So I decided to write a story of an oc and BA crossover for next years contest. And my oc is a kid, whose missing an arm. I was wondering how you would think Dean and Sam would react to her.

Oh, that’s exciting to hear!

I’ve been worried people might be losing interest in the contests, but knowing there’s still people out there with ideas for future submissions is really great!

As for your OC, they’d be impressed at the ways she does things with only one arm! I’ve seen how inventive people can get while coming up with solutions, and kids are incredibly resilient and hardy when it comes to adapting to new ways of doing things. I look forward to learning more about her!

OC meme

We actually received a few requests for more information on OCs through a meme on tumblr… send me a “🖊+an OC“ and I will talk about that OC

Stan Baker

Because Stan Baker wasn’t meant to be a fleshed out character, I hadn’t planned anything about him in advance. Then I started writing him and he demanded to Become. I ended up designing his character after the fact, and certain details were based on what I was really into at the time.

Around that time I met video game legend Troy Baker at a con and was instantly obsessed. He remains one of my favorite human beings to this day, and so he was on my mind a lot after I met him. His last name became Stan’s, whose first name was chosen mostly because it sounded good. This began a video game themed trend in my BAU writing, but more on that later…

Nathan Sullivan

After naming one OC after Troy Baker, known for (among many many other things) the main character from Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us, I figured Stan’s significant other should stick closely to this theme.

I decided to go with Naughty Dog’s other major title, Uncharted, for inspiration. The main character Nathan Drake and his gruff old partner Victor Sullivan, to be exact. My good boy Nathan Sullivan has very little in common with his namesakes, but his name makes me smile.

Kara Bolt

Kara as created just for the story setup in Taken, and I didn’t think people would actually like her very much!

My original beta reader gave me a very lukewarm reception for the character, since it was detracting from the time spent on the Winchesters, so the five chapter gap between when she first appears and when her story continues didn’t seem that big of a deal.

And then, people actually liked her and I was like well… fuk because now I had people invested in a character that was about to go MIA for half the story.

She’s come a long way since then, with the warm reception all the readers gave her, and she’s quite fond of her buddy Dean, smol or tol!

We haven’t had any sneak peeks recently, so have a bit of Kara and Dean in the future of BC!

“Dean?” Kara whispered furtively, glancing to the side to be sure she wasn’t going to wake up Sam. That was a big no-no, and she didn’t want to let anyone down, especially not after Dean got her the hook.

“Mmm?” came a sleepy mumble from the nest where Dean was buried.

“Can I go climbing?” Kara asked, her whisper an excited breath.

“Juss…” Twin green eyes peeked out at Kara. “Only if someone watches you,” he finished, closing his eyes and laying back down. “No goin’ alone.”

Kara pursed her lips, thwarted again as Dean went back to sleep.

Favorite story to write?

anonymous asked:

Hi I really just love your stories so much. This is just a question but what has been your favourite story writing and can you give us a list of all the OCs? There are some I’m not sure about and want to know if the person I’m thinking of is. And just keep up the good work your stories are the best.

@nightmares06– Oo, this is really hard, because they’re all so fun!

I think the one I had the MOST fun though, would have to be Jacob in Wonderland. We couldn’t wait to start, and once we started writing, it was one solid month (and a few days) before we stopped! That entire, enormous story was finished in that time, and every chapter was more fun than the last!

@neonwrite – I think my brain short circuits and reboots every time I try to think of an answer to this one. I’m really just always so happy when my cowriters are writing with me, so all the AUs and stories are fun for their own reasons. I do love any excuse to have Bowman in the mix, though.

@borrowedtimeandspace – Man, this is a tough question, like choosing between your kids. All the stories are a blast to write! I’m the type of person that has a hard time picking favorites, usually whatever I experienced most recently ends up being my ‘favorite’ for the moment. I seriously feel like whatever story I’m writing with either of my cowriters is my favorite, because we’re making it together and it’s all so exciting and fun.

All three writers have their own separate characters, so I’ll list them below. You can also find this list in our FAQ!

@nightmares06

Nixie, Ilyana, Celeste (problematic fave), Walt Watch, Mallory Watch, Briella Watch, Moira Wainscot, Krissy Vent, Sean, Kara Bolt, Christian Bolt, Mikael Foyer, Adriana, Noonia and Elenia.

@neonwrite

Bowman, Jacob Andris, Oscar, Rischa, Cerul, Scar, Vel, (any of the wood sprites, basically), Colfax and Adrian (better prompted at @alittleblogoftrust ), Asp the shadow sprite, Indigo Seraf

@borrowedtimeandspace

Zepheera is my main OC, Stan Baker, Simon Baker, Nathan Sullivan, and a bunch of borrower bbys: Kernel, Orrick Shelf, Boston Mantel, Baycliff, Klerida, Marcue Overmantle.

