July 8th excerpt:

Down in the pocket, Sam and Dean Winchester had chosen to keep a close eye as the money from their case was gambled away in a game at the local bar.

“Yes!” Dean hissed, pumping a fist as he watched the money pile up in front.

“Shh,” Sam hissed right back, shoving at Dean to keep him quiet. “Quiet! They’ll hear us!”

“You be quiet!”

“No, you!”

So lately I can’t get the idea out of my head that, as an interlude like when Sam had his first drink, they find a way for Dean to get shrunk down (not by the actual curse obviously) for a 24 hour period. This way Sam can show Dean about his world and the brothers can have a tiny- pardon the pun- bit of time at together again at the same scale!

Oh, you bet!

This is the kind of scene I’ve wanted to do with them for a while, and though it won’t be a short interlude, there will definitely be Sam and Dean at the same scale for a bit, where Sammy can finally show his big bro what it’s really like!

Dean took his time next to the burger, carefully selecting a bit of everything and then haphazardly cramming it all between two pieces of the bun. The size only put him off a little; seeing a burger that rose over his head was unexpected, but he’d spent the last two years watching Sam interact with food like this. He knew the motions to go through with.

Strolling over to Sam’s spot, Dean sat down right next to his little brother (who was currently also the larger brother), and offered a bit of burger he’d put together.

Sam nearly turned it down like normal, but he saw the hopeful look at Dean’s face, and the way the small snack had far more vegetables than grease and bacon. With a small sigh, he took it, dropping his chunk of fruit. “Thanks.”

In an oddly familiar scene, Sam and Dean ate their food side-by-side, the way they were meant to, once upon a time.

Return to Oz

Oscar lost the only friends he’d ever found over a decade ago. He’s learned to survive on his own, brief reminders of Sam and Dean keeping him company along with the mice who share the walls with him.

Yet Sam and Dean, though they may have forgotten where he lives, out of the hundreds of motels they’ve been to, never forgot their Oz.

July 7th excerpt:

Dean anxiously grabbed his food and water, dragging the bottlecap into the shelter and putting down the sandwich remains, unable to chase away his thoughts.

“Was it the name?” Dean found himself calling out to the kitchen, his voice falling flat on dead air. “I won’t call you Stanley again! I just thought… maybe…” His voice cut off as it trembled from emotion as he realized he might have ruined his one chance.

He didn’t want to go back.

Together, the Winchesters were able to piece together the events of that night.

Somehow, Sam had grown to a giant, and stopped the werewolf in its tracks. Restrained the werewolf long enough for Dean to dart in, sinking his silver knife into its throat, taking out the threat.

After that, Sam somehow lost his giant stature, diminishing to just a few inches in height. Dean had tracked him down, and pocketed him for safe-keeping.

“I can’t believe you stuck me in a pocket,” Sam muttered, rubbing the bridge of his nose with a thumb.

Dean sent him a side-eyed look, both hands firmly on the wheel of the Impala as they got the hell out of dodge. The last thing they needed was the authorities showing up to a bloody murder scene in a demolished house. As guilty as that would make them look, they’d be lucky if they could pull off an escape before getting thrown in jail.

The night was dark, the sun fallen beneath the horizon long ago. Dean had only stopped at the motel long enough to toss their bags in the back, not bothering to check out. Sam had to stay and wait for him, impatient and antsy, wondering if his strange affliction was over or if it was just beginning.

“Where else was I supposed to put ya?” Dean said defensively. Mirth glinted in his eyes, full of adrenaline from their successful case. “It’s not everyday I find myself a fun-sized brother!

Sam’s face turned red at the idea. “Not funny, Dean!”

July 6th excerpt:

“I happened to notice the shop, and there were cages, and there was one that I… I dunno, I just couldn’t…"

Another sigh from Nathan. “What’s their name? ” he asked, resigned.

"Dean,” said Stan with a small smile, hopeful that Nathan would come around and be on his side on this one.

July 5th excerpt:

Stan took a steadying breath, running his hand through his bright hair. “Well, I got the cardstock you needed, but… I kind of also brought home a borrower–,”

You WHAT??

July 4th excerpt:

“Nate… and Stan,” Dean repeated, recalling their introductions from before. He scrunched up his face. “Nathan and Stanley?” was next, wondering if he was to call them by their full names.

Stan’s brow jumped up and his attention turned from his phone to Dean. He couldn’t help a small chuckle to himself, he hadn’t been called ‘Stanley’ since he was little.

“Just Stan is fine by me,” he assured Dean. “No one really calls me Stanley. Pretty sure Nate goes by both, though, whatever you feel like calling him. He won’t mind either way.”
