( Original Post )

Ahh, gotcha. @nightmares06 here now for the spn characters.

(Personally, I like teeny lil John Watson myself)

John is an adept mechanic, so those skills, even though he would be cursed as a child, would translate well to being smol, much like Dean. He might not have cars to repair, but he can work on anything he finds lying around, and repair things as well. He’d be a good scout, very talented at remaining hidden and out of sight if any humans come into the rooms. He’d need a weapon on him at all times for sure, and I can see him outfitting himself with a variety, unlike most smols. A needle in his belt, a razor in his jacket, a sharp shard of metal down the back of his pants. He needs to be ready to act at all times.

(For anyone that doesn’t know, John Winchester, though I love the character, is one of the hardest people for me to write, so you won’t see him smol in any of my stories. He is a background character for me.)

I actually have an easier time writing Rufus than John Winchester.

If Dean was the small one, he’d still be in charge. Sam grew up looking up to his older brother, and having him tiny wouldn’t change that a bit. It would be a lot like in Brothers Unexpected, where Sam gets adopted by Jacob’s family. Sam is much smaller than Jacob, but as the oldest, is also trusted to watch out for the kid and Jacob learns fast to listen to him (sweet tol teddy).

Not sure if we’ll ever get to writing a Brothers Together switchup, but it is a lot of fun to think about the Weechesters no matter who’s what size.

AU: Brothers Together

Timeline: Within the first month of Sam’s curse

“Whoa!”

Sam threw out his arms, but he was too late to catch his balance after the table shook.

John and Bobby didn’t notice, too caught up in their argument about chasing down the witch again, and the tiny ten year old tipped backwards from the table, his footing lost.

The freefall only lasted seconds.

Dean shouted in surprise, the powerful sound echoing around Sam’s delicate ears. The teenager launched himself, hitting the ground and sliding under Sam’s falling body to catch him between two gentle hands.

Sam hit the plush ground with an uff, and he rolled to his stomach, briefly freezing up as the hands closed around him.

This only lasted the moments it took Dean to stand back up, cradling his little brother like he was the most precious gem in the world and glaring at Bobby and John, who’d stopped their argument the moment Dean had thrown himself into the air.

“We’re going out,” Dean announced angrily, stalking from the room with his little brother and ignoring the protests behind him.

The reason we love this AU so much is it’ll be following both brothers as they grow up– completely separate! So Sam and Jacob will be growing up together, and Jacob’s parents will (of course) be involved in the storyline, since Jake’s only a wee 5 year old, not to mention Sam’s interaction with any friends that come around, if he’s allowed to see them. Then, Dean will run into Oscar on his own, and John Winchester will certainly be involved in their end. For the rest, we’ll have to wait and see!

It’s hard to say right off the bat. When I write John or Walt in my stories, they’re very volatile characters. One little thing can set them off, as I discovered with Walt.

I’d say he’d be a little hardheaded about the idea, but he’d realize they’re pretty harmless. All they honestly want to do is keep out of sight and away from humans. There can be a bad egg or two, but mostly they are smol innocents that need more protection from humans than the other way around.

John may appear again in the stories. He’s most likely to pop up in Brothers Apart. His role in that story isn’t done yet, and the brothers still have a lot to say to him after everything that happened.

—For anyone interested in John, he isn’t my best character for writing, so he will only rarely appear.

Sam had a very difficult time coping at first. He woke up in a strange home with two strange people and the first thing he did was ask to see his family. When they couldn’t do that, he got very upset and tried to run away. Walt had to chase Sam all the way to a motel room he got himself stuck in with people staying there. It was only then that Sam could even begin to accept that his life had been flipped upside down and try to deal with his new situation. Dean and John were gone and they weren’t coming back.

It’s perfectly possible, but the resources and ability to make that possibility come true is a different problem.

There’s no question that Dean’s smart enough to learn robotics, but there’s a reason he got a GED and never graduated. Hunting takes up most of his life and though he isn’t as obsessed as John is, he wouldn’t have the time to dedicate to learning robotics. There is a lot he would have to learn to be able to apply it. Then there’s the issue of getting access to the materials that are needed.

It would probably be faster just searching for a spell to shrink down a car to experiment with.
