I honestly have the same problem a lot of times. Instead of picking up a book or reading that fic I’m behind on online, I’ll go through our files and find a story we wrote to reread. It’s the most addicting. And some of our future stories, like the horror story, are full novel sized.

I’m glad you share my obsession! 😀

We’re pretty excited about this, too. There’s just so many possibilities for them all while growing up and when they’re adults. Sam gets the tolest teddy to watch out for (can you see kiddo Sam, not even three inches tall, sending Jake to time out? And Jacob going and pouting in the corner?), while Oscar has an ornery tol who’s pretty much impossible to ever completely tame. These boys are going to have some adventures and then some more!

Oscar … would be afraid. The poor little guy has lived on his own with the assumption that everything outside his safe, cozy walls is dangerous in some way. A dog, being loud and boisterous and having a mouth full of rather sharp teeth, would terrify the poor little guy.

Poor Rumsfeld would flop near his hiding place and whine, because he just wants to be friends! It would take a lot of coaxing (or Sam hoisting him up by the collar, he’s a lightweight) to get him out in the open to meet a friendly puppy.

Hopefully! He’s but a small innocent victim, trying to get by! And of course, this time Dean isn’t the tiny ball of snark and sass like in BL, and he isn’t the same size as Jacob in BF, where he landed a pretty good hit on the teenager before Sam calmed him down. This time, Dean’s the size of a mountain and all hunter.

( Original Post )

Poor Oscar does so, so well at staying out of sight until Dean comes along! It’s like the universe (or a certain pair of writers) have it out for the poor guy! At least we all know that Dean won’t hurt the little guy, and is more worried about the fact that he just found a kid tinier than a finger where he could easily end up underfoot!

Luckily, someone already guessed the story premise so I can say it’s a part of Brothers Unexpected 😉 Otherwise I’d have to leave you guessing since we try not to give things away. It’s only a month since Dean lost Sammy, and he’s found himself staying in Knights Inn just like in Brothers Together.

Oh! You mean like the other half of Brothers Unexpected?

We couldn’t leave Dean completely out of the story, and what’s more unexpected than a tiny, innocent Oscar, paired up with the man that monsters fear?!

You’ve earned a full sneak peak of #auv for sure!

Oscar saw the hand coming, and felt like everything around him slowed down. From the moment that human had laid eyes on him, he’d known this would follow. The ground quaked from the giant feet hitting the floor, but Oscar could only hear the pounding of his own heart.

His mouth opened in a soundless yelp of fear and he tried to lurch backwards, scooting with his hands. The hand came closer and closer and beyond it he could see the human’s focused, intense gaze.

He couldn’t stop this from happening. It was going to go exactly as his mom always warned him it would if a human spotted him.

He’d be captured and claimed, like a pet or a toy. They might keep him in a cage so he couldn’t get away, couldn’t go free ever again. He might get hurt when the human realized why he was in the room, and he wouldn’t have any excuse other than he was hungry. Who knew if that would work?

The terror overwhelmed him and he couldn’t even prop himself up on his hands. With a cry, Oscar fell backwards, only to roll onto his side and curl up into as small a ball as he could. He was desperate to avoid getting hurt when that hand reached him and caught him.

Dean felt some of the worry and tension leave him as his hand closed around the tiny figure, scooping him easily off the ground. Now, at least, he didn’t have to fret about a tiny kid on the floor that he could accidentally step on.

Lifting his hands, closed around the tiny boy he’d seen on the floor, staring up at him with equally wide-eyed shock to what Dean felt, he wondered if he’d really seen what he thought he saw. A tiny kid? In his room. Dean knew a lot of stuff out there that people thought were myths or fairy tales were real, but… tiny kids?

Was he living The Borrowers?

Glad to hear you enjoyed the story! Just remember, and this is important – the circumstances in Brothers Found are far different than the circumstances in Brothers Apart. In Brothers Apart, the first time Sam ran into Dean, not only was he cornered behind a nightstand, he was also injured and snatched up against his will. All of this makes it a lot harder to trust someone fast. In Brothers Found, Jacob was the one that hurt Sam – completely by accident! – and Sam worked up the courage to seek out Dean for himself. He traveled cross country to find his older brother and ended up being the one to defend Jacob from his older brother, making Sam realize he had more power in the relationship than he thought.

That says nothing about how Sam will be the next day when he wakes up in a room with two humans and no good places to hide, especially since for a lot of that hunt and his first encounter with Dean, he was on an adrenaline high.

Angst is always great, but angst for angsts sake not so much. We’ve always got more angst, but having a believable story is the most important part of these AUs.

Plus, plenty of fun coming in Adopted for sure.

That’s an easy one 😉

Jacob in Brothers Lost is eighteen years old, only a few months from turning nineteen. In both Brothers Found and Brothers Adopted, he’s seventeen, putting him shorter than Sam and Dean both. So, give him a little time, and Sam and Dean will both be looking up to him! (And Dean will be complaining all the way)

He just needs a little more time to get to his full height.
