And the winner is…

A Burglary at Baker Street!

Sam and Dean Winchester have struck up a deal with Sherlock Holmes and John Watson. The brothers will offer their help solving cases, in return for living in the flat and sharing in the food John brings home.

This all sounds well and good, until it’s the Winchesters that end up needing Sherlock’s services for his next case…

Brothers Consulted pulled away from Brothers Lost in the poll, and so we’ll be seeing the return of Sherlock Holmes and John Watson in the multiverse!

A reminder to everyone that when A Burglary at Baker Street ends, there will be no poll. Instead, There’s No Place Like Home will begin posting, and after that story wraps up we’ll return to the poll with all new options in it!

And now, a special sneak peek of the story that begins January 2nd, 2019!

Dean gestured for Sherlock to give him a hand. “Well, what are we waiting for, then?”

Sherlock smirked and proffered a hand for Dean, smoothly ferrying the elder Winchester to his shoulder. With Dean settled, Sherlock turned to face the room, not entirely sure of what to expect. And for once, the uncertainty wasn’t irritating, but exciting.

“Where to, Winchester?” he queried, awaiting Dean’s instruction.

Dean was silent for a long moment. He very rarely tried to actively use the ability. Mostly it just happened. They needed food, and he would suddenly just know where to go. Questioning it when their lives depended on the ability seemed like looking a gift horse in the mouth.

As he focused, the prickles on the back of his neck began to grow more prominent. His surroundings dropped away. He no longer noticed the rhythmic cadence of a pulse that throbbed through Sherlock’s neck next to him, and the steady sound of breathing, air rushing in and out of Sherlock’s lungs, was gone. It was like he was standing next to Sam once more, trying to hurriedly clear his mind and listen to Sam’s constant litany of ‘advice’ for how to do it.

With focus came clarity, and Dean found himself pointing before he realized his hand was moving.

Psychic freak slipped into his mind and he angrily crushed the thought as he told Sherlock, “That way.”

Sherlock almost didn’t notice the tiny hand, but he frowned when he tracked its path with his eyes. Dean was pointing at the door out of the flat.

The detective’s steps were halting as he approached the door, confused about what Dean was supposed to be leading him to. At his right, John entered the main room from the kitchen, a biscuit in one hand and the morning paper in the other. John paused as he noticed Sherlock’s odd movements, eyeing his flatmate as he sank into his armchair.

Sherlock slowly wrapped his hand around the doorknob, wishing he could look at Dean questioningly.

Dean didn’t notice the odd looks John was shooting at the strange pair from his armchair, unknowingly placed beside the nook in the walls the brothers had chosen for their home. If Dean spared a thought for where it was placed, he imagined it was just about at John’s eye level while sitting.

But right now, his thoughts were all tied up with the feeling on the back of his neck. After years of stubbornly ignoring the ones that were out of reach, it seemed that giving it his full attention had brought it flooding around him, more important than anything else. He needed it, and this was his chance to finally see what, and where, the thing was that was pulling at him in London.

When Sherlock didn’t open the door, Dean felt his impatience come to the fore. “Well?” he burst out. “We’re doing this, right? Or was this just some test run?”

So get this, Sam and Dean are communicating by morse while interviewing a vic, but what they don’t know is that the vic knows morse code. The vic notices the actual fuck?! Who is he even talking to?? Are all FBIs like this? I guess I really am loosing it. Bonus question- are there any other characters who know morse code? Again, your stories are amazing and thank you so much for sharing them with all us :3

Could you imagine seeing someone just tapping out a conversation? With no one? Who’s that guy talking to, is this just a nervous habit? Then realizing that someone else might actually be tapping back… There’s more to this guy than meets the eye.

There actually is one other character who knows Morse (without learning it within the story context, which a few likely will!). John Watson knows it from his time serving, and used it a few times on cases during his time with Sherlock. How he puts this skill to use with the tiny bros remains to be seen!

