I’m glad you enjoy my stories and my take on the Winchesters.

If you want to ‘get back to Supernatural,’ on the other hand, and don’t like the way the story is going, I recommend you tune in tonight and watch the new episode. At the end of the day, Brothers Apart is an AU and not actual Supernatural.

I write for enjoyment, and to relax. The fact that other people can enjoy what I write is a bonus. I love to share everything we do. As you can see, I don’t rp unless there are plans to post the rp. I have a high stress, full time job that consumes much of my life and I maintain the blog and write the stories to escape it.

Brothers Apart was derailed last year when I had a falling out with my editor. Because of this, half the stories I had planned for the series, including the one I was currently working on, were scrapped. That’s it. Scrapped. I’m still writing BA, and I still have many plans for it, but they are proceeding slowly.

Since that is going slow (too slow to keep up with a post a week after Lich is done posting), I figured people would enjoy the other stories we write. The other AU’s are exactly that – full fledged AU’s that we worked very hard on, and are excited to share. It’s disappointing to have them reduced to ‘side projects,’ especially since many are designed with supernatural style stories in mind, and are richer in content with the added input than any story I could ever come up with on my own.

From neonthewrite:

I was wondering if something like this would ever come in. Considering the crap that the various canon non-Winchester characters get from the fandom, it’s not surprising at all.

Not precisely sure what about my involvement offends, but I dunno what to tell ya, nonny. I enjoy writing with nightmares and her interpretation of the Winchester bros. has good chemistry with my own characters. As long as she’ll have me, I’m gonna keep writing with her. Like she said, we do this for fun, and we do it for ourselves.

It’s not a job and we certainly aren’t machines. We’re people. With, y’know, feelings and such. ‘,:T

For those of you who are enjoying yourselves, I hope you continue and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting a couple of stressed creators with your interest and kind words!

Sam’s clothing in Brothers Asunder is all sprite made (with a few differences, seeing as he doesn’t have to accommodate wings). Generally, that means soft, earthy-colored cotton clothes of simple design. His shirts would mostly be simple brown or green garments – sprites don’t do buttons.

His pants are sturdy and breathable, and some are decorated with vine-like patterns at the side seams. They are tucked into knee-high boots. The boots lace up at the front and are more supple than heavy, lending themselves perfectly to dexterous movement.

Sam wears a long-sleeved jacket cut to about mid-thigh. It is, like most sprite garments, simple in design, lacking a lapel or even anything to fasten it shut. The grass-green jacket with elegant patterning at the hem is the uniform for a Knight of Wellwood. Most of the knights’ jackets have slits up the back for their wings but Sam’s does not need them. Even so, he wears his sword belt around the jacket like they do.

He’s made some minor modifications to his jacket. Among these are a hidden inner pocket for his quintessential knife, made for him by Dean before he was cursed and thus one of his most cherished possessions. Sam is the only knight who carries a knife in addition to the rapiers they all carry.

Worry shone in Dean’s green eyes as he glanced towards the window. The sunset had arched across the sky with scattered red clouds and a shock of the last rays, but now it was dark and foreboding outside. The roaring pattern of rain started up seconds after the rumble of thunder died down.

A light flickered in the room, and that sealed Dean’s resolve. “C’mon guys, game’s over,” he muttered. He slipped off the edge of the bed, padding over to them on socked feet. He sank to the ground, holding his hand out. He didn’t want to risk them out in the room if the power went out. They were too small, and he was too big.

Lightning flashed outside again, and Sam bounced to his feet in surprise. He ran towards Dean’s hand as the thunder rumbled again.

The second rumble of thunder motivated Oscar to bound towards the offered hand, too. He nearly stumbled on the carpet threads, but he managed to keep his feet and run to Dean’s outstretched fingers. He hopped up before the next flicker of all the lamps in the room.

Oscar crouched down on Dean’s palm, looking wide-eyed up at the human. “Th-the thunder’s a lot louder out here than in the walls,” he said. His gaze strayed to the window in time for a more subdued flash and an upswing in the rain. Oscar’s hand found Sam’s arm almost on reflex, anchoring himself to the other kid and knowing he wasn’t by himself while the sky raged outside. “It’s still loud in there, too, though,” he added in a quieter voice.

