Jacob in Wonderland

(Story 4 of the Brothers Found series)

Cowritten by @nightmares06 and @neonthewrite

Did you know that you and Dean-O are the first humans in over a generation to actually manage to befriend little guys like Sam and Bowman? I mean, sure. Dean had a bit of a leg up there with Sam actually being his brother, but there have been other families in the past split by size like that and they never bothered with each other again.

Of course your life is a game. Everyone’s life is a game. And the name of the game?

Characters: Sam Winchester, Dean Winchester, Jacob Andris, Bowman Leafwing, the Trickster

Jacob flinched so violently that he actually woke up with a startled breath. His eyes were wide for a second until he shut them and rubbed at them with his knuckles. He could tell by the wavering of the world around him that he was still drunk. And there was a wide green … wing? over him. Jacob shuddered and turned over in his place, trying to get comfortable again.

He brushed against Sam’s arm when he was shifting in place under the green canopy. With a mumble, Sam rolled a little closer, his arm landing over Jacob’s small body. Jacob flinched in surprise from the sudden appearance of an arm longer than his body. It was only a moment before Sam shifted again, pulling Jacob closer by instinct as soon as he noticed the shivers that wracked his body even in the depths of sleep.

Sam buried his head next to Jacob under the blankets, effectively pinning him to his chest the way one would a teddy bear at night. His grip was gentle, keeping away from the sore and bruised ribs that the tiny guy was nursing. Sam gave a brief mumble of contentment before he fully drifted into sleep again.

Jacob’s surprised squirming was practically nonexistent thanks to exhaustion. If he were at his full strength, sober, and not still shaking from residual fear, Jacob may have been able to squirm away. As it was, warmth that was all too hard to retain at his size was a welcome feeling. He settled with a weary sigh, knowing this was a battle he simply didn’t have the energy to fight. Sam’s heartbeat thumped steadily right behind his head, with Jacob nestled right next to his chest. It was a backdrop to him drifting off again, slipping back into a deep sleep aided by the copious amounts of alcohol still in his system.

The room settled into an uneasy silence as they rested, Dean on one side of the room against the wall, everyone else asleep under a green canopy of Bowman’s wing, blocking out sight of the enormous world around them.

Keeping them safe.

Once everyone had their drink in hand, Dean offered up a toast. “Here’s to getting our resident Sasquatch back to properly towering over everyone around.”

“A-goddamn-men to that,” Jacob agreed, lifting his silvery handmade cup in cheers. He was so, so ready to get back to normal after his misadventure. Bowman shifted his own bottle cap (which was like a washbasin to Jacob) in an awkward imitation of the others, glancing at them to make sure he got it right.

Jacob had to chuckle. Bowman at least knew what a toast was because he’d had it explained to him before. Multiple times. He was shaky on the purpose of some human traditions, and Jacob was often at a loss for what to tell him. After all, a lot of human traditions came out of freaking nowhere.

Of course, in such cases, Bowman was never short of commentary on how silly that was.

Jacob took a drink, slowly savoring the mix of flavors in the beer. It was a local brew, and one of his favorites. Now that they were all past the mix up at the store, he had a chance to appreciate the fact that Dean had taken him up on his recommendation. Bowman took a drink of the stuff too, and Jacob grinned to see the sprite’s usual appreciative reaction to it. Seeing it in such a scale was interesting, too.

Bowman smirked, taking a second drink of his beer before speaking his mind. “Yeah, we gotta get Jacob back to normal before being the tallest goes straight to Dean’s head.”

No problem!

It is definitely the longest story we’ve written, with the closest second place story lagging behind by around 20 chapters right now!

Jacob in Wonderland will be over 70 chapters long, and we won’t have a more exact estimate because the chapters might be adjusted as needed.

(They’re long, and harrowing)

For the moment, only stories connected to a BA AU will appear in the Lounge, leaving Oscar out of the flow so long as his AU stands alone.

With small Jacob, due to overwhelming demand, he’s going to find himself back down at his extra bitty size when he transfers to the Lounge with the others. Exactly how well this goes over with him and Dean, we’ll all have to wait and see for after the horror story posts.

As stated in the notes of the story, Brothers Found came about directly after A Lich of Sense was completed, when we were bouncing around story ideas and doing ‘mini-rps’ in Skype that we’d just randomly scrap and start anew.

When this one began to take form more than the others, and gave birth to the idea of the horror story, instead of scrapping it, redoing probably over a hundred thousand words and losing all momentum for the horror story, we simply moved the rp from Skype to google docs for editing, and cleaned it up.

(That was! A lot of hard work! Don’t use Skype for rps!)

Brothers Found = Brothers Apart if Jacob came into it first. No more, no less. Until we stumbled over the idea for the horror story and the story grew into its own. And remember– this AU was the first we created and you have these stories to thank for all the others that came after.

So enjoy the nuggets. We never promised this was anything else.
