Awesome job! You got it! And now a sneak peek at just how deep our brothers get in The Ties That Bind…

The last two stories in season two are going to break all the rules.

“Sam! I’m stuck!” Krissy wailed, covering her face. Tears streamed down her soft cheeks, making her face glisten.

The sound of her reedy cry woke Bree and Kara in the cage. In seconds, the two girls scrambled to their feet, open-mouthed shock on their faces at the sight of the rescue party come to save them.

And the panic of Krissy’s predicament made it so no one heard the rattling of a key in the door, but they all saw the door swing wide…

Panic ruled.

Walt shouted for Sam to get his knife out, shoving Sean behind him. Krissy was as trapped as Bree and Kara, her soft-soled shoes sealed to the sticky glue of the trap. She couldn’t even try to turn around to see who was coming in the room without taking the risk of falling onto the glue and getting it on her arms and in her hair.

And Sam…

Sam’s eyes widened as the strange human shoved his way into the room. Those dark eyes held only malice and contempt as they fell on him first, then expanding their view to all the small people on the table with him.

A shudder ran up Sam’s back, reacting to the danger they were in. This was a human who was nothing like Dean. A man who was everything Walt had ever warned him about. A killer without conscience just because they were a little different.

Danger followed the man into the room like a dark cloud, and a widening white smile graced that dark face. There was twisted enjoyment there, watching his quarry squirm. Helpless victims guarded by two tiny knives.

The other person that came into the room was only a shadow in Sam’s eyes as the man declared “See? Swarming like flies. Nothin’ to catchin’ them if you know what you’re doing.”

The shadow resolved into Dean, and his eyes locked onto Sam’s.

July 5th excerpt:

It only took a few steps for Stan to overshoot Dean, planting one foot in the smaller man’s path in his excitement. Now that he was obstructing the way, plucking Dean up should be a cinch.

But against his best efforts, that dreadful feeling crept back in, especially with Dean rapidly approaching his much larger shoe– more than large enough to crush Dean if he stopped paying attention for one second–!

Shut up! Stan chastised himself, determinedly reaching down to snatch Dean after yet another stutter.

We were joking around about how Sam and Dean are always getting annoyed that Jacob has a habit of just walking off on them and he’s so hard to keep up with, and it ended up with a running joke that the Winchesters are like the lil ducklings following mama Jake around. He just can’t shake them.

You got it! And earned everyone a sneak peek of a very fun ride from start to finish, Shadows on the Wall.

It started slow, a thickening of the darkness that edged the room. The shadows in the corner of the room darkened so much that even Sam’s eyes, adjusted to the stark darkness found in the walls, might not cut through them. The barrier between the light and the dark became a study in contrasts.

And then the shadow moved.

With a creeping, gradual pace, the shadow started to ooze over the ground. If they looked straight-on at it, all they’d see was a slight darkening against the eclectically colored rug. Out of the corner of Sam’s eye, he could see it for what it was; a single form, congealing from darkness itself. It slithered on its stomach like a snake, its path clear.

When it reached the table Dean was sitting on, the darkness vanished into the shadows underneath. The parts that had fallen behind soon followed, making even that darkness solidify.

Dean, contentedly reading their father’s journal and trusting the people sharing the room with him, didn’t spot his danger.

The shadows rippled, and began to coil up Jacob’s recently-vacated chair. Tendrils curled and pulled itself up. This time, it wasn’t formless like before. This time, a distinct shape started to take form. A torso could be seen with a head dipping down towards Dean’s spot.

Two arms rippled into existence, walling Dean in.

And that was what alerted him at last.

Dean leapt out of his seat as he saw the two black arms suddenly snap into solid existence. He stared up defiantly at the shadow, his knife in hand. “Sam!” he called out, trying to see where his little brother was, afraid this creature had already taken the others.

Finally realizing that he stood alone against the monster.

Aw, good guess, but little Barry has nothing to do with this AU! So far, he and Xander are only in the original BA, my cute dorks. I do look forward to reaching their story after working up to it for so long.

I think we disguised the ‘b’ in bofa pretty well during the excerpts, but anyone familiar with my and neon’s writings will recognize it in the end.
