Together, the Winchesters were able to piece together the events of that night.

Somehow, Sam had grown to a giant, and stopped the werewolf in its tracks. Restrained the werewolf long enough for Dean to dart in, sinking his silver knife into its throat, taking out the threat.

After that, Sam somehow lost his giant stature, diminishing to just a few inches in height. Dean had tracked him down, and pocketed him for safe-keeping.

“I can’t believe you stuck me in a pocket,” Sam muttered, rubbing the bridge of his nose with a thumb.

Dean sent him a side-eyed look, both hands firmly on the wheel of the Impala as they got the hell out of dodge. The last thing they needed was the authorities showing up to a bloody murder scene in a demolished house. As guilty as that would make them look, they’d be lucky if they could pull off an escape before getting thrown in jail.

The night was dark, the sun fallen beneath the horizon long ago. Dean had only stopped at the motel long enough to toss their bags in the back, not bothering to check out. Sam had to stay and wait for him, impatient and antsy, wondering if his strange affliction was over or if it was just beginning.

“Where else was I supposed to put ya?” Dean said defensively. Mirth glinted in his eyes, full of adrenaline from their successful case. “It’s not everyday I find myself a fun-sized brother!

Sam’s face turned red at the idea. “Not funny, Dean!”

Day one  (Brothers Kept prequel)

“What… what happened?” Dean coughed, struggling to remember why he was laying on the ground looking up at the ceiling light, and why the ground felt so damned lumpy. A few of his hazy memories came back to him but all out of chronological order. He remembers walking into the motel from going to get some food for Sammy and five minutes in, he and his little brother were holding their heads in extreme pain. Sammy’s cartoons kept on playing along too loud, even though Dean told his 11 year old brother twice to keep it down before he left for the gas station. The TV volume hardly mattered at the moment besides drowning out their pained groans entirely from anyone outside of the motel room. They couldn’t cry out more than a plea for their brother to be aware that they were under some kind of attack before nothingness swallowed them whole.
Dean sat upright and the sight that greeted him had him more confused than anything at the moment. Somehow he was now in a massive space. Something towered to his left and in the distance he could vaguely make out other boxy shapes. Every one of them far too large and hazy at the edges to fully comprehend.

I do have a few in mind, but I don’t know if I’m going to use them in the stories yet and haven’t written them out, so I won’t be able to post anything!

Also, you prompted a very depressing idea for one of the AUs, since I had sads on my mind this week while listening to Lindsey Stirling’s Shatter Me, so people can blame you when I break their hearts 😛

Glad to hear you enjoyed the story! Just remember, and this is important – the circumstances in Brothers Found are far different than the circumstances in Brothers Apart. In Brothers Apart, the first time Sam ran into Dean, not only was he cornered behind a nightstand, he was also injured and snatched up against his will. All of this makes it a lot harder to trust someone fast. In Brothers Found, Jacob was the one that hurt Sam – completely by accident! – and Sam worked up the courage to seek out Dean for himself. He traveled cross country to find his older brother and ended up being the one to defend Jacob from his older brother, making Sam realize he had more power in the relationship than he thought.

That says nothing about how Sam will be the next day when he wakes up in a room with two humans and no good places to hide, especially since for a lot of that hunt and his first encounter with Dean, he was on an adrenaline high.

Angst is always great, but angst for angsts sake not so much. We’ve always got more angst, but having a believable story is the most important part of these AUs.

Plus, plenty of fun coming in Adopted for sure.