Dean lifted his hand away from the ground as the two kids huddled together. Before he went to stand, he cupped his hand against his chest, bringing up his second hand to shield them like he was protecting a flickering candle from the wind. Hidden from sight, another human would never know what Dean had cupped against his chest. Two tiny, fragile children that trusted him.

He stood and made his way over to the bed that was farthest from the window. “You don’t have to worry about a thing,” Dean promised them while he moved. “You’ll be safe with me, I promise.”

It’s never occurred to him, no.

Compared to most of the borrowers/littles that live in the walls, he and Walt tend to stand out with the weapons they have. A lot will try to stay out of the way if there are rats around, and hate the possibility of drawing attention. Sam and Walt would confront rats and take them on with a knife and razor without a problem.

They tend to be more ‘foragers’ than ‘hunters’ when it comes to getting food, and though Sam’s used a gun before in his past before shrinking, he never considered the alternative of a bow and arrow.

If he had one, it would be a better weapon to threaten with since he could aim for someone’s eye. It doesn’t matter that he’s small if he’s going to blind you.

Sam Makes a New Friend

“This is something else,” Sam said, keeping his voice at a low level. It felt… eerie, inside the walls. Like he was in another world, almost. He didn’t want to disturb the surroundings, knowing that he was outsized by almost everything in their world.

Oscar smiled faintly. It was easier to see his face in the low light leaking in from a split in the wallpaper above. They were just on the edge of the illumination before it faded into murky darkness in either direction. “It’s not too bad,” he said, nudging a woodchip with his shoe. It, like some other debris, was left behind from when the building was made.

“The path to my house is a lot cleaner, though, ‘cause I don’t want too much dust,” he explained conversationally. Oscar looked in both directions before he nodded to himself, assured of which direction they’d need to go if they wanted to get to his home from here. That was a long walk.

He opened his mouth to say more, but paused, almost frozen, and listened. There was a distant sound in the dust, something moving in the darkness beyond the area they could see. Oscar listened with a look of concentration on his face and turned his eyes towards the source, watching the dark. If they needed to run, they at least had the air duct right there to scurry into.

Oscar could see farther into the dark. When he saw the source of the quiet shuffling, his face broke into a grin. “Oh!” he muttered excitedly, glancing aside to Sam to see if he’d noticed yet.

Sam gasped at the sound, and found himself coughing on some dust he’d inhaled. The sounds echoing in the walls around them didn’t sound like a person’s footsteps, and were far too lightweight to be a human nearby. He couldn’t put an image to what the source was, and worry filled him at the thought of not knowing what was out there.

“Wh-what is it?” Sam asked Oscar tremulously. His hand once again gripped the younger boy’s sleeve, seeking out security. The hilt of his knife brushed against his chest with the movement, reminding him that he may be small, but he had a way to defend himself if he needed it.

The other stories in progress (x), are what we’re either currently working on, or is completed and ready to post. It keeps everyone updated on what’s completed and will be ready to go when the current stories finish.

Brothers Together and Brothers Apart are so far, the only two series that have any stories that are actually posted. Because of time constraints due to both authors having full time jobs (and to avoid overwhelming people with uploads), we post three chapters a week.

Once HKaSL and Lich are finished posting, we’ll have a vote for everyone to decide what story posts next. And from there on out, you’ll see the other series start to post!

There are sneak peeks for all of these series up, and if you ever have any ideas for them or any ideas for any other series possibilities, we encourage you to send them in! If you ever want to see what we’re up to at any time, check out the daily excerpts that are posted!

Current sneak peeks:

It’s perfectly possible, but the resources and ability to make that possibility come true is a different problem.

There’s no question that Dean’s smart enough to learn robotics, but there’s a reason he got a GED and never graduated. Hunting takes up most of his life and though he isn’t as obsessed as John is, he wouldn’t have the time to dedicate to learning robotics. There is a lot he would have to learn to be able to apply it. Then there’s the issue of getting access to the materials that are needed.

It would probably be faster just searching for a spell to shrink down a car to experiment with.

Aw, thanks so much! (We’ve been calling them AU’s of AU’s, so spinoffs is a little bit less of a mouthful)

If John shows up, he’s got a limited amount of time left… the current story will conclude March 30th. After that, Lich gets posted three times a week instead of the current one.

Prepare yourselves.