Can you tell me about your OC Noonia the dragon?

nightmares06:

Sure! I’d love to!

Noonia is an OC that I made a few years back, when I was writing one of my spn g/t stories (The Schism of Fire and Water from the @brothersapart universe ). She’s the life partner of a fire sprite, Ilyana, and lives in the realm of the sprites with her.

She only shows up a few times in that story, but I do have a follow-up story that will feature her a lot once it gets written. She’ll be making sure Ilyana’s newest incarnation doesn’t get into any trouble, and will be following that sprite (and their borrower buddy) around like a hawk.

For a dragon, she’s actually only a few inches big, so she’s just about big enough to carry a borrower on her back!

@justanothergiant actually helped redesign her for me, I’m a big fan of how she ended up looking!

Of course, if you have a dragon following you around, be sure not to ignore her too long…

Let me know if you want to hear more about her or anyone else!

August 11th excerpt:

Dean noticed that the book where the kid had sat was now empty, the M&M abandoned. Dean reached forward, plucking up the M&M between two fingers and his brow furrowing in confusion when he saw the little shadow hiding behind the bread.

With a sigh, Dean reached around to pluck the kid up. “You’ve gotta stay in sight,” he scolded.

Hershey Kisses and Salt Lines

(Story 2 of the Brothers Together series)

Cowritten by @nightmares06 and @neonthewrite

A month has passed since Sam was cursed, and there’s no cure in sight. He and Dean are left on their own during one of John’s hunts to go to school and do their best to get by. After all this time, Sam’s no more used to being small than he was before, and when Dean catches an unexpected visitor he gets the chance to learn all about his new size.

Im sorry to ask this, but in wich stories does Stan appear? Ive seen him all over your blog but never in your stories. (Wich are great by the way, im always waiting for new chapters in all the AU’s) Anyways, keep up the wonderful work! Ive been a fan since 2016-ish, and your stories never fail to bore me! And the g/t is great aswell. Wow, this just turned into a compliment….. But I really do appriciate you!

Ah, thank you so much! Getting comments like this really make my day!

Stan Baker is an OC that belongs to @borrowedtimeandspace. His first appearance will be in the next Brothers Consulted story, A Burglary at Baker Street. He began as a throwaway character with a bit part who was meant to get Sherlock and Dean from point A to point B with minimum fuss, and then he started talking to Dean and just… blossomed.

((Sherlock was disgruntled))

Thus far in our announced series, Stan will be making appearances in Brothers Consulted, Brothers Kept, Brothers Discovered as a child (he’s just one year older than Dean!), and Brothers Chosen as a borrower.

He’ll likely be seen in any collaboration I do in the British half of the Brothers Apart multiverse with @borrowedtimeandspace, as he’s become one of the most beloved characters when we write, and as you can see, we have a hard time not sharing it with everyone! Trust me, we’re looking forward to when he finally makes his advent in the stories!

borrowedtimeandspace:

From this list of uncommon OC questions.

1. What is the maximum amount of time your character can sit still with nothing to do?

I give him three days, tops, and that’s generous. He’s a very action-oriented person, always needs to busy himself somehow. Poor Nathan would have a very anxious Stan bugging him for something to do, he’s fallen down too many YouTube rabbit holes and is going a little nuts.

4. How easy is it to earn their trust?

Stan’s optimistic and likes to hope for the best in people, but he’s also good at reading them. The second he senses ill intent in someone, it’ll take a lot of proof to win trust back.

11. How do they cope with confusion? (seek clarification, pretend they understand, etc.)

Stan is not ashamed to ask questions when he doesn’t understand something. Only if a situation were short on time would he skip the crash course and just roll with what he knows and sees.

12. How do they deal with an itch found in a place they can’t quite reach?

Begs Nate to scratch it or finds anything remotely resembling a backscratcher.

18. What embarrasses them?

His own shortcomings, mostly. He’s highly critical of himself, but he keeps a lot of that inside. When he does make a mistake, he’ll go through self-flagellation before reverting to humor and eventually moving on with his life. Depends on the mistake.

Of course, Nathan can always find a way to make him turn bright red.

A. Why are you excited about this character?

Of the characters I’ve built over the years I’ve been writing, Stan is the only one that has taken me completely by surprise. I didn’t plan him as more than a passing character, yet he emerged. I continue to learn about him as I go, whereas with my other characters I carefully plan out their backstories beforehand. It’s an interesting experience, to be sure, and I can’t wait to see where he takes me.

Thanks again to @nightmares06 for asking and waiting patiently for my answer!

Feel free to send me more questions from this list if you’re curious about my OCs
