August 8th excerpt:
Within seconds Bowman vanished into the storm of sprites sweeping around the colossal figures of Logan and Dean, some occasionally leaving scratches on the former with their swords as they supported the latter.

If Bowman ever finds out how large Jacob got in this story, he will scold. Unfortunately, giant Jacob won’t be able to hear much of the scolds while he’s extra tol, and if he isn’t careful he can knock Bowman out of the sky with just a sigh!
Plus he’ll have to be real careful he doesn’t inhale the sprite by accident if he’s fluttering up by his head.
Which is why Sam won’t be coming out of the pocket. Too smol.
August 7th excerpt:
Dean raised up his arm, holding himself at the ready. “Scar, move,” he snapped out a command, used to being in charge. “That’s my brother out there, and he needs my help!” All he could see in his mind’s eye was Sam, covered in blood. Sam, crushed in a fist.
Dean, too far away to help.
Scar’s dark green eyes flickered to the hand that lifted up a sharp knife ready to slice into its enemy. Whatever intimidation he might have felt didn’t make it to his face. He flew a little closer, resolutely staying in Dean’s way. Even knowing Dean could swipe him out of the air at any given second, Scar held his stance.
“Your brother is alive, and Bowman is alive,” Scar hissed back.
He hated having his back turned on the enemy, but right now his biggest asset was also his biggest problem. “If you want to keep them that way then you will listen to me, human.”
August 5th excerpt:
“Goddammit! ” Dean cursed at the sight of Jacob and Sam both bloodied. It was over with so fast, he’d barely realized what was happening before the man was slicing down on Jacob’s arm.
Where Sam was.
Forgetting about the sprites and the plan to lie low until Bowman and Jacob were free, Dean yanked out his own knife, the matching brother to Sam’s, ready to charge in.
Sam.
August 4th excerpt:
A snare. It was a trap that, when Logan set it, would remain hidden amongst the foliage. When something wandered into it (a sprite included), it would tangle around them mercilessly, only tightening the more they struggled. The only way out would be cutting the wires away from them, and Bowman had a feeling Logan wouldn’t be kind in the process if he caught someone.
“Making art projects, I see,” Bowman snapped. “I’ve seen better.”
The cage rattled roughly as Logan gripped one end in a huge hand and tilted it sharply so that Bowman fell to one side in a heap. “You cheeky little shit. Do you know what this is?” he taunted, his hand still gripping the cage, hovering menacingly over Bowman.

You got it! The bad guy for #coth is none other than Logan Guthrie, the main antagonist of Fairy Tales: Bowman of Wellwood! For anyone who’s read that story, you’ll know that he’s pretty irrational when it comes to the sprites, and now… it’s time to find out exactly what would happen if we put him up against none other than Dean Winchester in a fight for the Wellwood forest.
As for
#coth, for each story excerpt we put up, the second tag on it is the acronym of the story name. For example, we have #trnt for all excerpts for The Road Not Taken. It makes it easy for me to organize a link for anyone to check out certain story excerpts, and it’s also a hint at the story names that might appear in the poll.
Which brings us to the last question! Normally, we’re not going to share the story name ahead of time, but today I’ll make an exception. I’m very proud of this name (we came a long way from the beginning when the names were ‘Family Ties’ and ‘Chasing Family’). Logan and Dean will be starring together in Clash of the Hunters!
Of course, you still don’t know which AU this will take place in 😉 There’s so many choices with a tall Dean and a small Sam.
August 1st excerpt:
“Feel like talking, yet, bug?” he spat, in a low voice that he knew was threatening. Indeed, he smirked when Bowman shivered involuntarily.
“Human, you ran out of things for us to talk about before you even got here,” Bowman shot back. He should have known to brace himself, but when one of those boots lashed out and kicked the cage several feet, he reasoned that it wouldn’t have mattered.
July 31st excerpt:
Dean packed everything he could into the duffel. It was at least an hour’s hike to get to where Jacob met up with Bowman, and further than that if they needed to go all the way to the village. They might not have time to make it all the way back to the car if things went to hell.
He hefted the duffel up to a shoulder. “Ready, pint-size?” he asked his younger brother, who was sitting on his right shoulder like normal.
“As I’ll ever be.”
July 29th excerpt:
“Don’t overdo it, or you’ll never get to sleep,” Jacob warned with a laugh as Bowman wheeled around in the air.
In response, the sprite fluttered over to him and landed unabashedly on a shoulder. It warmed Jacob’s heart to be so trusted by his small friends.
Bowman flicked his wings in annoyance. “The sun goes down eventually. There’s no such thing as overdoing photosynthesis!” While it wasn’t strictly true, as a sprite could become incredibly sluggish, Bowman wasn’t about to go into that. Satisfied that he’d told the human what was what, he fluttered off his shoulder again.
Haa, poor Jacob! He has such bad first impressions! Let’s see…
In Bowman of Wellwood, Bowman doesn’t have a knife to stab him with but he certainly does his best and bites Jacob…
We all know just how good Jacob does with Sam and Dean in Brothers Lost… Both brothers score a hit on him with their knives.
Sam was a little stressed in Brothers Found XD Yet another knife attack.
We gave Sam a sword in Brothers Asunder, so that bodes ill for our teddy tol.
Well, gee. Forget the sword. Sam and Dean are armed to the teeth in the giant story. Jacob, you better watch your back out there.
Maybe Brothers Unexpected! Sam’s only ten and Jacob is only four-going-on-five! He has hope XD