How will tiny Stan (from Brothers Chosen) react if they ever meet Nathan? Or even at the Lounge

At the point where Chosen starts, Stan and Nate haven’t met, so they’d both be a little shocked if they met in the Lounge. BC Nate is human, of course, so Stan would be stunned to see a human like him. Nate recognizes Stan, so he’s likely to come close for a look at this smol version. Stan gets a very up close view of those captivating eyes…

Stan would have a lot of confusing feelings.

What would the reaction of the Lounge when they’ll have two of the Stans(one human from Brothers Consulted and one borrower from Brothers Chosen)? What will they think when they find out Stan wasn’t cursed? I mean, those two are different from all the other versions(of cursed humans…) we saw…

@borrowedtimeandspace – It will definitely be a surprise all around when the Chosen crew and Consulted crew meet face to face. The two Stans of those AUs are indeed different, and it’ll break Consulted Stan’s heart to see what became of his little counterpart. And I’m sure Chosen Sam and Dean will be enlightened to see how the real Stan (as in, a Stan that hasn’t been broken down the way Chosen Stan was) acts.

@nightmares06 – Sam and Dean are trying so hard in the Chosen verse to get Stan back on his feet. They’re just not quite sure what to do with this lost little borrower who needs friends and support. They’ll certainly be very curious to get to know a full-sized Stan who seems to be perfectly confident in the way his life’s gone.

New Lounge contest where the Deans need to beat each other at building something, with their Sams, Jacobs and/or Baker Street boys as assistants. Who would win? And what would they come up with? ~Sassy

Any regular Dean probably has the most training, since they had access to books and journals and the internet and class. Smol Deans, on the other hand, are forced to be innovative, and come up with unique solutions without any resources to lean on.

BL Dean has taken to his mechanical background rapidly, but he has a lot of catching up to do, relatively. Trails West has been inhabited for years, so a lot of the projects he could possibly work on have already been done. He would have spent a lot of his time making sure repairs were kept up, while he wasn’t out getting supplies. He and Jacob would be a bit behind the full-sized Deans.

The Dean in BC has spent the most time working on the walls at Baker Street, since the people that lived there before them left quickly, and hadn’t put any work into the place. He’s also got Sherlock as an assistant, who might be a bit offended to just be Dean’s ‘assistant,’ but is certainly knowledgeable on his own on a variety of subjects. He’d give BA Dean a run for his money!

Will Jacob (cursed or not) or Bowman show up in Brothers Consulted?

Hmm! How can I answer this and not give anything away?

It might be pretty hard to get Bowman away from his forest, and how would Jacob end up over in London? Would they find him? Does he call them biscuits or cookies?

These are important questions!

Brief shoutout, if you’re a fan of Bowman Leafwing, my two cowriters are working on a story for him to run into the Doctor from Doctor Who! Give this sneak peek a chance if you’re interested– Borrowed Magic

Hi! I love your writing ^^. I stumbled upon Brothers Consulted and read the entire story in one go! I’m slowly reading through your other works but I’d just like to ask when we can expect to read more about Dean, Sam, Sherlock and John. I’m sorry if you’ve already answered this question or posted about it ^^’ Thank you!

It’s so good to hear that you enjoyed it! Sherlock and John are certainly fun additions to the stories ^^

There is a tiny series of short stories that’s placed before The Study of the Four that I wrote out while doing prompts, if you haven’t seen them yet. You can find them under this link.

We actually do have other prequel ideas that we might post in the future, it’s fun thinking of all the ways Sam and Dean nearly got caught!

And of course, we’ve got plenty more planned for this AU 😉

When the next story posting poll comes around, we’ll have the sequel to Study in it, A Burglary at Baker Street. Make sure to vote for it to see the return of BC!

If you want to see the excerpts we have posted for Brothers Consulted, check out these tags on the tumblr: #ababs, #a:asocs, #adod and #thoaw.

So, there’s plenty more coming, stay tuned and keep an eye out!
