine it like a Sherlock-shaped bubble, separating him into his own little time zone that happens to be different to everything around him. To include others, he needs to concentrate harder and expand that bubble. Though, Sherlock being Sherlock, he tends to prefer going it alone. Here’s a little peek into how it works for him!
He concentrated, and everything around him fell slightly out of focus. All noises were muffled far into the background, and when he looked back at John, he was moving so slowly that he might as well be still.
Sherlock let out a relieved breath, but kept going, knowing this wouldn’t last long.
For just a moment, Sherlock was faster than the entire world.
A Burglary at Baker Street chapter 16: “Put him in with the other Americans, I suppose.” in other Americans he referred to Oz but not to Jake, right? Since in Sad Oscar au Jacob was already “bought”. So who’s the other American? Is it the girl from the sneak peek? I guess we’ll find out soon enough. Also, are these monsters the same ones that the Weechesters were sent to (like in Brothers Discovered)? Because in one of the BD fanarts you can see the mark, though it doesn’t fit the description..

Sam and Dean are not marked in Brothers Consulted. One of the major differences between those two AUs is that in BC, Sam and Dean escaped their captors very quickly when they arrived in London, before they were ‘processed.’ In BD, days became months before they were able to escape, which is why it is nearing winter when they’re discovered. They’ll forever be branded in that AU.
I can confirm that Oscar is not one of ‘the Americans.’ At this point in Consulted he is likely getting caught over in America, before he’s shipped overseas.
The black market for borrowers is more expansive than we’ve seen.
We’ll just have to wait and see who those Americans are!
Bonus – will Oz ever meet the kitten from the consulted shorts? (stricken sneezes)
It’s impossible to know at this time if Oscar will ever meet the kitten, but I can promise that Moira is very good friends with that flat’s cat, and she goes to visit whenever she can!
He’s not going to show up in any of the BA stories, but he might always show up in a short story if I get inspired. I occasionally do off-the-wall stories like Walk Talland A Ghost from the Past that are set in the later seasons of Supernatural, so it’s never totally off the table.
And honestly, this bean is just such a cutie. I love when he’s in episodes. Wee nephilim baby, learning from those crazy hunters!
It’s just that Brothers Apart is a huge stretch from where Jack shows up in the series that I don’t really know how I’d make that come about, he’d have to be in a story not related to the early seasons the way BA is.
