@neonthewrite– Regarding the lighter, the older sprites most likely reacted a lot like Bowman did. Amazed and wary, and surprised that he can hold even a small fire in his hand. Since he’s the expert with it, they’d most likely leave it to him simply out of fear of accidentally setting it off themselves (they really really don’t like fire).

@nightmares06– Sam does have his climbing abilities, only with the sprites he doesn’t have the standard hook and thread to climb with. Trees have fairly thick bark which offers plenty of handholds, so when he was bored, he would try climbing up the tree trunk. It gave him something to occupy himself with when Bowman finally got himself off the ground and flitted off, and went too far to hear Sam cheering him on.

Dean taught Sam caution with everything he entrusted his little brother with, so Sam knows the proper handling of a lighter (and a gun, though he didn’t get cursed with a gun). He won’t leave it lying around again, and along with many of the other items he was cursed with, it serves as an anchor to his old life to hang on to.

The water sprites of Aeternum live in the lush jungles of that realm, tending the plants to pass the endless time. The great plains and deserts of the realm surround their home, where the air sprites frolic in the skies. Past the plains lies the great volcano that is home to the fire sprites. Earth sprites, of course, live below all the different lands, tunneling in the warm embrace of the earth.

@brothersapart Congrats on your 1 year anniversary! You have so many colorful and interesting characters I just had to draw some! (sorry it’s a little late -.-;) Since there isn’t a lot of art of the other sprites, here’s my interpretation of the four type of sprites, I hope you like it 🙂

Anyway I adore this au sooo much and I hope you have a wonderful second year of BA!

Reincarnation and Rebirth

After Ilyana passed away and was reborn in the fires of the volcano, Elenia was given life. Unlike any other fire sprite before her, Elenia is gifted with the magic of the water sprites, given to her by Nixie during the rebirth cycle. Because of this her coloration and temperment is far different than any other fire sprite. While they are easy to provoke and quick to anger, she mirrors her water sprite sisters, keeping a cool head in any situation.

Noonia, the fire drake that Ilyana loved so much, had taken it upon herself to follow Elenia wherever she goes. If it’s up to Noonia, her best friend will not get herself into trouble alone, no matter what.

Regardless of what the future holds, these two will always be found together, and Elenia will keep that flos vitae of hers safe.

Fun Facts!

Chapter five of The Schism of Fire and Water ( Come With Me ) was actually inspired by the song Titanium ft. Sia, by David Guetta. Every time I hear it I can see an entire firestorm of the fire sprites swirling around. It also inspired the scene in the chapter itself.

You shoot me down but I won’t fall – the fire sprites themselves, as long as there’s another fire sprite around, can’t be killed by Dean’s bullets.

I’m bulletproof, nothing to lose
Fire away, fire away
Ricochet, you take your aim
Fire away, fire away
You shoot me down but I won’t fall
I am titanium
You shoot me down but I won’t fall
I am titanium

Inspiration. I was itching to write this scene right when I heard the song last winter, but had to finish up Taken before I got to it.

The explosion of sound right at the end? That’s Ilyana, setting the countertop on fire in her anger, and Dean catching Sam at the last second.
