Sam has a knife he can use to cut his hair. It’s perhaps not as precise as scissors, but he keeps it sharpened and it gets the job done. For the most part, he doesn’t cut his hair often, merely keeping it straight as it grows out.
Others will find sharpened scraps of metal to use if they live near humans. Those that live out in the wilderness often let their hair grow wild, or can use sharpened stones to cut it if it begins to get in their way, a problem while trying to survive.
Sam wouldn’t have much reason to keep it a secret from Dean. They had a rocky start at some points, but he trusts his older brother to not bother others in the wall, and getting the recipe out wouldn’t hurt anyone.
Dean considers his burgers perfect, though, so it better be a good recipe.
Sam is definitely not a fan of knocking holes in the walls to get things out, though Dean is known to go this route if he has to– Even going so far as to prompt his hunter-in-training, Jacob Andris, to smash into the walls during a scene in
Sam blanched. “Are you nuts?! ” he sputtered. “What if there’s people living here in the walls? What if the humans see the entrance!”
“There’s already a break in the wallpaper!” Dean said stubbornly. “It was the only way for me to escape!”
Jacob paused, unsure of what to make of Dean’s suggestion. He’d never once thought he would actually be asked to break into the walls like this, by one of the people who called them safety. He didn’t doubt he’d be able to, but all the same it felt like an intrusion. If there were people living hidden here, it really was.
His slightly muffled voice was hesitant when it filtered through the wall. “Well, uh. Okay, guys. Stay right where you are.”
“Holy shit, he’s gonna do it.”
The wall a foot and a half away from them practically exploded inward. Jacob’s boot retreated from the strong kick and the parts of the drywall that he’d splintered sagged. Light broke in and illuminated the angrily stirring dust.
Bree was very into exploration before she was taken– in fact, the poor dear was doing just that when she got caught!
If she’d never been taken away, she would have pushed the boundaries more and more as she grew older, bringing her friend Krissy, willing or not, along with her as she went. She’s the type that would be more likely to strike out after she grew up and find her own place to live, perhaps bringing a family with her or finding new people on her own.
Krissy at least had that less familial feel to her when they grew up together, and Sam always looked out for the girl, helping her get supplies to support her family. She’s very introverted, and never went out to the rooms on her own, a big reason Walt chose to move in with her and her mother and little brother after losing his Mallory and assuming Sam was dead.
Based on how my husband ended up (with three sisters and his mother) compared to other friends of ours, Sam would be inured to subjects like that, used to it as a part of life.
They’d have a hard time getting their independence, but I feel like John’s friends, such as Bobby and Pastor Jim would help Sam and Dean out here. The brothers can’t be stifled for their entire lives, after all. Bobby especially would be a huge help.
There won’t be any Brothers Apart AU like this written by me because I don’t enjoy writing John Winchester, but by all means if anyone wants to give it a try, they’re welcome to!
Since the witch has never disclosed her full power, it’s impossible to know the real scope of the curse. All I can say is it’s been proven to affect people up to 16 years of age, and the older you are when you’re cursed, the less you’ll see… other benefits.
Dean would be a little more hesitant to stab if he was caught by a woman. Not so gung-ho with his knife, and trying to take things slower. He’ll still defend himself if he has to, but he’ll try to talk things out (laying on the charm real thick).
If Dean caught a tiny girl, he’d feel just awful XD As we’ve seen, both brothers flail when a girl or woman gets emotional on them, so some tears and he’ll be hard-pressed to keep her trapped. How dangerous can she be?
(If she’s sassy instead of teary, there will be many snark battles between them before they get anywhere. He can’t resist a sass off.)
Sam and Bree have more of a brother-sister relationship, and that would be enhanced if he grew up with her. He’d look out for her, and they’d grow close throughout the years, but he wouldn’t flirt with her. Krissy might not be his type, but he’d be more likely to flirt with her.
It’s very difficult to say who would have what knack! We’ve straightened out a few of the rules for their knacks, but each persons is completely unique. Siblings normally have abilities that complement each other, just like Sam and Dean. With no sibling, Jacob’s is standalone. The closer the siblings, the more their abilities complement each other.
Mallory would likely have something that would help her see into the hearts of others, while Walt would at least *want* something to help his family. That’s a cute thought for Bree! Very Alice-in-Wonderlandish.
I was actually experimenting with things earlier tonight (got sick in the middle because of work stress so I forgot what I was doing), and I did make a little page for BA to see what happens.
