I’m so excited for Dean of Nowhere!!! I feel like I’ve been waiting for this reunion for such a long time!! So, since I’m rereading Sam of Wellwood, I have to ask…what exactly is the process to become a knight of Wellwood? Or a patrol sprite, too?

Ooo, good questions! Fun questions!

Patrol is definitely the easier job to get in Wellwood. Pretty much all they need to do is show they can fly a patrol route and report anything out of the ordinary they might see while they’re out. This includes odd behavior from animals (including non-predators), bad weather approaching, damage to the forest, and potential dangers moving closer. This way a proper course of action can be planned out before something is right at the village. If the area needs extra help from the sprites, they can figure out who needs to go on an expedition (for example, setting up a group to go and help some sick trees).

Becoming a knight is a bit more involved. They have to be training all the time, and ready at the drop of a leaf to rush out in defense of the village. It’s not a job for the lax. In a pacifist society, the knights also have to accept that they will likely end up hurting something to defend the village. Not everyone has the mental fortitude to do that, especially when there’s not really an option to hold back.

If they have the right drive for it, though, the knight(s) in charge will take them onto the team, and oversee their training. They get practice weapons until they’re proficient with the movements they need, and if they impress the bosses then they can earn a sword of their own out of the armory. Then, they’re a knight dedicated to protecting the village, no matter what it takes.

And the winner is…

Dean of Nowhere!

A man without a home. A hunter without a family.

Dean Winchester comes from nothing and lives for no one, but dedicated his life to saving people in need. Now, an unexpected attack on two campers by one of their best friends draws Dean to Wellwood forest, towards an unexpected reunion.

Reaching 51 votes on the tiebreaker, Dean of Nowhere officially won the tiebreaker poll! For anyone who hasn’t read the first story of Brothers Asunder, feel free to check out Sam of Wellwood during the next few weeks before Dean of Nowhere begins posting on October 31st! Happy Halloween!

And now, enjoy a sneak peek of the fun to be had…

Fresh air wafts through, and it freezes.

Such a crisp, clean breath of air. The smoke is displaced by the movement, and it triples its efforts.

For a second, a lifetime, a thousand agonies, the crack is wide enough to slip through. It surges upwards, thinning itself to a trickle to make it. The opening doesn’t last long, sealing up and closing off from earth like a healing wound. None can follow, and it can’t turn back.

None of that matters to it. It is free.

After an eternity in the dark where it has forgotten its very name, the world is open to it. It could do as it wanted. Be whatever it wanted.

There are no more barriers.

Across a sparkling night sky, a black cloud drifts.

What would happen if Dean of Nowhere comes to the lounge… since he has no knowledge of sprites or littles?

The poor guy!

Part of the Lounge, to keep it safe for the little guys, especially Oscar or Bowman, who might not have any relation to a Sam or Dean that never encountered them, is an understanding with the others there. Dean, even from that AU and completely unaware of the borrowers or sprites, would know that they’re not dangerous.

He would immediately be beset by his Sam, who’s been waiting so long to see him!

Out of curiosity, will you be adding chapters to some of your other series like Brothers Adopted or Brothers Asunder? If so, do you have any idea if that will be in the near future? (Honestly, I’m absolutely feeling starved to know more about these stories.) Also, I know you have something similar in Prompts, but would you be willing to have more story with Sam finding Dean as the borrower? Would a Brother Found situation even be possible with Jacob helping Dean find Sam? Thanks for the stories!

You betcha!

There’s plenty more planned in these stories. Brothers Adopted we still need to write out, but Brothers Asunder already has several stories composed and waiting to post. Asunder will continue as soon as it wins the poll with Dean of Nowhere, the follow-up to Sam of Wellwood. And what an adventure it will be!

( @bittykimmy is still mad at us for that story, btw )

As for the rest, we already have this planned out 😉

Sam winced, but didn’t have time to mull it over before the second, newer person whirled around and focused on him.

“And you!

The tone of voice was forceful enough to make Sam wince. It almost reminded him of getting scolded in class, or maybe–

He pushed the second image out of his mind. This guy was nothing like his father when he harped on a subject. John Winchester had a strong presence about him, so Sam couldn’t figure out why this person who stood barely a fingerlength tall might remind him of him.

“What the hell do you think you’re doing, catching a kid? ” Dean practically spat out. “He’s not bothering anyone!”

What will be the next stories up for vote?

During the last poll, the other choices we had were The Ties That Bind (posting currently), There’s No Place Like Home and Dean of Nowhere.

BA will not be in the next poll due to other plans for it.

The only stories we can guarantee is There’s No Place Like Home and Dean of Nowhere. We’ll be working on editing a few other stories before the horror story finishes (and if nightmares manages to pull herself out of this stupor), so we’ll be adding more to that!

Annnnnddd our third correct guess!

Dean of Nowhere is about the drifter that got left behind, the man who lost his family, and is now on a hunt after the campground of three very familiar characters is ransacked, and the third runs into the forest after injuring one of his closest friends.

It was a walk of a few hours, but Dean refused to admit he might be lost. The trail had vanished into thin air an hour in, and he’d continued on the same path. He had supplies in his bag, at least enough granola for a day or two, and Bobby would never let him hear the end of it if he had to call in a rescue.

Shoulda learned my lesson after the wendigo.

There was a gate with a strict KEEP OUT sign hanging on it. The gate swung wide open, a chain hanging from one side. Dean eyed it up. It was the first suspicious thing he’d found in hours, and he decided to check it out. This fence was his best lead since losing Bobby’s trail. There was no way of knowing if the demon had really gone through it or not, but he could always backtrack later on that afternoon.

If he could find it again.

“Shut up,” Dean growled to himself, berating his own thoughts. “I can handle myself out here, thanks.”

A walk of twenty minutes later, and he heard something out of place.

Is that… singing?

Dean quieted his steps in a heartbeat and stalked through the foliage in search of the source of the sound. He spotted flowers ahead…

Glowing flowers.

Suspicions aroused, Dean took a few more careful steps through the tall grass as the stalks waved in the breeze. He stared down at the flowers in confusion. Demons wouldn’t bother with something like making flowers glow. They spent their energy following twisted depredations. The most mellow of demons made deals for souls. A witch might have the magic for it, but in the middle of the forest, with no one else around for miles…

It was during those confused ramblings that Dean realized something was moving in the wildflowers. Letting the duffel slip down, his instincts kicked in, and he lunged forward. The song choked and stopped out of the source’s sheer surprise. Two hands closed around the strange shape, and he straightened, staring down at his hand.

A brief glimpse of what he’d caught sent his mind reeling.

“Whoa.”
