What would have happened if Cas hadn’t shrunk Dean back down? Also, was the curse that she used to enlarge Dean one that touched his soul as well?

If he hadn’t shrunk Dean back down, they’d have a lot of work to figure out how to get him back to normal.

Also, RIP Rufus’s cabin. It wouldn’t survive the attempt.

Sam and Dean couldn’t interact with each other reliably at that scale difference. They’d need Bobby to help soften the blow between them.

The curse Celeste used on Dean was not the same as the one that she used on Sam. This one was a standard witch spell.

Though in Brothers Apart we see her angelic soulbound curse used most often, there are other styles and types of magic and curses that can change sizes, either larger or smaller. The reason she used hers on the borrower population was because the angelic grace imbued in them strengthens the host body, and she’s growing an army of hosts and in particular, looking for a strong one for her brother to use.

Dean’s curse was easily lifted and removed. If they had to wait until later, a simple cleansing spell would have worked.

It would be painful, though. Crunching down to normal size all at once.

You will see other size changes happen in the BA multiverse.

So lately I can’t get the idea out of my head that, as an interlude like when Sam had his first drink, they find a way for Dean to get shrunk down (not by the actual curse obviously) for a 24 hour period. This way Sam can show Dean about his world and the brothers can have a tiny- pardon the pun- bit of time at together again at the same scale!

Oh, you bet!

This is the kind of scene I’ve wanted to do with them for a while, and though it won’t be a short interlude, there will definitely be Sam and Dean at the same scale for a bit, where Sammy can finally show his big bro what it’s really like!

Dean took his time next to the burger, carefully selecting a bit of everything and then haphazardly cramming it all between two pieces of the bun. The size only put him off a little; seeing a burger that rose over his head was unexpected, but he’d spent the last two years watching Sam interact with food like this. He knew the motions to go through with.

Strolling over to Sam’s spot, Dean sat down right next to his little brother (who was currently also the larger brother), and offered a bit of burger he’d put together.

Sam nearly turned it down like normal, but he saw the hopeful look at Dean’s face, and the way the small snack had far more vegetables than grease and bacon. With a small sigh, he took it, dropping his chunk of fruit. “Thanks.”

In an oddly familiar scene, Sam and Dean ate their food side-by-side, the way they were meant to, once upon a time.

Rowena anon here. If Rowena knows about what Celeste’s doing, then she knows about Sam and Dean. Do you think that they’d team up against Celeste (like the end of season 10)?

That would very much depend on how everyone approaches the situation.

If anything, Dean trusts witches even less in this series compared to canon supernatural, so Rowena hits against the Dean-trust barrier. If she had a way to take Celeste on, they would likely listen to her and decide whether or not to follow her plan.

She always has a backup plan, just in case the Winchesters stab her in the back when she’s not looking.

There are two other (OC) witches in this series along with Celeste (though they will never appear in Brothers Apart due to location), and one of my future hopes is to have Rowena come into the series to bounce off the other witch characters.

Is there a story where Normal sized sam and dean meet bowman?

@nightmares06

Cue a very upset sprite with two extra giant giants. Seriously guys!

There isn’t currently a story like this, but once again we’ve mused on it. There would be a lot of sprite curses, Dean glares, and Sam probably offers Bowman some beer and discovers what a lightweight the guy is.

Seriously, Dean, does this really look like a threat? *Shows Dean the sprite that can’t even fly straight anymore.*

@neonthebright

It would be one of the most interesting ways to “trap” the sprite. Can’t stay in the air, can’t fly away. Even if he manages a good hop, his wings will be too wobbly to get him far and they can just bring him right back to the table.

Cue Bowman accusing Sam of trying to poison him and assuring them both that as soon as it wears off, he will bop them and then fly himself home. Because that’ll surely scare them off, Bowman.

Just a random thought here, but what do you think would come of Rowena and Celeste meeting? Would the be friends? Enemies? Frienemies even?

Well, Rowena is often drawn to power, so I can see her seeking out Celeste if she gets wind of what she’s up to.

Unfortunately, Celeste disdains actual witches, as useful as she finds their powers. Though she might be interested to know Rowena is able to use magic without demon interference, she’s already met witches like that in the past. She won’t let Rowena come close to her plans, and Rowena would spurn this treatment.

Queue them becoming worst enemies and Rowena working to upset Celeste’s plans, especially if it helps her learn a few angelic secrets.

Would it have really made a difference if Bobby had told Dean about Littles before he encountered Sam at Trails West? In other words, would they still have met and, if they did, would it have been at all similar to their meeting in Brothers Apart?

It definitely would!

Dean would still be jumpy if he ran into Sam without warning, but he’s also not about to bother a person just minding their own business getting supplies. He’d be more likely to let them go and see if they knew anything about the problems Trails West has been having, since borrowers/littles are a very good source of information for the hunters that protect them.

So they would definitely still meet, Dean would grab Sam, let him go, probably with a warning that something’s up in the motel, and Sam wouldn’t be able to resist giving Dean a hand with it, only to discover just who Dean is in the first place.

Sudden mental image: kid Oscar helping Dean in the perilous hunt of the missing shirt button and successfully defeating the hordes of dust bunnies that were trying to claim it away from the human ~Sassy

Oh my goodness. Oscar would fuss about getting all those dust bunnies stuck to him, but he could fight through it. Dean needs buttons on his shirts, his clothes need to hold up for as long as he can manage. Oscar could brandish a small comb against the dust, if Dean could find him a small enough one to carry.

Have you ever considered writing a novel? I feel like you could definitely do it- I’m blown away by how quickly you can write really awesome stories.

@nightmares06

Aww, you’re very sweet!

I definitely want to write a novel in the future– I have a few different ideas (most with g/t, some with sci-fi or fantasy), and they run through my head a lot while writing.

Life has been getting in the way recently, mostly my job and personal life stress, keeping me from putting enough thought into the writing I want to do. I’ve been writing all this fanfiction because it’s so nicely self-indulgent after a long day of work. I can look at gifs and daydream stories in various setups. But yes, writing a novel is #thedream.

@neonthewrite

It’s so much fun (and super educational) to write stories like these together.

Personally, I have written a novel-length story here and there. Some of my work can be found on my Deviantart, including a snippet of Bowman Leafwing’s original story! That project is currently undergoing some pretty important edits, and there will be an announcement regarding the progress of that story sometime in the near future.

Yo, I’ve been looking back on past stories and I’m really seeing that Dean is known to be a big bully, like in Bothering Bowman😞. Is their any quick fluff to read in order to counteract my newfound dislike of him? I know he doesn’t mean it but seriously? Please don’t scare the smalls sir😞😓😥

Well, you can always find fluff in Oscar stories if you need a quick cure!

But as far as Dean’s concerned, he comes off as a bully a lot, but it has a lot to do with the situation at hand.

Dean is a hunter, and if they find a supernatural creature (like poor Bowman), it’s his job to find out if it’s dangerous, and if it is, it usually falls to him or Sam to put a stop to the monster. He would never cause harm intentionally to an innocent (like all our Oscar stories), but he also can’t just let them go on their way.

In the case of Bothering Bowman, the story took a turn for the harsh because Sam got hurt, and as far as they knew, it was Bowman’s fault. Until Sam woke up, they had no way of knowing Bowman was innocent of any wrongdoing. Dean did the only thing he could, in his mind. Contain the threat, find out more. Once they found out Bowman was an innocent, they released him and brought him back home (with quite a few more shenanigans along the way).

Like Garth says about Dean in the canon TV show–

“That’s Dean. Now, he could start a fight in an empty house, but deep down inside, he’s just a big ol’ Teddy bear.”
