It will be in the poll, but not at first! The horror story is the third part of Brothers Found, so before that appears in the poll we’ll need the other two parts to post!

And we agree! Smol Jacob is so cute you just want to eat him right up!

Glancing up at Dean, Sam gave the hunter a thumbs up, letting him know they were ready. He was thankful that he was being patient while they got settled on his palm. Jacob, no doubt thanks to his usually very chill demeanor, was managing to hold onto his sanity for now, but there was a lot being thrown at him. Sam didn’t envy what he was going through at all. Hell, Jacob was barely the length of Sam’s arm.

Once he saw the signal, Dean nodded cautiously. His fingers curled up around them as he lifted himself off the ground and went back to his knees. Sam swayed a little in place, making Dean realize he was shakier than normal. Slow and steady, he cautioned himself. He couldn’t even feel Jacob’s weight in his hand, so he needed to do this right. There was a huge amount of trust invested in him by the people on his hand.

Once he was upright, Dean held the hand near his face, finally able to see Jacob clearly. “Hey kid,” he whispered. “How you feeling?”

Jacob’s eyes were a wide as he stared back. He could see every freckle on Dean’s face, every minor shift of his irises as green eyes the size of Jacob dilated to focus on him. Jacob thought that he could be looking at a face projected on the Times Square coke sign and it would be about this big.

It was a discouraging thought that he needed to be this close for Dean to be able to see him clearly. There was no way for him to be sure exactly how big he was; he was certain the others had a guess as to his current measurement, but he wasn’t going to be asking that anytime soon. It had to be tiny if the simple action of Dean whispering sent a considerable breeze over his body.

“Uh, well,” Jacob started, offering another nervous chuckle as he glanced around from his high perch. It was kind of funny that Sam had told him to hang on … there wasn’t much to hang onto on the huge, living platform.
“I’m feeling like this is all kinda weird, and like maybe the bones in my legs went on vacation. But other than that I’m actually fine, mostly just being a pansy ass because fuck.

April 7th excerpt:

The sound of their two humans could be made out in the distance, footsteps crashing through the forest.

Although… Sam’s brow creased. He could only hear one of the humans. The other had faded into the background like he never existed.

Dean. Always the hunter.

There have been sneak peeks of a horror story we are in the process of writing. It will take place in the Brothers Found AU (Where Jacob discovers Sam before Dean), and will revolve around a case where Jacob shrinks down to about an inch and a half. It will be the third story in that series.

Current sneak peeks for it:

If you ever want to see the current sneak peeks we have, please go to the brothers apart page and under The Stories link you can find Sneak Peeks, or click here! (may only work on a web browser, not the app)

Now that HKaSL is complete, Lich will be posting in its place all three nights.

  • April 7th 10pm – Lich 20
  • April 10th 10pm – Lich 21
  • April 12th 10pm – Lich 22
  • April 14th 10pm – Lich 23
  • April 17th 10pm – Lich  24

And so on until Lich concludes, after which a new story will take its place. We will be updating one story at a time now, but that story gets three updates a week.

Weekly updates – Sunday @ 10pm, Tuesday @ 10pm, Thursday @ 10pm

Also – expect there to be an announcement soon when the stories switch to 9pm posting times. Because I am up for work at 5 and not the type to stay up late anymore.

All times EST.

April 6th excerpt:

“Dad,” Bowman spoke up before his father could fly far. Gunner glanced at him, schooling his concerned expression into a neutral one. “Be careful, wouldja? This thing seems pretty dangerous.”

Gunner smirked faintly and nodded. “You got it, kid,” he answered before darting away. Bowman rolled his eyes before wandering closer to Jacob. In short order, he’d landed right on the human’s head.

“Comfy?” Jacob asked, amused. A wing, spread wide, slapped down on the top of his head.

Portability is definitely not why I write on this scale.

First things first, the main reason you see Sam standing at 4 inches tall is because the majority of my stories are either Brothers Apart, or AUs based on Brothers Apart. The scale is not going to change between them.

Second, I do have other stories that work with different scales. Reversal of Fate and An Ounce Of Courage both use the scale where Sam/Dean stand at 3 inches tall. This scale was discarded for BA because if he’s in it for the long haul, he’s going to need to do things for himself. He is not dependent on Dean in any way as some people seem to assume. Sam survived most of his life without his family around and could easily survive without them. He stays with Dean for reasons all his own.

–Sidenote here: In the horror story, Jacob is reduced down to barely an inch and a half tall and we’ll see exactly why that’s not a good thing. It’s a horror story for a reason.

I also won’t work with the Swift scale (Found in Gulliver’s Travels and The Borrowers). Since I write for enjoyment and I don’t enjoy writing my characters at 6 inches tall, you won’t find that here.

Lastly, the scales I and @neonthewrite use are not 4 inches = 6 feet.

Sam stands 4 inches tall, but his actual height is 6′4″. This gives us a ratio of about 1/19. If we put him and Bowman next to each other, they’re both 4 inches tall. Same scale, right?

Wrong! Bowman is actually the equivalent of 6′2″ in height. So he’s tall, but not quite at Sam’s height. He’s going to be disgruntled if they ever stand at the same scale and he comes to discover this human he can look straight in the eye is actually taller than him. Bowman’s ratio is about 1/18.5.

April 5th excerpt:

“I hope we’re making good impressions,” Jacob said seriously, getting the kids to snicker. He smirked and poked at one of their sides, and they squeaked and scurried to hide behind Sam and the lucky little sprite getting a piggyback ride.

“I think you’re doing a pretty good job,” Sam said as the kids peeked out from behind his legs. He kept one hand on Vel’s leg, and brushed the hair of the nestlings that were hiding behind him with his other hand for reassurance. Vel’s little arms rested on his head for balance. “Not even a bruise on these guys.”

Vel the wood sprite by @creatorofuniverses, she is the best!

Oh my! I’m sure he’d think it a good joke, but I hope he wouldn’t go too far with it! It can be hard convincing someone so small that it was an innocent prank, especially if it poked at their pride. (Small Dean would not go for this, there’s at least a chance with small Sam).

I do see Dean getting flipped off at a minimum for retaliation, though.

April 4th excerpt:

Jacob offered a warm smile to the closest of the nestlings, still a few feet away from him. They perked up in surprise, as if they didn’t expect him to be able to see them wandering closer to him. Tiny wings, some of them still slightly curled at the edges, fluttered at their backs.

“Hi,” he greeted them, and the nestlings stumbled forward even more. Some that were on the opposite side of the stream set to work carefully hopping from stone to stone, avoiding the water. “Be careful over there,” Jacob warned them. He got a few sheepish grins in return and some approving nods from the parents who hung back to continue the washing.

“We’re always careful,” someone answered, and Jacob looked down to find that a nestling had reached him. He tensed up slightly, staring at the absolutely tiny child standing in the grass, well within reach of the arms he rested on his knees. “If someone fell in the stream, their wings would get so heavy!”
